Rev 10 01 User Instructions American Doo 4295 Charter Street Los Angeles CA 90058 www americandj com Emerald Beam General Introduction Introduction Thank you for purchasing the American DJe Emerald Beam The Emerald Beam is a unique green laser effect that cre ates different patterns The unit uses eight internal mirrors to bounce the laser reflection over a wide area This unit has a sound active mode that allows the unit to reflect on all eight mirrors The unit s sound sen sitivity may be adjusted by a sensitivity adjustment on the bottom of the unit The unit may be mounted in either a horizontal or vertical posi tion Unpacking Every Emerald Beam has been thoroughly tested and has been shipped in perfect operating condition Carefully check the shipping carton for damage that may have occurred during shipping If the carton appears to be damaged carefully inspect the unit for any damage and be sure all accessories necessary to operate the system have arrived intact In the event damage has been found or parts are missing please contact our toll free customer support number for fur ther instructions Please do not return the unit to your dealer without first contacting customer support Customer Support American DJe provides a toll free customer sup port line to provide set up help and to answer any question should you encounter problems during your set up or initial operation You may also visit us o
3. e direction will turn off the sound active mode Cleaning Emerald Beam Fixture Cleaning Due to fog residue smoke and dust cleaning the internal and external lenses should be carried out periodically to optimize light output 1 Use normal glass cleaner and a soft cloth to wipe down the outside casing 2 Clean the external optics with glass cleaner and a soft cloth every 20 days 4 Always be sure to dry all parts completely before plugging the unit back in Cleaning frequency depends on the environment in which the fixture operates l e smoke fog residue dust dew In heavy use we recom mend cleaning on a monthly basis Periodic cleaning will ensure longevity and crisp beam output American DJ www americandj com Emerald Beam Instruction Manual Page 6 Emerald Beam 90 DAY LIMITED WARRANTY A American DJe hereby warrants to the original purchaser American DJe products to be free of manufacturing defects in material and workmanship for a period of 90 days from the date of purchase This warranty shall be valid only if the product is purchased within the United States of America including possessions and territories It is the owner s responsibil ity to establish the date and place of purchase by acceptable evidence at the time service is sought Warranty B For warranty service send the product only to the American DJe factory All shipping charges must be pre paid If the requested repai
4. merald Beam Instruction Manual Page 5 Operation Emerald Beam Power Supply This unit is available in both 120v and 220v options before plugging your fixture in be sure the source voltage in your area matches the required voltage for your American DJe Emerald Beam General Operation Plug and Play operation This fixture is designed to operate as a stand alone unit to sound The Emerald Beam is ready to be plugged in out of the box there is no power switch After plugging the fixture in the laser will immediately begin to cycle through the many built in programs The programs cycle through automatically when the unit is operating and may not be selected manually The unit requires sound to operate and will automatically blackout without sound to conserve laser life If the unit does not turn on after the unit has been plugged in be sure the sound sensitivity is tuned up 1 fuse has not blown and the unit is properly plugged in to a matching wall outlet If problem continue to persist please contact customer support for further instructions Sensitivity Knob A sound sensitivity knob is located on the rear of the unit Use this knob to regulate the amount of sound it takes to trig ger the unit Turning the knob in a clockwise direction will increase the units sensitivity to sound turning the knob in a counterclockwise direc tion will decrease the units sensitivity Turning the knob completely to the counter clockwis

6. nit may blow a fuse if the maximum allotted load of 2 amps 1 amp 220v is reached If the fuse needs replacement always replace the fuse with same exact type that was remove unless otherwise instructed by an authorized American DJe service techni cian Use of a different type fuse from that which is recommended may cause fire or electric shock and will void the manufactures warranty e To reduce the risk of electrical shock or fire do not expose this unit rain or moisture e Do not spill water or other liquids into or on to your unit e Do not attempt to remove or break off the ground prong from the electrical cord This prong is used to reduce the risk of electrical shock and fire in case of an internal short Do not attempt to operate this unit if the power cord has been frayed or broken e Disconnect from main power before making any type of connection e Do not remove the cover under any conditions There are no user serviceable parts inside e Never plug this unit in to a dimmer pack e Always be sure to mount this unit in an area that will allow proper ventilation Allow about 6 15cm between this device and a wall Do not attempt to operate this unit if it becomes damaged e This unit is intended for indoor use only use of this product outdoors voids all warranties e During long periods of non use disconnect the unit s main power e Always mount this unit in safe and stable matter e Power cords should be routed so

8. rs or service including parts replacement are within the terms of this warranty American DJe will pay return shipping charges only to a designated point within the United States If the entire instrument is sent it must be shipped in its original package No accessories should be shipped with the product If any accessories are shipped with the product American DJe shall have no liability whatsoever for loss of or damage to any such accessories nor for the safe return thereof C This warranty is void if the serial number has been altered or removed if the product is modified in any manner which American DJe concludes after inspection affects the reli ability of the product if the product has been repaired or serviced by anyone other than the American DJe factory unless prior written authorization was issued to purchaser by Ameri can DJe if the product is damaged because not properly maintained as set forth in the instruction manual D This is not a service contract and this warranty does not include maintenance cleaning or periodic check up During the period specified above American DJe will replace defec tive parts at its expense and will absorb all expenses for warranty service and repair labor by reason of defects in material or workmanship The sole responsibility of American DJe under this warranty shall be limited to the repair of the product or replacement thereof including parts at the sole discretion of American DJe All p
9. they are not likely to be walked on pinched by items placed upon or against them e Cleaning The fixture should be cleaned only as recommended by the manufacturer See page 6 for cleaning details e Heat The appliance should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators heat registers stoves or other appliances including amplifiers that produce heat American DJ www americandj com Emerald Beam Instruction Manual Page 4 Control amp Functions Emerald Beam 1 Audio Sensitivity Knob This adjust audio sensitivity of the internal microphone 2 Turning the sensitivity knob in the clockwise direction will increase the sensitivity to sound Turning the knob in the counter clockwise direction will decrease the fixture s sensitivity to sound 2 Microphone This microphone receives external low frequencies to trigger the unit in Sound Active mode This microphone is designed to receive low frequency sounds only tapping on the microphone and high pitch sounds may not trigger the unit 3 Power Cord Connection This connection is used to supply main power to the fixture Use only the supplied I E C power cord Be sure the main power matches the required power of your fixture 4 Fuse Holder This housing stores the 2 amp GMA protective fuse Always replace with the exact same type fuse unless other wise instructed by an authorized American Due service technician American DJ www americandj com E
