1. of its useful lifespan Appropriate separate collection to permit recy cling treatment and environmentally compatible disposal helps prevent negative impact on the environment and human health and promotes recycling of the materials making up the product For more information on available collection faci lities contact your local waste collection service or the shop where you bought this appliance IMPORTANT Before leaving our factory all our products are rigorously tested Your Vaporetto may contain some residual water in the boiler from the factory testing PREPARATION e Turn the tank cap F Fig 1 and fill the tank completely with water making sure it does not overflow using the special funnel 13 Fig 2 18 This appliance has been designed to work with normal tap water However since water contains limestone by nature which may cause scaling in the long run we recommend using a 50 50 mixture of tap water and demineralised water or treated with softening systems To use tap water and avoid scale formation we recommend the addition of the special natural scale removal agent Kalstop FP2003 Absolutely do not use distilled water dryer condensate water perfumed water rain water battery water water from air conditio ning systems and the like Do not use che mical substances or detergents Close the tank cap F Fig 1 e Plug the power cable G into a suitable earthed outlet USE P2. steam desired to be optimised by turning the adjustment knob E You can use this control to increase the steam flow by turning in anti clockwise direction Turning the control in a clockwise direction redu ces the steam flow fig 3 Here are some tips for regulating it Strong steam to remove scaling stains grease and to sanitise Normal steam for carpets floors e Gentle steam to steam plants clean delicate fabrics wall coverings sofas etc rugs glass CONNECTION OF ACCESSORIES To connect up accessories simply push them together until the accessory snaps into place 10 fig 6 e To release the accessories simply hold the button 10 down and separate the compo nents Before using the accessories make sure that they are firmly in place LACK OF WATER The automatic topping up system means it is no longer necessary to stop and wait before filling up the boiler again When the water level in the boiler is low the thermostat will automatically start the pump and fill the boiler If no steam is emitted when requested and the indicator light D comes on this means there is no more water in the tank To continue working add water to the automatic topping up tank as described in the section on PREPARATION 19 PRECAUTIONS FOR DELICATE SURFACES Before treating leather special fabrics and wood surfaces consult the manufacturer s in structions and always carry out a

9. r 11 and use it to clean fabrics in the home after testing on a hidden corner upholstery encrusted dirt 120 TOOL 14 The 120 tool which may be connected directly with the steam gun has an inclined nozzle for directing the jet of steam onto hidden hard to reach spots for cleaning radiators window and door frames bathroom fixtures and shutters To remove dirt encrusted on small surfaces such as cooker elements roller blinds and bathroom fix tures or between tiles apply the round brush 15 to the 120 tool which combines the me chanical action of bristles with steam to get rid of even the stubbornest dirt N B do not use the brush 15 on particu larly delicate surfaces as it could harm them KALSTOP Water by its nature contains magnesium mine ral salts and other deposits which in hard water areas can contribute to limescale build up in the tank In very hard water areas we recommend the use of our Kalstop FP2003 a special natu ral base decalcifier which inhibits and breaks down limescale This is a preventive against scale build up and protects the metal walls of the boiler Kalstop FP2003 can be found in small appliance stores Polti service centres and on the web site www polti com VAPORETTO FOREVER EXPRESS CARE OF YOUR APPLIANCE Before carrying out any maintenance on the device always unplug it from the power mains making sure that the product has cooled down before proceeding Af
10. ress the ON OFF switch B e Wait until the steam ready indicator light C comes on Vaporetto is now ready for use The steam sprayer 2 has a safety button 4 that prevents accidental activation of the steam delivery system by a child or other per sons unaware of how the device works When the button 4 is set to OFF the lever commanding steam is locked fig 4 To start using steam set the button 4 to ON and work the steam lever 3 Should you have to leave the appliance unat tended turn it off unplug it and position the button 4 in the OFF position The first time you use the appliance a few drops of water may come out because the temperature has not stabilised perfectly in side the sheath We recommend you direct the first jet of steam onto a cloth until the jet of steam is uniform NOTE The steam ready indicator light C will go on and off which you are using your VAPO RETTO This indicates that the electrical resi stance is working to keep pressure constant and should be considered normal VAPORETTO FOREVER EXPRESS ATTENTION if pressing the steam request lever 3 when the appliance is still pressuri sed even if off and disconnected from the mains steam may in any case be released from the flexible hose As such before tur ning the appliance off and putting it away please first press the lever 3 until the steam flow ceases ADJUSTMENT STEAM Vaporetto enables the flow of
11. rush without cloth over the surface to make dirt rise to the surface cover the brush with a cotton cloth locking it in the relevant lever hooks 9 then wipe the surface again to collect the dirt Proceed rapidly and without pressing over the carpet running the brush forward backward and sideways without pausing too long at the same point Treatment can be repeated as often as you like with no danger for the surfaces The drying is almost immediate If the carpet is very dirty or satura ted with cleaning products do not to insist too much Results will be evident only after a few uses of Vaporetto To clean stubborn stains before cleaning as indicated above direct the steam directly onto the stain with the greatest possible angle never vertically to the surface to be treated and position a cloth beyond the stain in order to collect up the dirt that has been blown away by the steam pressure 20 SMALL BRUSH WITH WINDOW CLEANING FITTING 9 Windows are washed in 2 stages e steaming the surface to dissolve dirt using the steam control lever 3 e wiping with the squeegee attachment 9 working from the top downwards making sure the rubber wiper fits closely to the glass to re move dirt without releasing steam The squeegee attachment 9 may also be used as a small steam brush for cleaning all areas where use of a large brush would be inconve nient Just cover the squeegee attachment with a terry cloth cove
12. temperature and pressure are greatest at the time of release In all cases after steaming rub more stubborn dirt with a dry cloth or abrasive sponge Use the steam gun to e treat stains on carpets or rugs before running the brush over it clean stainless steel glass mirrors layered ENGLISH ENGLISH VAPORETTO FOREVER EXPRESS and enamel coverings e clean corners that are difficult to access such as stairs window frames door frames alumi nium profiles clean hob knobs and tap bases clean shutters radiators and car interiors e steam apartment plants from a distance eliminate odours and creases from clothes If necessary areas which are hard to access extension hoses can be added to the gun FLOOR BRUSH 7 Connect the large brush connection 6 to the large brush 7 as shown in the figure 5 To clean floors attach a dry clean cloth to the brush and pass it moving from top to bottom without pressing When one side is dirty turn the cloth Use the brush without cloth over dirty or scaled areas and over tile joints making lateral move ments to lift the dirt For vertical washable surfaces or upholstery and ceilings cover the brush with a dry cloth and proceed as for the floor On all types of synthetic or wool floor wall car pets as well as area rugs Vaporetto ensures maximum hygiene giving them back their ori ginal appearance and brightening up the colours Run the b
13. ter using the brushes we recommend let ting the bristles cool down in their natural posi tion in order to avoid any deformation To clean the body of the appliance simply use a moist cloth e Clean accessories by rinsing them in running water PERIODIC CLEANING OF THE BOILER ATTENTION Risk of burns Make sure that the boiler is cold and has been disconnected from the mains for at least 2 hours To maintain optimum performance clean the boiler every 10 20 uses depending on the amount of limestone in the water Disconnect the appliance and let it cool down for at least 2 hours if it has been used Empty the water tank to prevent leakage Turn the appliance upside down and remove the boiler cap protection Fig 7 With a flat head screwdriver unscrew the boi ler cap Fig 8 Use the funnel 14 to pour 0 251 of cold water into the boiler CAUTION do not pour more than the speci fied amount of water into the boiler Pour wa ter slowly being careful not to let it overflow as this could damage the appliance Rinse out the boiler and pour the water away into the sink or into a container for collecting dirty water If the water is very dirty repeat the operation until it is clean e Screw the boiler cap back on making sure that the gasket is also present and that it is screwed on correctly Replace the protection of the boiler cap When you want to use the appliance aga
14. test on a hid den part or on a sample of the material Allow the steamed part to dry to make sure that no changes in colour or deformations have occur red Please pay careful attention when cleaning wooden and treated terracotta flooring as pro longed use of steam may damage the wax polish or colour of the surfaces to be cleaned We therefore recommend adjustment the steam to minimum if your appliance has steam adjustment and never direct the jet of steam directly on the surface but cover the brush with a cloth Do not keep spraying steam in the same place For wooden surfaces furniture doors etc we recommend cleaning with a cloth which has been steamed previously e Also on particularly delicate surfaces e g synthetic materials lacquered surfaces etc it is recommended to always cover the brushes with a cloth and to use steam to a minimum If cleaning glass surfaces in particularly low temperatures preheat the glass using the hand gun from about 50 centimetres distance from the surface to be cleaned For care of your plants vaporise at a minimum distance of 50 centimetres PRACTICAL ADVICE FOR THE USE OP THE ACCESSORIES STEAM GUN 2 Without inserting the brushes just the steam gun can be used for particular cleaning using steam and close range or not depending on the type of material and the nature of the dirt to be cleaned The more stubborn the dirt the closer the steam gun must be kept as
