27. ear 4 ON to confirm 5 Press 4 The Marmitek X 10 module with UnitCode 4 will be switched off You will hear 4 OFF to confirm 12 Changing the batteries When used normally the batteries in sensors and remote controls last about a year The life span of batteries does depend on how often a sensor is activated Preferably use alkaline batteries but never rechargeable batteries rechargeable batteries are not strong enough and will go flat within a few months even when they are seldom used Console 4xAA batteries The emergency batteries in the console ensure that even during a power cut the entire system stays operational for another 12 hours if there is no alarm e f there is an alarm during a power cut the console will not activate the siren to save battery power The telephone dialler works normally e f there is a power cut and the emergency batteries are flat all settings are stored because these are programmed into a non volatile memory EEPROM The clock will need to be reset e When you decide to turn off the security system for a longer period e g renovation work remove the batteries from the console to avoid them going flat e If the emergency batteries are empty or not installed the BATTERY indicator on the console will flash e If you open up the battery compartment to change the batteries the word TAMPER will be visible on the display After inserting the batteries and closing the compartment
