VO Professional User s Manual 3 2 Configuring the I O Professional Prior to installing the I O Professional board in your computer verify the jumper switches on the board for proper operation To do this you must know the following about your computer Are there any other hard and or floppy disk drive controllers installed in your computer Are there any serial or parallel ports currently installed in your computer If so what YO port addresses and Interrupts IRQ do they use After determining your computer s configuration by running MSD EXE make sure the port addresses and IRQs set on the I O Professional are different from any existing ports in your system A conflict results when two addresses or IRQ settings are the same Refer to the next sections for determining the correct jumper settings for configuring ports on the board 8 2 1 Setting Jumpers The 1 0 port address and interrupt request is jumper selectable for each port When setting the jumpers the terms open and closed are defined as sA Open Closed No Jumper Installed Jumper Installed NOTE An instrument such as tweezers or needlenose plierscan be used to gently remove the jumpers from the jumper blocks To install a jumper center it over the two appropriate pins and push down gently until it is seated 34 instalation 3 22 Serial Port 1 The primary Serial Port 1 provides a standard DB9 9 pin connector mount
