Random Playback With the Random function you can play tracks in ran dom order 1 Press the RANDOM button The RANDOM indicator appears on the display and random playback starts RANDOM indicator RANDOM 2 To cancel random playback stop playback or press the RAN DOM button so that the RAN DOM indicator disappears Note During random playback pressing the mea button will not select the previous track e mal En_C733_02 fm Page 13 Wednesday December 22 2004 3 07 PM Playing CDs Continued About CDs Handling CDs e Carefully lift the disc from its case making sure to Repeat Playback With the Repeat function you can play all tracks repeatedly S hold it by its edges or cen 1 During playback press the ter hole remote controller s REPEAT button The Repeat indicator appears on the display and all tracks are played repeatedly e You can use a soft dry Repeat indicator cloth to wipe dust and finger prints off the surface of CDs Do not use volatile agents such as thinner or benzene Don t use vinyl record clean 2 To cancel repeat playback press ersiorantstane agents the REPEAT button again The Repeat indicator disappears Notes e Don t keep a CD in direct sunlight or in locations subject to high humidity or low temperature e Don t leave a CD in the unit for a long period of time Repeat Memory Playback Supported

Discs If you press the REPEAT button during memory play This unit can play the following types of discs back the custom program will play repeatedly Disc mark Content Disc size Repeat Random Playback Audio compact 12 cm Audio 8 cm If you press the REPEAT button during random play CD SISMA KUDO CD single back tracks will be played in random order repeatedly You cannot play discs other than those listed above Avoid using heart shaped or octagonal discs Playing irregularly shaped discs may damage the internal mech anism of the unit Do not use discs that carry a residue from adhesive tape rental discs that have peeling labels or discs that have custom labels or stickers Otherwise you may not be able to eject the disc or the unit may become inopera tive About Playing Copy controlled CDs Some copy controlled CDs may not conform to the offi cial CD standard These special discs may not play properly on the C 733 Don t load discs that are not audio discs e g CD ROMs designed for use with computers as these may damage your speakers or amplifier 13 lt fo A En_C733_02 fm Page 14 Wednesday December 22 2004 3 07 PM Troubleshooting If you have any trouble using the C 733 look for a solution here If you can t resolve the issue yourself contact your Onkyo dealer Power Can t turn on the C 733 e Make sure that

12. emical solvents because they may damage the finish or remove the panel let tering 4 Power WARNING BEFORE PLUGGING IN THE UNIT FOR THE FIRST TIME READ THE FOLLOWING SEC TION CAREFULLY AC outlet voltages vary from country to country Make sure that the voltage in your area meets the voltage requirements printed on the unit s rear panel e g AC 230 V 50 Hz or AC 120 V 60 Hz Setting the STANDBY ON switch to STANDBY does not fully shutdown the unit If you do not intend to use the unit for an extended period remove the power cord from the AC outlet 5 Never Touch this Unit with Wet Hands Never handle this unit or its power cord while your hands are wet or damp If water or any other liquid gets inside this unit have it checked by your Onkyo dealer 6 Handling Notes e If you need to transport this unit use the original packaging to pack it how it was when you origi nally bought it e Do not leave rubber or plastic items on this unit for a long time because they may leave marks on the case e This unit s top and rear panels may get warm after prolonged use This is normal e If you do not use this unit for a long time it may not work properly the next time you turn it on so be sure to use it occasionally e When you ve finished using this unit remove all discs and turn off the power 7 Installing this Unit e Install this unit in a well ventilated location e Ensure that there s adequate ventilat
13. g such as a book on the remote con troller because the buttons may be pressed inadvert ently thereby draining the batteries The remote controller may not work reliably if the A 933 is installed in a rack behind colored glass doors Keep this in mind when installing e The remote controller will not work if there s an obsta cle between it and the A 933 s remote control sensor e mal A En_C733_02 fm Page 8 Wednesday December 22 2004 3 07 PM Connecting the C 733 About the System Functions If you connect another component from the Onkyo Separate Collection to the C 733 with the supplied RI and audio cables you can use the following system functions QI cables are special cables solely for use with Onkyo products Connecting components from the Onkyo Separate Collection See the amplifier s instruction manual Auto Power On When you turn on the power or start playback on the C 733 the amplifier will turn on automatically The ampli fier s POWER switch must be set to ON for this to work Direct Change When playback is started on the C 733 the amplifier will automatically select the CD input Remote Control Operation You can control the C 733 by using the A 933 s remote con gt See page 7 for more information troller Program Timer With an Onkyo tuner you can program its timer to automati cally start playback or recording at a specific time See the
14. ical digital audio input you can enjoy digital playback or recording Use an optical digital audio cable to connect one of the C 733 s OPTICAL DIGITAL OUT jacks to an optical digital input jack on the amplifier or recorder as shown oan OPTICAL EL Both jacks output the C 733 same signal Connect one or the other e mal iko En_C733_02 fm Page 10 Monday February 21 2005 12 32 PM Turning On the C 733 Playing CDs Turning On the C 733 STANDBY ON 1 Plug the power cord into a suit able wall outlet Press the C 733 s STANDBY ON button The C 733 turns on and the STANDBY indicator goes off OSTANDBYION To turn off the C 733 press the STANDBY ON button The C 733 will enter Standby mode The C 733 is not completely shutdown in Standby mode To turn on the Onkyo Separate Collections ON O OOO Oo oooga ooe QO RC 613S remote controller supplied with the A 933 If you re using the C 733 together with the A 933 ampli fier from the Onkyo Separate Collection press the remote controller s ON button once to turn on the A 933 and press it again to turn on the C 733 Playing CDs 1 To open the disc tray press the Open Close button Put the CD on the tray with th
15. ion all around this unit especially if it s installed in an audio rack If the ventilation is inadequate the unit may overheat leading to malfunction e Do not expose this unit to direct sunlight or heat sources because its internal temperature may rise shortening the life of the optical pickup e Avoid damp and dusty places and places subject to vibrations from loudspeakers Never put the unit on top of or directly above a loudspeaker e Install this unit horizontally Never use it on its side or on a sloping surface because it may cause a malfunction e If you install this unit near a TV radio or VCR the picture and sound quality may be affected If this occurs move this unit away from the TV radio or VCR Moisture Condensation Moisture condensation may damage this unit Read the following carefully Moisture may condense on the lens of the optical pickup one of the most important parts inside this unit e Moisture condensation can occur in the following situations The unit is moved from a cold place to a warm place A heater is turned on or cold air from an air conditioner is hitting the unit In the summer when this unit is moved from an air conditioned room to a hot and humid place The unit is used in a humid place Do not use this unit when there s the possibility of moisture condensation occurring Doing so may damage your discs and certain parts inside this unit If condensation

19. o your program use the number buttons You can add up to 25 tracks to your program For example to add track number 10 press 10 0 To add track 13 press gt 10 1 3 e Tracks can also be added by using the mea gt buttons Select the track and then press the MEM ORY button While playback is stopped you can check which tracks are in the program by using the lt gt buttons 3 To start memory playback press the Play button Memory playback stops automatically when all the tracks in the program have been played Notes e If you try to add more than 25 tracks the message FULL will appear on the display e If the total playing time of your program exceeds 99 minutes and 59 seconds will be displayed This will not affect program playback The program will be deleted when the disc tray is opened E To Stop Memory Playback Press the Stop button E To Remove the Last Track from the Program While memory playback is stopped press the CLEAR button Each time you press it the last track from the program will be removed E To Cancel Memory Playback Press the MEMORY button so that the MEMORY indicator disappears The program will be deleted Tips e During normal playback you can add the current track to the program with the MEMORY button e During memory playback you can add tracks to the program by using the number buttons
