EP 57 MISCELLANEOUS CONTROLS In addition to the standard tuning methods described previously use following controls for special operations MONO LOCALSTEREO DX SWITCH 1 When listening to FM stereo broadcasting and chy au using earphones set the switch to STEREO ee SENS DX position to enjoy stereo programs l O MONO LOCAL 2 When listening to AM MW LW SW broad casting this switch adjusts the receiver s sensitivi ea av ty When you listen to a strong station and the TEREG ae signal is slightly distored set the switch to the O LOCAL position for best reception For normal or weak stations set the switch to the DX MONS GER position for maximum sensitivity 58 HEADPHONE USE While not a control you may consider using Head phones to obtain the best audio clarity when listen ing to SW Since many SW stations broadcast only marginal signals using Headphones will enable you to distinguish between the signal and the noise usually encountered at night Be sure that the Headphones terminate in a 1 8 inch plug which is inserted into the Headphones jack located on the side of the radio marked with the symbol 7 When the Head phones are plugged in the speaker is muted Because the radio is capable of receiving FM stereo the Headphones should be stereo so that your listening will be enhanced When listening to stereo FM be sure that the FM STEREO MONO sw
