In some circumstances it may be required that your wheelchair be returned to the Gunnell Inc for repairs If any of the following conditions are observed the wheelchair must be returned to and serviced by the manufacturer e Any part of the frame is cracked or broken e Any weld is cracked or broken e Any failure or damage resulting in a Medical Device Report MDR Always contact Gunnell Inc prior to sending a wheelchair for repairs For safe and secure shipping the wheelchair must be boxed or fastened to a pallet Upon your request Gunnell Inc may arrange for pick up from your location 8 www gunnell inc com TRANSIT USE To ensure safe transit use use the following precautions CARE AND USE Locate the four transit loops on the seat cradle of the wheelchair Check the nuts and bolts of the transit loop to ensure a secure connection Engage the wheel lock to prevent the wheelchair from moving around before transportation Use at least four straps that are held by the transit loops to the floor When maintaining your wheelchair use the following instructions to help maintain your wheelchair Check all nuts and bolts and make sure that they are tightened Do NOT use WD 40 or any other mechanical lubricant on your wheelchair unless otherwise noted Check tire pressure and spokes All tire information is documented on the walls of the tire Wash your wheelchair with soap and water but be sure to dry the wheelc

Remove both footrests and set aside Locate one of the following a Desk arm brackets are located on the seat rail at the opposite end of where you removed the back canes Pinpoint the nut and bolt assemblies on each bracket With a 1 2 wrench remove both nut and bolt assemblies Set desk arm rests off to the side b Or nut and bolt assembly on the opposite end of the seat rail to the recline bracket Remove the assembly using a 7 16 wrench Locate the Receivers where you previously removed the footrests These are telescoping tubes that pull out to desired length Make sure to align the holes on the seat rail with the holes drilled in the telescoping tubes Replace the desk arm brackets ore the nut bolt assembly Tighten Replace back cane and stroller handle assembly Locating the proper holes you wish to adjust the depth to Tighten Replace footrests and tighten lever Pull up gently until the base frame and the seat frame become detached Set the seat frame down flipped over resting it on the back canes and the front rigeings of the footrests Locate the tubes that were inside of the base frame Receivers On them there will be a nut and bolt assembly on each tube There are two total Using a 7 16 wrench and an Allen Key remove the nut and bolt assemblies Move to the appropriate location for the desired adjustment 15 www gunnell inc com FOOTRESTS The first three foot hangers pictured from

6. rider must not weigh more than 250 lbs 4 The wheelchair has been tested forward facing for frontal impact Therefore the wheelchair must be forward facing during transport 5 In order to reduce the potential of injury to vehicle occupants wheelchair mounted accessories such as trays and respiratory equipment should be removed and secured separately 6 DO NOT rely on postural supports and positioning devices for occupant restraint 7 DO NOT alter or substitute wheelchair frame parts or components TRANSFER SAFETY A N TRANSFERRING TO AND FROM OTHER SEATS BEFORE attempting to transfer in or out of the wheelchair every precaution should be taken to reduce the gap distance Turn both casters toward the object you are transferring onto Be certain the wheel locks are engaged to help prevent the wheels from moving Foot plates should be in an upright position and swung out of the way when entering or exiting from the wheelchair CAUTION When transferring position yourself as far back as possible in the seat This will prevent damaged upholstery and the possibility of the wheelchair tipping forward NOTE Transfers may be done independently provided that the user can achieve adequate mobility and has sufficient upper body strength Position the wheelchair as close as possible along side the seat to which you are transferring with the front casters pointing toward it Engage wheel locks Shift body weight into seat with transf
7. tippers must be attached at all times METHOD 1 WHEELCHAIR WITH ANTI TIP DEVICE Apply a continuous downward motion until the balance point is achieved and the front casters clear the curb The caregiver will feel a difference in the weight distribution at this point Roll the wheelchair forward and slowly lower it in one continuous motion Do not allow the wheelchair to drop to the ground at all as this could result in injury to the occupant Push the wheelchair forward until the rear wheels roll up and over the curb 4 www gunnell inc com CHEST HARNESS A TRANSIT SAFETY A METHOD 2 WHEELCHAIRS WITHOUT ANTI TIP DEVICES It is recommended that two assistants are present for this method The second assistant should be positioned at the front of the wheelchair lifting upward on a non removable non detachable part of the wheelchair frame when lifting the wheelchair and stabilizing the wheelchair when the wheelchair is being lowered to the ground One assistant should be positioned on the sidewalk The wheelchair should be positioned such that the reat wheels are against the curb The wheelchair should be tilted back to the balance point by the assistant on the sidewalk In one continuous downward movement the rear wheels should be pulled up and over the curb DO NOT set the front casters back onto the ground until the device has been located back far enough that the front casters will clear the edge of the curb and rest

USTMENT The base frame can be adjusted accordingly by using the following instructions l Detach the Seat Cradle from the Base Frame Use a 7 16th wrench and an Allen Key to loosen the nuts and bolts in cross tubes The Base frame has 1 increments from hole to hole Use a 7 16 wrench and an Allan key to loosen the nuts and bolts in the cross tubes In order to expand the Seat Cradle by 1 move the nuts and bolts towards the inside by 1 increment on either side UICK RELEASE REAR WHEEL HARDWARE Quick Release Button Instructions for using the quick release hardware to release wheel Remove the user in the chair to ensure that the user does not get hurt and the chair does not risk any damage 1 Grip the base frame so that the frame doesn t just fall once the wheel axle is released 2 Press the button the arrow is pointing to it in the above picture and continue to pull the wheel and axle out of the base frame J The wheel should just slip right out Proceed to do the same for the other wheel 18 www gunnell inc com FRONT CASTERS a et aT oe wie The figure on the left depicts a standard caster assembly the figure on the right is a depiction of the two front casters and their location on the baseframe The front casters control the direction of the A N wheelchair and should be facing forward while the wheelchair is moving The front caster can change the direction

16. er During independent transfer the platform beneath the user will be limited Use a transfer board when practical 6 www gunnell inc com NEGOTIATING STAIRWAYS A GENERAL SAFETY A STAIRWAYS WARNING Do not attempt to lift a wheelchair by utilizing removable detachable parts Lifting by means of any removable detachable parts of a wheelchair may result in injury to the user assistant or damage to the device Exercise extreme caution when it is necessary to move an occupied wheelchair up or down the stairs Always use two assistants and thoroughly prepare Only use secure features or non detachable parts for assistant hand held supports when lifting the device The following procedure is recommended for moving a wheelchair between floors when an elevator is NOT available 1 After the wheelchair has been tilted back to the balance point back the wheelchair up against the first step Securely grasp a non removable non detachable part of the wheelchair for leverage 2 The second assistant should firmly hold on to a non detachable part of the framework near the front of the device Concurrently the assistants lift the wheelchair up and over one stair at a time The second assistant steadies the wheelchair as the first assistant places one foot on the next step up and repeats STEP 1 3 The wheelchair should not be lowered until the last stair has been negotiated and the wheelchair has been rolled back away from t
