However the Phaser 140 combines very fast image processing and communication with optimized printhead movement to keep the total print time to a minimum 3 28 Phaser 140 Color Printer Chapter Caring for Your Printer Overview To ensure the best print quality and the most reliable printer operation follow these two simple guidelines m If you are using coated paper glossy paper back print film or transparencies use only Tektronix media Use only Tektronix ink cartridges m If print quality degrades perform the ink jet cleaning described in this chapter User Manual 4 1 4 Caring for Your Printer Replacing an ink cartridge 4 2 If your prints show a missing or faded color you may need to replace an ink cartridge or the printer may have a clogged ink jet Open the printer s top cover and look at the ink cartridges If you can see ink in the cartridges you need to clean the ink jets see Cleaning the ink jets on page 4 10 If the cartridge looks empty you need to replace it The printer reports an empty ink cartridge with a front panel message although the message may not appear immediately The printer may produce a few poor quality prints before reporting the following message ink out color where color is replaced with cyan magenta yellow or black depending on which cartridge is out of ink Observe the following precautions when handling ink cartridges Do not remove an ink cartridge u
