Preparations g Preparations D Connections Before using the player connect the player to a TV and or amplifier Connecting to a TV The following sections to describe TV connections where only a TV is connected to the player so that you will hear audio from the TV A Connecting to a TV with the SCART connector You can enjoy using the player by simply connecting it to your television set with a 21 pin SCART cable oe oe eft yuo at Setting the VIDEO SIGNAL SELECTOR Before making connections e Do not connect the AC power cord until all other connections have been made e Connect VIDEO OUT of the player directly to the video input of your TV Connecting VIDEO OUT of the player to a TV via a VCR may cause a monitor problem when playing back a copy protected disc You may also have a monitor problem when connecting the player to an integrated TV Video system e In the following description TV may be substituted with monitor or projector e Terminal names used for other components may be different from those used in the following description NOTE When you connect a SCART cable do not connect any other cables to other video signal output jacks VIDEO S VIDEO COMPONENT VIDEO OUT If you do so you will not be able to obtain correct signals from the SCART connector of the player vile po ne oD SCART cable not su

PICTURE SOURCE This mode selects whether the content on the disc is processed by field video source or by frame film source You can obtain optimal picture quality according to the source type to be played back by selecting an appropriate option This setting is available for both the interlaced mode and progressive scanning mode Setting options VIDEO NORMAL VIDEO ACTIVE FILM AUTO VIDEO NORMAL select when playing back a video source disc with relatively a few movements VIDEO ACTIVE select when playing back a video source disc with relatively a lot of movements FILM select when playing back a film source disc AUTO select when playing back a disc containing both video and film source materials The player recognizes the picture type film or video source of the current disc according to the disc information Normally select this option SCREEN SAVER You can set the screen saver function to ON or OFF See page 13 Setting options ON OFF MP3 amp WMA JPEG The player can play MP3 WMA and JPEG files recorded on a CD R CD RW disc However if a disc contains both MP3 WMA and JPEG files you can only play files of the type selected in this menu item Setting options MP3 amp WMA JPEG MP3 amp WMA when selected only MP3 WMA files can be played back JPEG when selected only JPEG files can be played back AUDIO menu DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT To connect the player s digital output to
