Help DVD Recording FAQ Before you start using the R6530 please take a few moments to review these Frequently Asked Questions They will help you become acquainted with the technology and the capabilities of the DVD Recorder S S S Q V Re S Q S ee a Re What can I record with my DVD recorder You can record programs directly from television from your antenna basic cable cable box or satellite receiver and from vir tually any external audio video source including camcorders VCRs DVD players and more This unit will not copy Macrovi sion encoded or other copy protected material What kind of discs should I use You can only record on DVD R and DVD RW discs DVD R RW is the most compatible recordable DVD format on the mar ket today They are fully compatible with over 95 of existing DVD Video players and DVD ROM drives in computers What is the capacity of a DVD R and DVD RW disc 4 7GB or the equivalent of roughly 6 CDs You can record about one hour at the highest quality HQ and about six hours at the lowest quality SLP on a single disc What is the difference between DVD R and DVD RW DVD R is recordable and DVD RW is rewritable With a DVD R you can record multiple sessions on the same disc but when the disc is full you cannot record any more on the disc The DVD RW format allows you to record over the same disc literally hundreds of times What is DVD R and DVD RW Are th

6. e The selected Chapter is removed e This does NOT delete the contents of the Chapter only the Chapter marker Hiding a Chapter The Hide Chapter feature allows you to seamlessly skip over commercials or unwanted segments of your recordings e Cue to the Chapter in the recording you want to hide e Use the f buttons to select Hide Chapter and press Play Enter e HIDDEN appears briefly on screen e The selected Chapter is hidden and will not be visible during normal playback e To view the hidden Chapter you must select Play Full Title in the disc menu see page 27 25 Getting Started Basic Setup DVD Recording EI S SS DS a Advanced Settings Help Showing a Chapter The Show Chapter feature allows you to restore hidden Chapters In order to view hidden Chapters you must first select Play Full Title from the disc menu see page 27 This will cause hidden Chapters to play and will mark them with the label HIDDEN on the on screen display e Cue to the hidden Chapter you want to restore e The word HIDDEN appears on screen when a selected Chapter is hidden e Use the tf buttons to select Show Chapter and press Play Enter e The selected Chapter is restored and will now be visible during normal playback e Press Edit to exit the Edit menu Creating a New Thumbnail The New Thumbnail feature allows you to change the image used in the disc menu to identify each Title You can select any individual
