2. mended for tumble drying shrinking could still occur but once the garment is worn again it should regain its shape Starched Laundry Starched laundry can also be dried in the tumble dryer Make sure that the time selected is for iron dry After completion of the programme wipe out the drum with a damp cloth and dry to remove any traces of starch MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING Important You must disconnect the appliance from the elec tricity supply before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance work External cleaning Use only soap and water Rinse and dry thoroughly Important Never use abrasive or caustic products Cleaning the filter The tumble dryer cannot operate efficiently with a clogged filter The filter collects all the fluff which forms during drying and it is therefore essential to remove and clean this fil ter after each drying pro gramme You should not be alarmed by the amount of fluff which collects on the filter this is due to normal wear ing of the fabrics dried and not to incorrect operation of your machine Rubbing of the fibres during normal wear and washing forms fluff If laundry is dried on a line this fluff simply flies away whereas inside the tumble dryer it collects together and swells consider ably as a result of the drying action Cleaning the condenser unit Clean the air condenser periodically 3 or 4 times a year depending on how frequently the dryer is used Pull out

5. then be disposed of to prevent the hazard of electric shocks in case it should be plugged into a 13 Amp socket in another part of your home IMPORTANT The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accor dance with the following code Green and Yellow Earth Blue Neutral Brown Live If you fit your own plug the colours of the wires in the mains lead of your appliance may not correspond with the markings identifying the terminals in your plug To fit the plug proceed as follows GREEN amp YELLOW 13 AMP FUSE Connect the green and yellow earth wire to the termi nal in the plug which is marked with the letter E or the earth symbol or coloured green and yellow Connect the blue neutral wire to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter N or coloured black Connect the brown live wire to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter L or coloured red The plug moulded on to the lead incorporates a fuse For replacement use a 13 Amp BS1362 fuse Only ASTA or BSI approved fuses should be used The plug must not be used if the fuse cover carrier is lost The cover carrier is indicated by the coloured insert at the base of the plug A replacement cover carrier must be obtained from your local ZANUSSI Service Centre whose address is listed in the Customer Care Booklet which accompa nies your instruction manual Avoid connecting the tumble

7. e of flat floor It must be perfectly level use a spirit level if neces sary Adjust the feet to compensate for any uneven ness in the floor To ensure correct operation the surrounding area must be kept clean free of dust and fluff Air must be able to circulate freely all round the appli ance Do not obstruct the front ventilation grille or the air intake grilles in the back of the machine Do not remove the feet Do not reduce the clearance between the appliance and the floor by placing it on deep pile carpet or rugs as this could lead to a build up of heat which would adversely affect operation of the machine Important The hot air emitted by the tumble dryer can reach temperatures of up to 60 C The appliance must therefore not be installed on floors which are not resis tant to high temperatures The ambient temperature must not exceed 35 C even when the appliance is working If it does open the door or window Door Reversal Instructions The appliance is supplied with the door opening from right to left If you wish to change the opening direc tion proceed as follows see picture A 1 Unhook door stopper A from its seat a and loosen from hole b by a 90 rotation 2 Remove the plastic plug from hole c by a 90 rotation and re fix in hole b 3 Unscrew hinge B loosen the 2 screws holding the door securely and lower the door from the top pivot 4 Re insert pin F from t
8. for your usual laundry loads Do not start by selecting a long drying time It is better to determine the required degree of dryness by gradually increasing the drying time For a mixed load cotton and resistant synthetics for example select the time for the most delicate fibres and increase it by 10 mins Drying 1 Load the laundry Open the door by press ing button Y Load the items one at a time shaking them out loosely and close the door Check the laundry does not get caught between the door and filter Turn the selector dial clockwise to the required minute setting in the high or low temperature range according to the fabric The mains on light will il luminate and the dryer will start to work P0627 3 When drying is completed The machine stops automatically and the mains on light goes out If the laundry is still too damp select a further brief drying time bearing in mind that during the last 12 mi nutes the dryer carries out the cooling and anticrease treatment phase Remove the clothes from the machine Clean the filter after every drying programme A clean filter ensures correct functioning of the appliance 10 Useful hints Try to load to the maximum capacity of the machine as small loads are uneconomical For information here is a list of the average weights of some common laundry items Sheet 700 1000 g Tablecloth 400 500 g Kitchen towel 70 120
9. g Table napkin 50 100g Hand towel 150 250 g Bathrobe 1000 1500 g Man s shirt 200 300g Pillowcase 100 200 g Man s pyjamas 400 500 g Ladies nightdress 200 250g a Never tumble dry the following Particularly delicate items such as net curtains woollen silk fabrics with metal trim nylon tights bulky materials such as anoraks blankets eider downs sleeping bags feather quilts and any items containing rubber foam or materials similar to rub ber foam a Always follow the instructions on garment labels O Tumble dry normal high temperature O Tumble dry delicate low temperature E Do not tumble dry a Close pillowcases and covers with fasteners to prevent small laundry items getting tangled inside them Close press studs zips and hooks and tie belts and apron strings a Sort laundry according to type and degree of dry ing required Do not over dry laundry this avoids creasing and saves energy a Avoid drying dark clothes with light coloured fluffy items such as towels as they could attract the fluff a Remove the laundry when the dryer has finished drying a To avoid a static charge when drying is completed use either a fabric softener when you are washing the laundry or a fabric conditioner specifically for tumble dryers Laundry Shrinkage Certain fabrics such as woollens and silks are gener ally not suitable for tumble drying Due to the struc ture of some woollen garments which are recom

13. r using the appliance INSTALLATION Any electrical work required to install this appli ance should be carried out by a qualified electri cian or competent person a Make sure that the appliance does not stand on its electrical supply cable a If the machine is situated on a carpeted floor please adjust the feet in order to allow air to circulate freely USE a Always unplug the appliance after use a Clothes which are dripping wet should not be placed in the dryer Always load well spun laundry The higher the spin speed the lower the electricity consumption and the shorter the drying times a Never tumble dry items that have been in contact with chemicals such as dry cleaning fluid These are of a volatile nature and could cause an explo sion a As some bulky items such as duvets and eider downs should be dried in large commercial machines because of their bulk check with the manufacturer of the item if it is suitable for drying in a domestic machine even if the dry weight of the item is within the limit advised a Always check that no cigarette lighters have been left in pockets a Leave the door slightly ajar when not in use to pre serve the door seal a The fluff filter must be cleaned after every use a Do not operate the appliance with a damaged filter or with no filter at all as this may cause a fire Do not overload the appliance Do not allow fluff to accumulate around the dryer SERVICE R
