4. a D A ExT D Output selection signal for Scart 3 This enables selection of the source to output from Scart 3 For example to record transmissions in stereo from a stereo decoder connect a stereo decoder to Scart 1 and stereo VCR to Scart 3 then select EXT 1 as the EXT3 output The signal received through Scart 1 will output directly through Scart 3 1 Select AV connection AV connection lt Back Digital input 1 BETE A ext2 N yao T xr D Digital input 2 EXT3 input EXT3 output 2 Use lt or to change the EXT3 output option to MONITOR The picture on screen TV The last television programme selection EXT 1 The picture from equipment connected to Scart 1 EXT 2 The picture from equipment connected to Scart 2 EXT 5 The picture from equipment connected to the front input sockets Dolby Digital Dolby Digital is available from DVD players some games console players etc These must be connected using a Scart or phono lead for the picture and an optical or a coaxial cable for the sound Arrange the speakers as shown on page 6 then set up the TV as follows Connect the DVD to the TV using phono leads to the COMPONENT VIDEO INPUT or a Scart lead to EXT 2 and an optical or coaxial cable to to the optical coaxial sockets DA 1 or DA 2 Set the Digifal input 1 in the AV connection menu see page 16 to EXT 2 if Scart 2 is used or EXT 4 if the equipment is connected to COMPONENT VI

DEO INPUT If external front speakers are connected the External speaker switch on the back of the TV must be set to EXT see page 6 The centre channel will not be heard without external front speakers connected Make sure the rear speakers are connected then in the Feature Menu press W to select Surround set up Use gt to set the Rear speaker option in the Surround set up menu to YES Press to select Surround out and set the option to SP OUT Surround speakers out 4 Back Rear speaker SP OUT Surround test Delay time If an external amplifier is to be used to power the surround speakers set the Surround out option to EXTERNAL No sound will come from the surround sound terminals if this option is chosen 4 Back Rear speaker U r EXTERNAL Surround test Delay time If the Rear speaker option is set to NO no sound will be heard from the rear speakers and the Surround out option will not be selectable 17 Delay time If the rear speakers and seating are a long way from the TV the sound from the rear speakers will reach you before the sound from the front A higher setting in the Delay time option can restore the correct balance Select Surround set up from the Feature menu Select the Delay time option use lt or to adjust the setting to a suitable value Press EXIT to finish Sound adjustment Set the volume and balance of the front speakers Play a Dolby Digital film and press

DEO INPUT EXT4 Digital Audio on the screen indicates that the external source has been set as a digital audio input An S e g EXT3S indicates the input is set for an S Video signal Input selection Digital Audio signal This set is provided with 2 digital audio inputs DA 1 and DA 2 so that equipment can stay permanently connected For example connect the video signal from a DVD to the Component Video Input EXT4 and from a games console to Scart 2 EXT2 connect the audio cables to the inputs on the back of the set Match the two up as follows If DA 1 optical has been connected to the DVD player select AV connection from the Feature menu and press to highlight Digital input 1 then press lt or to select EXT 4 AV connection Digital input 1 Digital input 2 EXT3 input EXT3 output For the second connection press to highlight Digital input 2 coaxial then lt or to select EXT 2 for the games console 16 Input selection Video signal This specifies the type of signal going into Scart 3 EXT3 on the back of the TV Please refer to the manufacturers instructions for the connected equipment 1 From the Feature menu select AV connection and with or select either AV or S VIDEO as the required input for EXT3 If the colour is missing try the alternative setting AV connection lt Back Digital input 1 Digital input 2 EXT3 input EXT3 output 4 EXT4 gt A exa D I

Due to the range of widescreen formats 16 9 14 9 20 9 etc black bars moy be visible on the top and bottom of the screen Use this setting to view a true 4 3 4 3 broadcast Using the special functions to change the size of the displayed image i e changing the height width ratio for the purposes of public display or commerical gain may infringe on copyright laws 12 Picture controls Picture preferences This television offers the choice of personalising the picture style Press BK to view the different styles available Picture mode 1 to 3 are preset options and Picture mode M stores your own settings 1 Select Picture from the top menu bar Picture Contrast Brightness Colour Tint Sharpness Scan mode DNR UUT gt EVC gt EXIT MOKSA 2 Use lt or to adjust the Contrast Brightness Colour Tint and Sharpness The Tint can only be adjusted on a signal from an NTSC video recorder or DVD player when the television is in AUTO colour mode Scan mode Scan mode has four options NATURAL ACTIVE and 100Hz settings run at 100Hz and reduce background flicker The NATURAL setting normally gives the better picture but for programmes such as football matches ACTIVE or 100Hz may give a smoother result PROGRESS Progressive is 50Hz for PAL images and is also particularly suited to 60Hz NTSC images 1 Select Scan mode from the Picture menu With or gt select NATURAL ACTIVE 100Hz

16. he same time Press the centre of the flap to open it Whilst all the necessary adjustments and controls for the TV are made using the remote control the buttons on the TV may be used for some functions Switching on If the power on light is unlit press the POWER button on the front of the TV to switch the set on then press a number button on the remote control to see the screen To put the set into Standby press Q on the remote control To view the TV press C again or any of the number buttons The picture may take a few seconds to appear Standby should only be used for short periods of time To set up the TV you will now need to use the on screen menus Press the MENU button on the remote control to see the top menu bar This white menu bar will show five different topics shown in symbols As each symbol is selected by pressing the lt or button on the remote control its respective options will appear below To use the options press the button on the remote control to move down through them and lt or to select the required choice Follow the on screen instructions The functions of each menu are described in detail throughout the manual Green Timer is set RED Power on Power Button Using the controls and connections To alter the volume press lt 1 To alter the programme position press W P A Press MENU and lt or A to control the sound and picture options Press EXIT t
17. hen required These are suggested positions only Place the speakers to suit and adjust the balance as necessary Extension front speaker connections To connect extension front speakers press the connectors of the Main speaker terminals on the back of the TV and insert the cables The switch must now be set to EXT as shown Make sure that the lead with the stripe or raised edge is connected to the RED terminal and the other smooth lead is connected to the BLACK terminal Surround speaker connections K SURROUND 8Q To connect surround speakers press the connectors of the Surround speaker terminals on the back of the TV and insert the cables These speakers should be sited in line with the normal viewing position Make sure that the lead with the stripe or raised edge is connected to the RED terminal and the other smooth lead is connected to the BLACK terminal Using an external amplifier SURROUND OUT VARIABLE AUDIO YO Ri 4 Ca FIXED To use an external amplifier to power the surround speakers insert the phono plugs into the Surround out connections on the back of the TV No sound will come from the Surround Sound terminals if this option is chosen Front connections and controls A wide variety of external equipment can be connected via the sockets located behind the flap on the TV Do not use the S Video and Video sockets at t

19. l page In AUTO mode this displays the main subjects available and their relevant page numbers In LIST mode this displays whichever page number is currently stored on the RED button In either mode any teletext page can be accessed by entering the 3 digit page number using the numbered buttons pressing the coloured buttons or pressing P A A to advance to the next page and P W to go back to the previous page Sub pages If there are sub pages they will automatically load into memory without changing the page on screen 19 Arrows will appear alongside the page number indicating sub pages have loaded O To alter the volume sub pages must be cancelled by pressing EDO To access the sub pages press D then use and to view them An indicator will show on the bottom left of the screen After a short time of inactivity the indicator will disappear To access the sub pages again press These sub pages will remain available to view until another page is chosen or in normal TV mode the channel is changed Navigating pages using Auto If FASTEXT is available four coloured titles will appear at the base of the screen To access one of the four given subjects press the relevant coloured button on the remote control For further information on your particular text system s see the broadcast teletext index page or consult your local Toshiba dealer Navigating pages using List The four col
