EAU11030 Turn signal indicator lights lt and gt The corresponding indicator light flash es when the turn signal switch is pushed to the left or right 4 2 EAU11060 Neutral indicator light N This indicator light comes on when the transmission is in the neutral position EAU11080 High beam indicator light zo This indicator light comes on when the high beam of the headlight is switched on EAU11254 Oil level warning light This warning light comes on if the en gine oil level is low The electrical circuit of the warning light can be checked by turning the key to ON The warning light should come on for a few seconds and then go off If the warning light does not come on initially when the key is turned to ON or if the warning light remains on have a Yamaha dealer check the electrical circuit TIP e Evenifthe oil level is sufficient the warning light may flicker when riding on a slope or during sudden acceleration or deceleration but this is not a malfunction INSTRUMENT AND CONTROL FUNCTIONS e This model is also equipped with a self diagnosis device for the oil level detection circuit If a problem is detected in the oil level detection circuit the following cycle will be repeated until the malfunction is corrected The oil level warning light will flash ten times then go off for 2 5 seconds If this occurs have a Yamaha dealer check the vehic

ECA10800 NOTICE e Apply spray oil and wax spar ingly and make sure to wipe off any excess Never apply oil or wax to any rubber and plastic parts but treat them with a suitable care product Avoid using abrasive polishing compounds as they will wear away the paint Consult a Yamaha dealer for ad vice on what products to use Washing rainy weather or humid climates can cause the headlight lens to fog Turning the headlight on for a short period of time will help remove the moisture from the lens EAU26182 Storage Short term Always store your motorcycle in a cool dry place and if necessary protect it against dust with a porous cover Be sure the engine and the exhaust sys tem are cool before covering the motor cycle ECA10810 NOTICE e Storing the motorcycle in a poorly ventilated room or cover ing it with a tarp while it is still wet will allow water and humid ity to seep in and cause rust e To prevent corrosion avoid damp cellars stables because of the presence of ammonia and areas where strong chemi cals are stored Long term Before storing your motorcycle for sev eral months 1 Follow all the instructions in the Care section of this chapter MOTORCYCLE CARE AND STORAGE 2 Fill up the fuel tank and add fuel stabilizer if available to prevent the fuel tank from rusting and the fuel from deteriorating Perform the following steps to pro tect the cylinders

107. the tita nium muffler as they will remove the finish on the outer surface of the muffler Even the smallest amounts of oil such as from oily towels or finger prints will leave stains on the tita nium muffler which can be removed with a mild detergent Note that the thermally induced discoloring of the portion of the ex haust pipe leading into the titanium muffler is normal and cannot be re moved After cleaning 1 ER C 3 Dry the motorcycle with a chamois or an absorbing cloth Immediately dry the drive chain and lubricate it to prevent it from rusting Use a chrome polish to shine chrome aluminum and stainless steel parts 4 To prevent corrosion it is recom mended to apply a corrosion pro tection spray on all metal including chrome and nickel plat ed surfaces Use spray oil as a universal clean er to remove any remaining dirt Touch up minor paint damage caused by stones etc Wax all painted surfaces Let the motorcycle dry completely before storing or covering it EWA11131 Contaminants on the brakes or tires can cause loss of control Make sure that there is no oil or wax on the brakes or tires If necessary clean the brake discs and brake linings with a regular brake disc cleaner or ac etone and wash the tires with warm water and a mild deter gent Before riding at higher speeds test the motorcycle s braking performance and cor nering behavior 8 3
