OPERATOR SAFETY A DANGER RISK OF CUT KEEP HANDS AWAY FROM BLADE Blade moves momentarily after the trigger is re leased Do not attempt to clear away cut ma terial when the blade is in motion Make sure the switch is in the OFF position the spark plug wire is disconnected and the blade has stopped moving before removing jammed material from the cutting blade Do not grab or hold the unit by the cutting blade Dress properly Always wear safety glasses or similar eye protection when operating or performing maintenance on your unit safety glasses are available Eye protection should be marked Z87 Always wear heavy long pants long sleeves boots and gloves Always wear foot protection Do not go bare foot or wear sandals Secure hair above shoulder length Secure or remove loose clothing or clothing with loosely hanging ties straps tassels etc They can be caught in moving parts Being fully covered also helps protect you from debris and pieces of toxic plants thrown by blade Stay alert Do not operate when you are tired ill upset or under the influence of alcohol drugs or medication Watch what you are do ing use common sense Wear hearing protection Never start or run inside a closed room or building Breathing exhaust fumes can kill Keep handles free of oil and fuel Keep hands and feet away from cutting area Hold the unit firmly with both hands Do not overreach or use from unstable sur faces suc

ENT CAUTION When removing or installing at tachments place the powerhead and attach ment on a flat surface for stability 1 Loosen the coupler by turning the knob counterclockwise Fixed Screw Adjustment Pi Holder ANGLE ADJUSTMENT HOLDER The ANGLE ADJUSTMENT HOLDER is used to adjust the angle of the hedge trimmer to suit the area you are trimming Upper Shaft A Coupler Lower Attachment TIGHTEN Knob 2 Press and hold the locking release button Locking Release Button LR Lower Attachment 3 While securely holding the upper shaft pull the attachment straight out ofthe cou pler INSTALLING ATTACHMENT 1 Removethe shaft cap from the attachment if present and discard 2 Position locking release button of attach ment into guide recess of upper shaft cou pler 3 Push the attachment into the coupler until the locking release button snaps into the primary hole 4 Before using the unit tighten the knob se curely by turning clockwise Coupler Primary Hole Guide Recess lt dl You Upper Locking Attachment Shaft Release Button WARNING Make sure the locking release button is locked in the primary hole and the knob is securely tightened before op erating the unit Using the wrong hole could lead to serious injury or damage to the unit Locking Release Button in Primary Hole OPERATING POSITION When operating unit stand as shown and check for th

8. e following e Wear head protection eye protection hear ing protection and heavy clothing Keep right arm slightly bent with right hand holding the trigger handle of powerhead Keep left arm extended with left hand hold ing the handle e Keep unit below waist level OPERATING TIPS Allow the engine to warm up before you begin trimming Increase the engine speed before placing the blade in the cut For best results run the en gine at full throttle while cutting Never attempt to use this hedge trimmer to cut hedges that have any branches with a diameter larger than 5 8 1 5 cm To trim new growth use a wide sweeping motion feeding the blade teeth through the hedge or twigs The most effective cutting is achieved with a slight downward tilt of the blade Wear gloves when trimming thorny or prickly growth When trimming new growth use a wide sweeping action so that the stems are fed directly into the cutting blade Older growth will have thicker stems and will be trimmed easiest by using a sawing move ment Do not rush the work but work steadily until all the branches have been cut back cleanly Use a horizontal cutting position to even the tops of bushes shrubs or hedges Use a vertical cutting position to trim the sides of shrubs bushes or hedges Always cut upward from the bottom WARNING Keep the blade area clean Always release the throttle trigger move the powerhead ON OFF switch to the OFF position di
9. entilated areas or where dust or ex plosive vapors can build up e To reduce the risk of electric shock the powerhead may have a polarized plug one blade is wider than the other if so it will re quire the use of a polarized extension cord The appliance plug will fit into a polarized extension cord only one way If the plug does nat fit fully into the extension cord re verse the plug If the plug still does not fit obtain a correct polarized extension cord A polarized extension cord will require the use of a polarized wall outlet This plug will fit into the polarized wall outlet only one way If plug does not fit fully into the wall outlet reverse the plug If it still does not fit contact a qualified electrician to install the proper wall outlet Do notchange the equip ment plug extension cord receptacle or extension cord plug in any way To reduce risk of electrical shock use ex tension cords specifically marked as suit able for outdoor appliances having electri cal rating not less than the rating of unit Cord must be marked with suffix W A in Canada W Make sure your extension cordis in good condition Inspect extension cord before use and replace if damaged Do not use a damaged cord Cord insulation must be intact with no cracks or deteriora tion Plug connectors must be undamaged The extension cord used to reach the pow er source must be heavy enough to carry current from the power source
