EN 31 ENGLISH Cleaning Be sure to turn off the main power switch and unplug the power cord before you start cleaning To clean the filter Clean the filter as frequently as possible or once per month Dust collecting on the filter of the intake vent may cause the temperature inside the projector to abnormally rise damaging the parts inside and affecting the projector s lifetime resulting in a breakdown When the temperature inside the projector abnormally rises the TEMP indicator starts blinking red the power is turned off and the projector goes into a standby state with the lamp off How to clean the filter of the intake vent 1 Reverse the projector 2 While pressing the tabs on the filter cover remove the filter cover in the direction of the arrow 3 Remove the filter 4 Clean the filter e Wash the filter with water or if dust and dirt are stubborn wash it with diluted detergent and then rinse it with water sufficiently After washing dry it well Attach the filter to the projector 6 Attach the filter cover to the projector Make sure that the filter is attached correctly e fdirt on the filter cannot be removed or the filter should be damaged contact your dealer for purchase of another filter Be sure to attach the filter to the projector Without the filter dust and foreign objects may enter the inside of the projector causing a fire or breakdown Cleaning dust in th

CE button on the projector at the same time 3 Press the A or V button to select an item to adjust 4 Adjust the selected item by pressing the lt or gt button To cancel the menu 5 Press the MENU button EN 29 ENGLISH Replacing the lamp This projector is equipped with a lamp to project images This lamp is a consumable It may burn out or its brightness may decrease during use In such cases replace the lamp with a new one as soon as possible Be sure to replace the lamp with a new lamp separately sold that is exclusive to HC2000 Contact your dealer for purchase of the lamp WARNING Besure to turn off the main power switch and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet before replacing the lamp Lamp replacement without turning off the main power switch may result in electric shock e careful not to drop the lamp fixing screws into the inside of the projector Don t put a metal piece or flammable object into the projector Using the projector with any foreign object present inside may result in electric shock or fire When you can t remove the foreign object from the inside contact your dealer for removal e Besure to install the lamp securely When the lamp isn t installed properly it won t illuminate Improper installation may also result in fire Don t shake the removed lamp or don t lift it above your face You may be injured in your eye by flying or falling glass fragments e Don t replace the lamp

24. all the screen where it is exposed to direct sunlight or lighting Light directly reflecting on the screen makes the projected images whitish and hard to view Basic setup Determine the distance from the screen to the projector according to the size of the images to be projected See Pages 12 and 13 Do not place this projector on a carpet or blanket because the exhaust vent and the intake vent on the bottom surface are blocked and the inside of the projector is heated causing a breakdown or fire Depending on the installation conditions warm air that is emitted from the exhaust vents may flow into the intake vent causing the projector to display OVER TEMPERATURE and then stop projecting images In such a case attach the cushion that comes with the projector to the bottom surface of the projector as shown below Adjusting the projection angle This projector is provided with four feet for adjusting the projection angle on the bottom surface Adjust the projection angle depending on the position of the projector Turn the feet for adjusting the projection angle to the left or right to adjust their length T Feet for adjusting the projection angle front Cushion accessory Attach it near the feet Feet for adjusting the projection angle rear When projected images are distorted to a trapezoid When the screen and the projector are not placed perpendicularly

28. d is not a malfunction Fine streaks are seen on projected images This is due to interference with the screen surface and is not a malfunction Replace the screen or displace the focus a little Projected images become wavy Connect the plugs of the cables to external devices securely Keep the projector away from devices that emit interfering radio waves Hue is not appropriate Others The exhaust vents emit warm air Check that COMPONENT in the INSTALLATION menu has been set correctly See Page 25 Check that the cables connected to the external devices are not broken This air comes out after cooling the inside of the projector You may feel hot but this is not a malfunction Menus cannot be set Being affected by noise the microcomputer inside the projector may be working wrongly 2 Turn off the power wait for two minutes and then turn it back on When you cannot turn off the power turn off the main power leave the projector alone for at least 20 minutes and then turn back on the power Abnormal sound is heard Because the color wheel spins at a high speed metallic sounds may be heard in rare occasions Such symptom is not a malfunction If the following problem occurs after the lamp is replaced check the following first Problem The projector does not turn on Solution Fit the lamp cover securely See Pages 30 and 31 Reset the lamp operating time See Page 3

33. fully When the bulb has exploded rough removal of the lamp may cause glass fragments to scatter Do not spill water on the lamp or do not place it where children can reach or near flammables You may get burned or injured 6 Hold the handle of the new lamp and insert the lamp in the opening in the projector to the end in the correct orientation 7 Press the handle into its storing position e Make sure that the handle is securely locked 8 Tighten the three fixing screws b securely using a flatblade driver 9 Mount the lamp cover on the projector and fix the lamp cover fixing screw a securely using a hexagon wrench 2 face 3 mm e When the lamp cover is not mounted correctly the projector is not turned on How to reset the lamp operating time 1 2 3 Display the OPTION menu Select LAMP HOUR by pressing the A or W button Press the ENTER button The LAMP HOUR menu appears Select LAMP RESET by pressing the lt or gt button Select YES by pressing the A or W button Press the ENTER button The lamp operating time is reset To cancel the menu Press the MENU button When the lamp operating time has exceeded 1500 hours a warning indication is kept displayed on the screen even after the lamp is replaced until the lamp operating time is reset Do not reset the lamp operating time unless you replace the lamp The lamp in this product contains mercury Please dispose of properly
34. gn the left edge of the image with the left side of the screen by adjusting H POSITION Then align the right edge of the image with the right side of the screen by adjusting TRACKING 2 Repeat step 1 above to complete the adjustment of the horizontal position To adjust the vertical position 3 Align the upper edge of the image with the upper side of the screen by adjusting V POSITION Special initial settings In addition to the general image adjustment items this projector has the following CWSED 5 items as hidden adjustment items LPF Progressive filter You can select whether or not to enable the LPF This item is set to OFF normally Vertical or horizontal streak noise may appear on the projected image depending on the type of the DVD player you use In such a case you can reduce such streak noise by enabling the LPF However projected images become softened slightly CW SPEED Color wheel control You can change the rotation speed of the color wheel This item is set to 5 normally 5 x5 The rotation speed of the color wheel increases reducing color breaking noise 4 x4 Reproducibility of the color shades increases e The projected image is distorted momentarily when you change the setting value Such symptom occurs because of variation in the rotation speed of the color wheel and is not a malfunction 1 Press the MENU button to display the top menu 2 Press the AUTO POSITION button and the SOUR

37. i Lighting in blue blue Power can not be turned OFF e It may take about one minute for the lamp to light up e The lamp fails to light up on rare occasions In such a case wait for a few minutes and then try again 3 Select an input source e Press the SOURCE button on the projector or any of the SOURCE buttons such as DVI D DVI A COMP S Video Video and BNC on the remote control that is corresponding to the terminal in use e Switch the input source after an image is projected on the screen e Though it may take some time before an image is displayed on the screen depending on the type of the input signal such symptom is not a malfunction e Some images become easier to view when the setting of aspect ratio is changed See Page 18 4 Adjust the position of the projector to keep an appropriate projection distance with which images are projected in their specified sizes 5 Adjust the position of the projector so that the projector and the screen are perpendicular to each other See Page 11 e When the projector cannot be positioned perpendicularly to the screen adjust the projection angle See Page 11 6 Adjust the size of the projected image by pressing the ZOOM IN or OUT button on the projector or the remote control 7 Adjust the focus by pressing the FOCUS or FOCUS button on the projector or the remote control 8 Adjust the image position by turning the lens shift dial of the projector
38. immediately after use because the lamp cover is very hot You may get burned Turn off the power using the POWER button After the lamp goes out wait about two minutes until the intake and exhaust fans for cooling the lamp stop rotating Then turn off the main power switch unplug the power cord and wait at least one hour to allow the lamp to cool down enough to the touch CAUTION When the lamp operating time exceeds 1470 hours 1 a warning indication is displayed on the screen for one minute When it exceeds 1500 hours 1 2 the warning indication is kept displayed on the screen In such a case replace the lamp with a new one immediately Don t remove the lamp for any purpose other than replacement Unnecessary removal of the lamp may result in a breakdown e This projector uses a high pressure mercury lamp as the light source The high pressure mercury lamp may explode or fail to illuminate permanently because of an impact scratch or deterioration through use The period of time until explosion or permanent failure to illuminate varies considerably from lamp to lamp depending on operation conditions Therefore the lamp may explode soon after the start of use e The possibility of explosion of the lamp increases if you use it beyond its replacement period When the instruction of lamp replacement appears replace it with a new one immediately even if the lamp is still lighting normally When the high pressure mercury lamp explodes glas
