10. 16 20     Failure to properly secure the safety seat in a rear facing position  within the vehicle increases the child   s risk of serious injury or death in    the event of a sharp turn  sudden stop or crash     Carefully follow these instructions and those in your vehicle owner s  manual to be sure your safety seat is properly located  positioned  and  held tightly at all times        Preparation and Initial Safety Checks    1  Make sure vehicle is on level ground so that the    level indicator  which is attached to the safety seat        can be used to properly recline the safety seat       2  Make sure you have selected a suitable location  for the safety seat as explained in section 4      Selecting a Suitable Location for the Safety Seat      page 13     3  Check again to be sure that the vehicle seat does  not have an air bag  and that an adjacent seat   s air  bag will not strike the safety seat        4  If a front passenger seat is used  slide the vehicle seat rearward as far as  possible from the dashboard  If a rear seat is used  make sure the seat in  front of it is moved forward enough and is upright enough to allow room  for the safety seat     5  Be sure that the vehicle seat is locked in position and cannot swing  freely down toward the child           D    Positioning and Securing the Safety Seat Base    6  Remove safety seat from base  regardless of whether or not you plan on  using the base  Squeeze the base release handle at the back of the safety  seat a

Assemble Rear Axle    Step 1  Brake  wire slot  Push rear axle mounts onto    brake wire as shown  It is very  important to insert the brake  wire into the axle mounts  correctly  If it is not  the brakes  will not work properly     ess Push rear axle a  mounts onto brake wire  ai                  Brake wire  angles toward  rear of stroller    Step 2     Turn stroller over as pictured above     Step 3     Position rear axle mount assembly and brake wire as shown   Push assembly onto rear legs until plastic tabs snap into the  slots on the legs     Step 4     Pull firmly on each axle mount to be sure it is securely  attached     If the axle mounts do not snap on the legs  they may be  facing the wrong way  Remove the axle mounts with  brake wire and face them the other way     Step 5     Insert rear axle  longer axle    through holes in the rear axle   mounts  It may be necessary to   twist the axle mount slightly to Axle  get the axle through the holes     To Assemble Rear Wheels    Place parts in order on rear axle as shown  If the hub  adapter will not go against the rear axle mount  push the  brake wire down and check to make sure the hub adapter is  aligned in the wheel correctly          Hub adapter  toward inside    Wheel    pH       Cap  white   Rear Attach AFTER  axle retainer is on axle    Retainer  red   Wide end toward wheel    Be sure cap is snapped securely over red retainer     To Assemble Front Axle     Pointed    side to  Step 1  Bach    HN    Put both front a

Fold Stroller    Before folding the stroller   1  Fold the canopy    2  Lock the front swivels   on certain models      Step 1     Fully recline the seat back     Step 2     Pull latches up to release  and fold handle down     OR    On other models     1  Slide red button on handle  to the right     2  Twist grip away from  yourself until it stops     3  Push stroller handle down     Step 3     Close completely and fasten    the storage latch to the handle     The following optional features  are found only on certain models     To Use Parent   s Tray   one of two styles      A WARNING To avoid  burns  never put hot  liquids on the parent   s  tray  To prevent tipping  over  do not place more  than 3 Ibs   1 4 kg  on the  parent   s tray     Snap parent s tray to stroller handle as shown     11          OR    For trays with an adapter     Step 1     Push the screw through the  hole on the handle of the  stroller and line up the  adapter as shown        Step 2     screw the adapter halfway  on and then snap the  adapter to the stroller  handle  Finish tightening  the screw     Step 3     Snap one pin on the parent  tray into the hole in the  stroller handle as shown   Repeat on other side  Rest  the tray on the adapters        To Use Child   s Tray       A WARNING Always secure your child with  the seat belt  The child   s tray is not a restraint  device     DO NOT lift the stroller by the child   s tray     Only use safety seat if your model has a child   s tray  designed for

14. ase handle at back of the safety  seat to release the attachment latch  Lift safety seat     from base as shown       2  To reattach seat  push it down until the safety seat  clicks into base        3  Pull up on safety seat to be sure it 1s latched  firmly into base     5 4 Adjusting the Handle    The handle can lock into any of three positions  for carrying  reclining  or sitting   To adjust the handle     1  Press handle adjustment buttons on both  sides of handle       2  Slowly rotate handle out of its locked  position         amp     28      3  Release buttons and rotate handle until  it clicks into desired position and both  handle adjustment buttons pop out       4  Push on the handle to be sure it is  locked firmly in position     Carrying                2 Reclining     E  Sitting    5 5 Attaching the Canopy    The fabric canopy comes disassembled with four identical plastic supports   The supports are straight at one end and are shaped like a    C    at the other end   To assemble and attach the canopy to the safety seat     1  Thread straight end of a support all the way  through a sewn tunnel in the fabric canopy until  the end of the support comes through the other  side of the canopy          2  Slide straight end of another support into     the straight end of the support which has been SS  pushed through the canopy E  N Ee    3  Using remaining supports  repeat steps 1 and  2 for the other canopy tunnel  The canopy will  look like the picture E     4  On each 
15. belt back into its  retractor while pushing down hard on the safety  seat or base  Make sure that seat belt is locked  in place and very tight        e A manually adjusted lap belt    is tightened   by pulling on the excess belt while pushing down   hard on the safety seat or base  However  you     may have trouble tightening the belt because of  the upright angle at which you must pull  You  may have to unbuckle the seat belt  estimate a  seat belt length that will make the seat belt very  tight  then buckle it again        12  Tightening a lap shoulder combination belt     e A lap shoulder combination belt with a  locking latchplate   is tightened by pulling  hard on the shoulder portion of the seat belt  while pushing down hard on the safety seat   However  you may have trouble tightening the    ED             belt because of the upright angle at which you must pull  You may have to  unbuckle the seat belt  estimate a seat belt length that will make the seat  belt very tight  then buckle it again     e A lap shoulder combination belt with a latchplate that can slide  freely along the belt   requires the locking clip  unless your vehicle   s  seat belt can be converted in another way that is described in your vehicle  owner   s manual  See your vehicle owner   s manual to find out if your seat  belt can be converted to prevent movement of the lap  portion of the belt  Otherwise  the locking clip MUST    be used  The locking clip will keep the lap shoulder  belt from sliding
16. both straps  are flat and tight on your child   s shoulders     9  Position the harness clip at the middle of the  child   s chest  level with the armpits and away  from the child   s neck        10  Check that the harness straps are not twisted   Also  check that the harness is snug  You should not  be able to insert more than one finger between the  harness and your child   s shoulder              Models with Either Harness Style    11  Some infants may need extra support    to keep their head and body in a comfort   able position  Your model may include a  head support cushion  To use the cushion   unsnap the sides and resnap them with  the harness straps threaded through the  slots in the cushion          If your model does not include   a head support  you may want to  use a rolled towel or a blanket   BUT MAKE SURE THAT THESE  OBJECTS DO NOT INTERFERE  WITH THE HARNESS    It must  still be flat and snug against your  child   s shoulders            8  Securing the Safety Seat Base in Your Vehicle    There are many kinds of vehicles  seat belts  and occupant protection systems   As a result  it is not possible for this manual to tell you everything you need  to know about putting this safety seat in your vehicle  You must carefully  follow the instructions provided by your vehicle manufacturer  in addition to  the information in this manual  Before proceeding  be sure you have read and  understood section 4 3     Be Sure Your Vehicle Seat Belt is Safe to Use    on  pages

18. e be properly  reclined  Attached to the side of your safety seat is a level indicator to help  properly recline the safety seat base on the vehicle seat     Failure to properly recline the safety seat on the vehicle seat increases  the risk of serious injury or death     If the safety seat is too upright  a child s head may  drop forward and cause breathing problems     If the safety seat is too reclined  a crash could put  too much force on a child   s neck and shoulders     The safety seat must be properly reclined  according to the following instructions        Adjustable Base     14  Make sure the safety seat base is not tilted sideways on the vehicle  seat  Check the level indicator  You must look straight on at the indicator     e If the indicator shows ONLY blue  the safety seat is properly leveled     e If any orange is showing in the level indicator  the safety seat is either  too upright or too reclined  To correct the problem  first note the degree  of correction needed  then follow the instructions below     Loosen the base by releasing the seat  belt to access the recline adjustment knob       If the safety seat is too upright  turn  the knob clockwise to increase the  recline    If you still need more recline   after the adjustment foot is completely Co  extended  place rolled towels under foot   until indicator shows ONLY blue     If the safety seat is too reclined  retract  the adjustment foot into the base by  turning the knob counterclockwise or  shift safe

41. with 3 Point Harness    Harness anchor    1  From the back of the safety seat  push a  corner of the harness anchor buckle back into   its harness slot  From the front of the safety seat   use the harness strap to pull the buckle through  the slot                Harness  tightener    2  Insert the harness anchor buckle all the way  through the appropriate slot as determined in  step 2 on page 31       3  From the back of the safety seat  loosen and  remove the other harness strap from the harness  tightener  From the front of the safety seat  pull  the harness strap through the slot        4  Insert the harness strap through the appropriate  slot  Thread the harness strap through the tightener  exactly as shown in the picture E        5  Inspect the harness straps from the front and  back of the safety seat to be sure they are not  twisted  Twisted belts can create slack in the  harness straps and reduce the protection provided  by the safety seat     6  Pull on the harness straps from the front of the  safety seat to be sure the straps are secure  Make  sure the harness anchor buckle is snapped in flat  against the back of the seat as shown          D  Models with 5 Point Harness    1  Locate the harness adjustment button under  the seat flap  Depress the harness adjustment  button and pull the shoulder straps out to  loosen the harness       2  Behind the seat  pull the adjustment strap  down until the metal junction plate is below  the owner   s manual pocket  Remove the e
42. xle mounts on  the frame   The pointed side of  the axle mount faces the rear of  the stroller      Step 2     Put the axle through the hole in the  axle mount and frame  It may be  necessary to twist the axle mount  slightly to get the axle into the hole        To Assemble Front Wheels     Place parts in order on front axle as shown  Push  red retainer onto axle BEFORE attaching white cap   Repeat on other side     Wheel       d     cap    white   AAE Attach AFTER  retainer is on axle  Retainer  red   Wide end oe epes    Be sure cap is snapped securely over red retainer     To Assemble Front Swivel Wheels     A WARNING To prevent pA    serious injury or death fa  from choking  remove and  IMMEDIATELY discard plastic  end caps on the front leg pins         End cap    Step 1     Line up pin with a wheel  assembly as shown  Plastic  snap inside wheel mount  must be away from pin     Step 2     Push wheel assembly onto pin  until it snaps into place        Step 3     Repeat for other wheel assembly     Pull firmly on each wheel assembly to be sure the  wheel assemblies are securely attached       On certain models    8    To Unfold Stroller    Step 1     Release storage latch located  by the stroller handle and  begin opening stroller        Step 2     Continue unfolding until both  latches lock     To Use Brakes    A WARNING Always apply    brakes when parking stroller     Push DOWN FIRMLY to park     Check to make sure brake is on  by trying to push the stroller        Lift UP
