2. 25 Page 15 3 Remove the screen by lifting up and away from the unit Or if so equipped remove the glass panel by rotating the two cams toward the front of the firebox Lift the panel up and off of the firebox frame Fig 34 4 Carefully inspect the log set for damage Contact your local dealer if any damage is evident DO NOT OPERATE THE HEATER WITH A DAMAGED OR LOOSE LOG SET Use a soft bristled brush vacuum cleaner attach ment to remove dust or debris from the log set pilot and burner Use care as the log set is fragile 5 Inspect the catalytic combustor at the top of the firebox Replace the combustor if any damage or deterioration is evident 6 Replace the screen or glass panel and the front plate DO NOT OPERATE THE HEATER WITH THE SCREEN GLASS PANEL OR FRONT PLATE REMOVED Fig 34 Remove the screen or glass panel Glass Replacement If so equipped do not operate this appliance with the glass panel cracked broken or removed Replace damaged glass only with an approved ceramic glass panel Follow the Cleaning Procedure instructions regarding parts removal Care of Cast iron An occasional dusting with a dry rag will help keep the painted surfaces looking new Use high temperature stove paints available through your local dealer to touch up areas as needed Clean areas to be painted with a wire brush and be sure to cover the log set burner and valve assembly Apply the paint sparingl

Fig 25 then seat the front against the sides so the tabs at the bottom lip engage with the notches in the stove legs Engage steel tabs behind the cast iron bosses Control Door Bottom Tabs engage notch in the leg Fig 25 Install the Front Plate Your Front may look different from that shown On the Pinnacle the front tabs will engage behind the notched cutouts in the base of either side plate Fig 26 When properly installed the bottom of the front plate cannot be pulled away form the sides without lifting it NOTE Be sure that the control door can swing out It should close against the steel tab stop If installing the optional warming shelf you may find it easiest to attach it to the top plate before placing the top in position on the stove Follow the instructions supplied with the kit 20005004 Vermont Castings UVS27 Vent Free Gas Heater i Bottom Tabs engage notch in the base Fig 26 Engage the Hearthmount Front with the notch in the bse of each side plate 3 Tilt the top plate to engage its rear rib in front of the back panel then carefully lower it onto the sides Fig 27 The upper edge of the side plates should seat into the channel in the underside of the top 4 Lay the screen and top grille in place This completes assembly of the Stardance Freestand ing and Pinnacle Hearthmount shells Grille Screen Top Plate Levelling S

11. will not push in or turn by hand do not try to repair it call a qualified service technician Applying force or any attempted repair may result in a fire or explosion Do not use this fireplace if any part has been under water Immediately call a qualified service techni cian to inspect the heater and to replace any part of the control system and any gas control which has been under water Lighting Instructions STOP Read the safety information above Turn off all electrical power to the fireplace For MN MP TN TP appliances ONLY go on to Step 4 For RN RP appliances turn the On Off switch to OFF position or set thermostat to lowest level Open control access panel Push in gas control knob slightly and turn clock wise 4 to OFF Euro SIT SIT NOVA Honeywell Wait five 5 minutes to clear out any gas Then smell for gas including near the floor If you smell gas STOP Follow B in the safety information above If you do not smell gas go to the next step Remove glass door before lighting pilot See Glass Frame Removal section Visibly locate pilot by the main burner Turn knob on gas control counterclockwise sn to PILOT 10 Push the control knob all the way in and hold Immediately light the pilot by repeatedly depress ing the piezo spark ignitor until a flame appears Continue to hold the control knob in for about one 1 minute after the pilot is lit Release knob and it wil

18. astings on a soft cushioned surface until you are ready to assembly Avoid contact between the castings and other hard surfaces or objects Shell Firebox Assembly 1 Attach the Back Panel to the Left Side Plate by aligning the key holes in the Shroud with the bolts in the side Fig 5 Slide the shroud panel downward to engage it behind the washers on the side plate and then tighten the upper and lower wingbolt 2 Attach the Right Side Plate to the Back Panel in a similar manner Tighten the upper and lower wingbolt Fig 6 Move this assembly into the final position and align the two side plates perpendicular to the back panel as in Figure 7 3 The Firebox is completely assembled The Burner and Valve assembly require no adjustment How ever be sure to remove the packaged logs from within the firebox Remove the screen frame by lifting up and away from the firebox Remove the box of logs from inside the unit and set aside for later log placement Wingbolt Fig 5 Secure left side to the back panel Vermont Castings UVS27 Vent Free Gas Heater 5 Lift the firebox assembly as a unit and slide it back to position it within the shell The base of the firebox should rest on the side support shelves as in Figures 7 and 9 The side plates interlock with the firebox by use of a pair of steel tabs that engage with the ribs on the base of the firebox Fig 9 Properly posi tioned the firebox will be level
19. crews Fig 27 Install the Top Plate and Grille 15 Vermont Castings UVS27 Vent Free Gas Heater Operation Your First Fire Turn Read these instructions carefully and familiarize counterclockwise Turn clockwise yourself with the burner controls shown on Page 18 Locate the pilot assembly Figure 28 Follow the lighting instructions on Page 17 exactly to decrease to increase flame height flame height During the first fire it is not unusual to smell some odor HV102 associated with new logs paint and metal being heated Odors should dissipate within the first eight to ten hours however you can open a window to provide SIT 630 fresh air to alleviate the condition Fig 29 Flame adjustment knob for Honeywell Valve i i Turn Pilot and Burner Inspection PETE e Turn eleckauise Each time you light your heater check that the pilot to increase to decrease flame and burner flame patterns are as shown in flame height flame height Figures 31 and 32 If flame patterns are incorrect turn HV117 the heater off Contact your dealer or a qualified gas technician for assistance Do not operate the heater Fig 30 Flame adjustment knob for Eurosit Valve until the pilot flame is correct ST P Flame Characteristics Follow regular maintenance procedures as described on Page 20 It is important to periodically perform a visual check of the pilot and burner flames Compare them to the pictorial illustrated below Fig 31 32
