2. between 4X4 High and 4X4 Low Bring the vehicle to a stop and then depress the brake Place the gearshift in N Neutral or depress the clutch and then turn the control to the oo position Speed Control if equipped To operate the speed control must be ON and the vehicle s speed must be at or above 48 km h 30 mph To set a speed press SET ACC To seta higher speed press SET ACC again To set a lower speed press COAST Pressing RSM will return to 7 a previously set speed To turn the speed control off press the OFF button rn off the vehicle s ignition or depress GJ the brake pedal to disen gage Hood Release Inside the vehicle pull the hood release handle located under the bottom of the instrument panel near the steering column Next release the auxiliary latch located under the front center of the hood Lift the hood and secure it with the prop rod Tilt Steering Wheel Lever if equipped The tilt steering wheel lever is located to the left of the steering column underneath the turn signal Pull the lever toward you to move the steering wheel up or down Hold the control while adjusting the wheel to the desired position then release the control to lock the steering wheel in position Warning Never adjust the steering wheel when the vehicle is moving Turn Signal and i Wiper Washer Control Rotate the windshield wiper control to the desired interval low or high speed posi tion When in
3. of gasoline All Rangers are designed to use Regular unleaded gasoline with pump R M 2 octane rating of 87 for optimum performance Flex fuel 3 0L engines are capable of using up to an 85 ethanol blend in any combination with Regular unleaded gasoline The use of gasoline with lower octane ratings may degrade performance Tire Pressure Your tire pressure is properly set at the dealership according to the recommended specifications found on the Certification Label located on the front door latch pillar on the driver s side Proper tire pressure is very important for a smooth and safe ride Please check your tire pressure during routine maintenance and seasonal changes Fuses If electrical components in the vehicle are not working a fuse may have blown For more information about changing a fuse please consult your Owner s Guide Fuel Pump Shut Off Switch After a collision if the engine cranks but does not start the fuel pump shut off switch may have to be reset The switch is located in the passenger s foot well by the kick panel For complete details on resetting your fuel pump shut off switch please consult your Owner s Guide Changing the Tires If you get a flat tire while driving do not apply the brake heavily Instead gradually decrease your speed Hold the steering wheel firmly and slowly move to a safe place on the side of the road Your vehicle is equipped with a spare tire Some spare tires are for l
4. panel registers The air will not be cooled below the outside temperature because the air conditioning does not operate in this mode Panel and Floor Distributes out side air through the instrument panel registers and the floor ducts Heating and air conditioning capabilities are provided in this mode eo Floor Distributes outside air through the floor ducts The air will not be cooled below the outside temperature because the air conditioning does not operate in this mode Floor and Defrost Distributes out side air through the windshield defroster ducts and the floor ducts Heating and air conditioning capabilities are a provided in this mode Defrost Distributes outside air through the windshield defroster ducts It can be used to clear ice or fog from te the windshield Max A C if equipped Max A C is the best way to cool off fast because it uses recirculated air and less power to quickly cool the vehicle MAX A C is noisier than A C but more economical and efficient This mode can also be used to prevent undesirable odors from entering the vehicle The air conditioning will only function if the outside temperature is about 6 C 43 F or higher Fuel Tank Capacity Regular cab vehicles with a short wheel base have a 16 5 gallon tank while regular cab vehicles with a long wheel base have a 20 gallon tank The fuel tank of SuperCab vehicles can accommodate 19 5 gallons
5. he high beams o Climate Control System Go see reverse side for more details Passenger Air Bag ON OFF Switch To turn the passenger air bag off insert the ignition key turn the switch to the OFF position and hold in the OFF position while removing the key The OFF light will illuminate momentarily to indicate the deactivation of the passenger air bag when the ignition is turned to ON To turn the passenger air bag back on insert the ignition key and turn the switch to the ON position When the ignition is turned to ON the OFF light will briefly illuminate to indicate that the passenger air bag is operational The passenger air bag should always be ON unless the passenger meets the deactivation criteria set forth by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Please consult your Owner s Guide before deactivating the passenger air bag on off switch Electronic Four Wheel Drive 4X4 Ontrol if equipped In 2WD power is supplied to the rear axle only In 4X4 High power is supplied to both the front and rear axles for increased traction 4X4 Low supplies power to both the front and rear axles but at low speeds To shift from 2WD into 4X4 High turn the control to the 4X4 High position as long as the rear wheels are NOT slipping To shift from 4X4 High back into 2WD turn the con trol to the 2WD position at any forward speed To shift from 2WD into 4X4 Low 4X4 Low back into 2WD or to shift
