2. mill without tipping it back do not pull on the frame and do not move the treadmill over an uneven surface Place one foot against a wheel and carefully lower the treadmill HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1 See drawing 2 Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand Pull the latch knob to the left and hold it Next lower the frame until it is past the latch pin Make sure that the pin does not hit against the foot rail Then release the latch knob See drawing 1 at the left Hold the metal frame firmly with both hands and lower it to the floor CAUTION Do not hold the frame by the plastic foot rails and do not drop the frame Bend your legs and keep your back straight TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by follow ing the simple steps below Find the symptom that applies and follow the steps listed If further assis tance is needed see the front cover of this manual SYMPTOM The power does not turn on a Make sure that the power cord is plugged into a surge suppressor and that the surge suppressor is plugged into a properly grounded outlet see page 16 Use only a surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 16 IMPORTANT The treadmill is not compatible with GFCl equipped outlets and may not be compatible with AFCl equipped outlets After the power cord has been plugged in make sure that the key is inserted into the console Check the p

HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL To avoid damaging the treadmill adjust the incline to zero before you fold the treadmill Then remove the key and unplug the power cord CAUTION You must be able to safely lift 45 Ibs 20 kg to raise lower or move the treadmill 1 Holdthe metal frame firmly in the location shown by the arrow below CAUTION Do not hold the frame by the plastic foot rails Bend your legs and keep your back straight as you raise the frame about halfway to the vertical position 2 Holdthe frame firmly with your right hand Pull the latch knob to the left and hold it Raise the frame until the latch plate is aligned with the latch pin Then slowly release the latch knob make sure that the latch pin is resting on the latch plate mie To protect the floor or carpet place a mat under the treadmill Keep the treadmill out of direct sunlight Do not leave the treadmill in the storage position in tem peratures above 85 F 30 C 22 Before moving the treadmill fold it as described at the left CAUTION Make sure that the latch knob is locked in the storage position Moving the treadmill may require two people 1 Hold the frame and one of the handrails and place one foot against a wheel Handrail Pull back on the handrail until the treadmill will roll on the wheels and carefully move it to the desired location CAUTION Do not move the tread

5. the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch Make sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed Switch is about 1 8 in 3 mm If necessary loosen the 8 x 3 4 Truss Head Screw 14 move the Reed Switch slightly and then retighten the Screw Reattach the Motor Hood not shown and run the treadmill for a few minutes to check for a correct speed reading SYMPTOM The incline of the treadmill does not d change correctly If the walking belt still slows when walked on see the front cover of this manual a Hold down the Stop button and the Speed increase SYMPTOM The walking belt is off center or slips button insert the key into the console and then release the Stop button and the Speed increase button Press the Stop button and then press the Incline increase or decrease button The treadmill will automatically rise to the maximum incline level and then return to the minimum level This will reca librate the incline system If the incline system does not begin calibrating press the Stop button again and then press the Incline increase or decrease button again When the incline system is calibrated remove the key from the console SYMPTOM The walking belt slows when walked on a Use only a surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 16 If the walking belt is overtightened treadmill per formance may decrease and the walking belt

21. ile will show your progress The flashing segment of the profile represents the cur rent segment of the workout The height of the flashing segment indicates the speed setting for the current segment At the end of each segment a series of tones will sound and the next segment of the profile will begin to flash If a new speed and or incline setting is programmed for the next segment the new speed Current Segment yr E 20 and or incline setting will appear in the displays for a few seconds and the treadmill will automatically adjust to the new speed and or incline setting The workout will continue in this way until the last segment of the profile flashes in the display and the last segment ends The walking belt will then slow to a stop Note The calorie goal is an estimate of the number of calories that you will burn during the workout The actual number of calories that you burn will depend on various factors such as your weight In addition if you manu ally change the speed or incline of the treadmill during the workout the number of calories you burn will be affected If the speed or incline setting is too high or too low at any time during the workout you can manu ally override the setting by pressing the Speed or Incline buttons however when the next segment of the workout begins the treadmill will auto matically adjust to the speed and incline set tings for the next segment To stop the workou

23. lower right display To reset the displays press the Stop button re move the key and then reinsert the key 19 HOW TO USE AN ONBOARD WORKOUT 1 Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 18 Select an onboard workout To select an onboard workout press the Calorie button the Intensity button the Speed button or the Incline button repeatedly until the desired work out appears in the display When you select an onboard workout the displays will show the maximum incline the duration the maximum speed and the name of the workout In addition a profile of the speed settings of the work out will appear in the matrix If you select a calorie workout the approximate number of calories you will burn will appear in the name of the workout Start the workout Press the Start button or the Speed increase button to start the workout A moment after you press the button the treadmill will automatically adjust to the first speed and incline settings of the workout Hold the handrails and begin walking Note If you select a speed workout the exercise session will begin with a three minute warm up segment before the speed workout begins Each workout is divided into segments One speed setting and one incline setting are programmed for each segment Note The same speed setting and or incline setting may be programmed for consecu tive segments During the workout the prof

26. ment if desired The console features a display demo mode designed to be used if the treadmill is displayed in a store While the demo mode is turned on the console will function normally when you plug in the power cord press the power switch into the reset position and insert the key into the console However when you remove the key the displays will remain lit although the buttons will not function If the demo mode is turned on a d will appear in the lower right display while the informa tion mode is selected To turn on or turn off the demo mode press the Speed decrease button To exit the information mode remove the key from the console 21 HOW TO USE THE SOUND SYSTEM To play music or audio books through the console sound system while you exercise plug a 3 5 mm male to 3 5 mm male audio cable not included into the jack on the console and into a jack on your MP3 player CD player or other personal audio player make sure that the audio cable is fully plugged in Note To pur chase an audio cable see your local electronics store Next press the play button on your personal audio player Adjust the volume level using the volume increase and decrease buttons on the console or the volume control on your personal audio player If you are using a personal CD player and the CD skips set the CD player on the floor or another flat surface instead of on the console HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL

29. n this page A DANGER Improper connection of the power cord increases the risk of elec tric shock Do not modify the plug if it will not fit an outlet have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician If you are unsure whether the treadmill is properly grounded contact a qualified electrician Plug the power cord into a surge suppressor and plug the surge suppressor into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances The outlet must be on a 16 nominal 120 volt circuit capable of carrying 15 or more amps To avoid overloading the circuit do not plug other electrical devices except for low power devices such as cell phone chargers into the surge suppressor or into an outlet on the same circuit IMPORTANT The treadmill is not compat ible with GFCl equipped outlets and may not be compatible with AFCI equipped outlets Grounded Outlet Grounding Pin A temporary adapter may be used to connect the surge sup pressor to a 2 pole receptacle if a properly grounded outlet is not available The lug or wire extending from the adapter must be connected with a metal screw to a permanent ground such as a properly grounded outlet box cover Some 2 pole receptacle outlet box covers are not grounded Before using an adapter contact a quali fied electrician to determine whether the outlet box cover is grounded The temporary adapter should

31. re may be included Keep the included hex key in a secure place the hex key is used to adjust the walking belt see page 24 15 OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT HOW TO CONNECT THE POWER CORD Use a Surge Suppressor Your treadmill like other electronic equipment can be damaged by sudden voltage changes in your home s power Voltage surges spikes and noise interfer ence can result from weather conditions or from other appliances being turned on or off To decrease the risk of damaging the treadmill always use a surge suppressor with the treadmill To purchase a surge suppressor see precaution 13 on page 3 Use only a surge suppressor that is UL 1449 listed as a transient voltage surge suppressor TVSS The surge suppressor must have a UL suppressed voltage rating of 400 volts or less and a minimum surge dissipation of 450 joules The surge suppressor must also be electri cally rated for 120 volts AC and 15 amps There must be a monitoring light on the surge suppressor to indi cate whether it is functioning properly Failure to use a properly functioning surge suppressor could result in damage to the control system of the treadmill and serious injury to users Plug in the Power Cord The treadmill must be grounded If it should malfunc tion or break down grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of elec tric shock The treadmill power cord has a plug with a grounding pin see drawing 1 o
32. s Then insert the key into the con sole After a moment the displays will light IMPORTANT In an emergency the key can be pulled from the console causing the walking belt to slow to a stop Test the clip by carefully taking a few steps backward if the key is not pulled from 4 the console adjust the position of the clip 18 HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER at the left Select the manual mode When the key is inserted the manual mode will be selected If an onboard workout has been selected remove the key and then reinsert it Start the walking belt To start the walking belt press the Start button the Speed increase button or one of the Quick Speed buttons numbered 1 through 10 If you press the Start button or the Speed increase button the walking belt will begin to move at 1 mph As you exercise change the speed of the walking belt as desired by pressing the Speed increase and decrease buttons Each time you press one of the buttons the speed setting will change by 0 1 mph if you hold down the button the speed setting will change in increments of 0 5 mph Note After you press the button it may take a moment for the walking belt to reach the selected speed setting If you press one of the numbered Quick Speed but tons the walking belt will gradually change speed until it reaches the selected speed setting To stop the walking be
33. t at any time press the Stop button The time will begin to flash in the display To resume the workout press the Start button or the Speed increase button The walking belt will begin to move at 1 mph When the next segment of the workout begins the treadmill will automatically adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment Follow your progress with the displays See step 5 on page 19 The display will show the time remaining instead of the elapsed time Measure your heart rate if desired See step 6 on page 19 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console See step 7 on page 19 THE INFORMATION MODE The console features an information mode that keeps track of treadmill usage information and allows you to select a unit of measurement for the console You can also turn on and turn off the display demo mode To select the information mode insert the key into the console while holding down the Stop button Then release the Stop button When the information mode is selected the following information will be shown The upper display will show the total number of hours that the treadmill has been used The lower left display will show the total number of miles or kilometers that the walking belt has moved An E for English miles or an M for metric kilometers will appear in the lower right display Press the Speed increase button to change the unit of measure
34. tie in the Right Upright 90 securely around the end of the Upright Wire 81 Then insert the Upright Wire into the lower end of the Right Upright as you pull the other end of the wire tie out of the Right Upright 3 Lay the Right Upright 90 near the Base 85 Press the Grommet 77 into the square hole in the Right Upright Make sure not to pinch the ground wire Then attach the ground wire to the Right Upright 90 with a 8 x 1 2 Silver Screw 10 Square Hole 4 Hold the Right Upright 90 against the Base 85 Be careful not to pinch the wires Partially tighten three 3 8 x 4 Screws 7 with three 3 8 Star Washers 13 into the Right Upright and the Base do not fully tighten the Screws yet Attach the Left Upright not shown in the same way Note There are no wires on the left side 5 Identify the Left and Right Base Covers 82 83 Slide the Left and Right Base Covers onto the Left and Right Uprights 89 90 as shown 10 Set a Handrail 84 onto the Right Upright 90 Make sure that the Upright Wire 81 is not pinched Attach the Handrail 84 with two 5 16 x 2 1 4 Screws 28 and two 5 16 Star Washers 11 Start both Screws and then tighten them Attach the other Handrail not shown in the same way Note There is no wire on the left side Remove and discard the two indicated screws A from both Handrails 84 only one side is shown Set the console assembly face dow
