1. 22 Chapter 9 Frequently Asked Questions 23 Gold Line Group Tel 647 438 3800 180 West Beaver Creek Road 1 866 709 4545 Richmond Hill Ontario Fax 905 709 1910 L4B 1B4 Canada 1 877 800 6421 www GLipfone com er prone Chapter 1 Introduction Group of Gold Line is proud to announce its revolutionary new product Gold Line IP Phone GL Phone a state of the art IP based telephony service that is used with your Internet connection GL Phone is a telephone that operates over Internet rather than over telephone lines It is a voice over IP VoIP telephone service that converts voice into IP packets and vice versa Because it is VoIP telephone calls are very cost effective and can be made from wherever an Internet connection is available When you subscribe to GL Phone for the first time you will receive a package containing the following items Phone IP Phone Handset Power Adaptor Input 100 240V 50 60Hz Output 7VDC 800mA Network Cable RJ 45 Telephone Cord RJ 11 Shiny cable Handset Cord Sa PHONE Chapter 2 Keypad LED i F i Message Up Down Menu oK Cancel TXT Transfer Redial i g i OUT VOL IN VOL Memory Keys Phone Book NET Microphone Hold Speaker Figure 3 Image When receiving an incoming call or a voi2. er prone 2 Connection Setup Four Ways of Connection Setup There are 4 different ways to setup and connect the GL Phone depending on your Internet connection type Integrated Router DSL Modem Connection If you have an integrated router DSL modem connect the devices as shown in the diagram below Remember that there is no need to change the configuration of your IP Phone To Integrated Router DSL To Power Adapter Internet To PC or Laptop er prone b DSL Modem Connection If you connect to the Internet through your telephone line DSL modem you should connect your IP phone as shown below One RJ 45 cable connects the DSL modem to the WAN port in your IP phone and another RJ 45 cable connects your PC or Laptop to the internet through the PC port socket of your IP Phone RJ 45 Cable To PC or Laptop RJ 45 Cable Internet Follow the instructions below to configure your IP Phone using a DSL Modem connection II IV GL PHONE Use up and down keys and choose Configure Enter 135 as password and press Menu OK Choose Network by pressing Menu OK again Scroll down the menu using up down keys and select PPPoE Change PPPoE option to Yes PPPoE using Menu OK When you change the option to Yes you will see 2 additional options You can access them by pressing up down keys Select PPPoE username Enter your username and press Menu OK Use

Choose Network by pressing Menu OK again Change NO ModemOn to Yes ModemOn by pressing Menu OK again Use up down key and select Dial Number in the menu by pressing Menu OK Enter the telephone number given by your Internet provider Enter the user name given by your Internet provider Enter the password given by Internet provider Dial DiscTime Number of idle minutes after which the modem will disconnect the connection If set as 0 modem will not disconnect the connection at all In some cases in order to receive dial tone users need to enter Dot For example if you enter 0 xxxxxxxx in this case O is the number to dial out and is for receiving dial tone After pressing Re Dial key to go online the built in modem will automatically attempt to dial 3 times If you try to make an outgoing call while not connected to the internet the built in modem will automatically attempt to connect to the Internet 11 E TM CL PFONE O You can disconnect the connection at any time by pressing HOLD key Final Step Within 2 seconds after connecting the cable and configuring the IP Phone the LCD display will show Starting and then Registering 222 Starting Registering The following message will be shown when registration of GL Phone service is successfully completed SIP your GL ID number Date amp Time sje 6 CL PFONE Chapter 4 1

From the menu choose PhoneBook by pressing Menu OK From the new menu select List Use Up Down for choosing and Menu OK for selecting An alphabetically sorted list will appear and you can select an entry by using Up Down and then Menu OK Press PhoneBook key In the menu choose Speed Dial by pressing Menu OK 14 GL PHONE In the new menu use the UP Down key and select the preferred memory by pressing Menu OK 15 Sa prone Chapter 5 911 Registration GL Phone service does not support traditional 911 or E911 access to emergency services We offer a feature known as 911 Dialing which is a limited emergency calling service that differs from traditional 911 or E911 emergency services calling You should familiarize yourself with the contents of this page and follow all necessary requirements and directions Failure to do so could result in unavailability of 911 services Our 911 Dialing feature is not automatic In order to activate the 911 Dialing feature you must take affirmative steps to register the address where you will be using your GL Phone You must do this for each GL Phone number that you obtain When you move your GL Phone to another location you must register the new location through our web page If you do not register your new location any calls you make using the 911 dialing feature may be sent to an emergency centre near your old address When tra
