USER S MANUAL cSs 901L0 93912l0Cc Read this guide thoroughly and follow the installation and operation procedures carefully to prevent any damage to the unit and or any devices that connect to it This package contains 1 Master View CS 912 KVM Switch 2 KVM Custom Cable Sets 912C 1 User Manual Copyright 1999 ATEN International Co Ltd Manual Part NO PAPE 1164 100 Printed in Taiwan 10 1999 All brand names and trademarks are the registered property of their respective owners Hardware Requirements Console e One VGA SVGA or Multisync monitor capable of the highest resolution that you will be using on any PC in the installation e One PS 2 Mouse e One PS 2 Style Keyboard PC The following equipment must be installed on each PC that is to be connected to the system e A VGA SVGA or Multisynce card e A 6 pin mini DIN PS 2 style mouse port Either a 6 pin mini DIN PS 2 Style keyboard port with 5V DC on pin 4 and Ground on pin 3 or a 5 pin DIN AT Style keyboard port with 5V DC on pin 5 and ground on pin 4 See the note under Cables in the next section Cables Although it is possible to use standard extender cables to connect the PCs to the Master View CS 912 for optimum signal integrity and to simplify the layout we strongly recommend that you use the high quality KVM Custom Cables that are provided as part of the package of CS 912C Note The keyboard and mouse cables have2. 0 x 1440 Resolution Saves Time Space Power and Equipment Costs Non powered Supports DDC DDC2 DDC2B a Installation Before you begin make sure that power to all the devices you will be connecting up have been turned off 1 Plug the monitor keyboard and mouse into the Console port connectors of the Master View CS 912 unit 2 Use the extender cables as described in the Hardware Requirements section to connect the monitor keyboard and mouse ports of the PCs to the Master View CS 912 CPU Ports as shown in the diagram below Note If your PCs use AT style connectors for the keyboard refer back to the note in the Cables Section on p 4 3 Turn on the power to the connected PCs Note The CS 912 s Power On default is to link to the first computer you turn on Symptom Cause Action Keyboard Not Keyboard needs to be Unplug the keyboard from the Console Responding reset Keyboard Port then plug it back in Master View needs to Turn off the PCs Wait five seconds be reset then turn the PCs on Master View is in Auto Press the Spacebar to exit Auto Scan Scan Mode Mode Mouse Not Mouse needs to be Unplug the mouse from the Console Responding reset Keyboard Port then plug it back in Master View needs to Turn off the PCs Wait five seconds be reset then turn the PCs on Mouse in unsupported Some mice can be set for PS 2 or serial mode mode The Master View CS 912 doe

PS 2 style connectors at each end e If your PC uses a standard AT style keyboard socket you will need to use a PS 2 to AT keyboard adapter Part No 2A 106 or any standard keyboard adapter in order to plug the cable into the PC s keyboard port e The CS 912 only supports PS 2 style mice it does not support serial mice Ms Operation Controlling both PCs in your Master View CS 912 installation from a single console could not be easier Two port selection methods that provide instant access to either PC are available e Manual Port Selection e Hot Key Port Selection Manual Port Selection With Manual Port Selection you simply press the Port Selection button on the Master View s side panel to switch back and forth between computers The Selected LED on the top panel lights to indicate which port is active Hot Key Port Selection Hot Key navigation allows you to select the active PC directly from the keyboard instead of having to manually select it by pressing the Port Selection button The Master View CS 912 provides two Hot Key navigation features e Selecting the Active Port e Auto Scan Mode Selecting the Active Port You can toggle between the two PCs by pressing and releasing the left or right Ctrl key twice Ctrl Ctrl Note The combination must be on the same side Left Ctrl Ctrl or Right Ctrl Ctrl a O The Master View CS 912 is designed to work with AT and PS 2 keyboards Older XT 8

7. ouse Switch is a control unit that allows access to two computers from a single console keyboard mouse and monitor Before the development of the Master View the only way to control multiple computer configurations from a single console was through a complex and costly network system Now with the Master View CS 912 you can easily access two computers in a cost effective manner Setup is fast and easy plugging cables into their appropriate ports is all that is entailed There is no software to configure so there is no need to get involved in complex installation routines or be concerned with incompatibility problems Since the Master View CS 912 intercepts keyboard input directly it works on any hardware platform and with all operating systems The Master View CS 912 provides two convenient methods to access the computers connected to the system using the push button Selection switch located on the unit s side panel and entering Hot Key combinations from the keyboard There is no better way to save time and money than with a Master View CS 912 installation By allowing a single console to manage both of the attached PCs the Master View CS 912 eliminates the expense of purchasing a separate keyboard monitor and mouse for each PC Additionally it saves the extra space they would take up and eliminates the inconvenience and wasted effort involved in constantly having to move from one PC to the other i 3 CPU Port B Con
