USER S MANUAL cSs 901L0 93912l0Cc Read this guide thoroughly and follow the installation and operation procedures carefully to prevent any damage to the unit and or any devices that connect to it This package contains 1 Master View CS 912 KVM Switch 2 KVM Custom Cable Sets 912C 1 User Manual Copyright 1999 ATEN International Co Ltd Manual Part NO PAPE 1164 100 Printed in Taiwan 10 1999 All brand names and trademarks are the registered property of their respective owners Hardware Requirements Console e One VGA SVGA or Multisync monitor capable of the highest resolution that you will be using on any PC in the installation e One PS 2 Mouse e One PS 2 Style Keyboard PC The following equipment must be installed on each PC that is to be connected to the system e A VGA SVGA or Multisynce card e A 6 pin mini DIN PS 2 style mouse port Either a 6 pin mini DIN PS 2 Style keyboard port with 5V DC on pin 4 and Ground on pin 3 or a 5 pin DIN AT Style keyboard port with 5V DC on pin 5 and ground on pin 4 See the note under Cables in the next section Cables Although it is possible to use standard extender cables to connect the PCs to the Master View CS 912 for optimum signal integrity and to simplify the layout we strongly recommend that you use the high quality KVM Custom Cables that are provided as part of the package of CS 912C Note The keyboard and mouse cables have

PS 2 style connectors at each end e If your PC uses a standard AT style keyboard socket you will need to use a PS 2 to AT keyboard adapter Part No 2A 106 or any standard keyboard adapter in order to plug the cable into the PC s keyboard port e The CS 912 only supports PS 2 style mice it does not support serial mice Ms Operation Controlling both PCs in your Master View CS 912 installation from a single console could not be easier Two port selection methods that provide instant access to either PC are available e Manual Port Selection e Hot Key Port Selection Manual Port Selection With Manual Port Selection you simply press the Port Selection button on the Master View s side panel to switch back and forth between computers The Selected LED on the top panel lights to indicate which port is active Hot Key Port Selection Hot Key navigation allows you to select the active PC directly from the keyboard instead of having to manually select it by pressing the Port Selection button The Master View CS 912 provides two Hot Key navigation features e Selecting the Active Port e Auto Scan Mode Selecting the Active Port You can toggle between the two PCs by pressing and releasing the left or right Ctrl key twice Ctrl Ctrl Note The combination must be on the same side Left Ctrl Ctrl or Right Ctrl Ctrl a O The Master View CS 912 is designed to work with AT and PS 2 keyboards Older XT 8
