6. e his light monitors the Anti Lock Brake System ABS e fthe light is not on during starting stays on or turns on while driving we recommend you drive to the nearest service center and have the vehicle serviced immediately Electronic Throttle Control ETC Indicator Light e his light informs you of a problem with the Electronic Throttle Control ETC system e f a problem is detected the light will come on while the engine is running Cycle the ignition when the vehicle has completely stopped and the shift lever is placed in the NEUTRAL position the light should turn off 70 e light remains lit with the engine running your vehicle will usually be drivable however see an authorized service center immediately If the light is flashing when the engine is running immediate service is required and you may experience reduced performance an elevated rough idle or engine stall and your vehicle may require towing Af Air Bag Warning Light e fthe light is not on during starting stays on or turns on while driving have the vehicle serviced by an authorized service center immediately IF YOUR ENGINE OVERHEATS e nanyofthe following situations you can reduce the potential for overheating by taking the appropriate action e On the highways slow down e n city traffic while stopped place the transmission in NEUTRAL but do not increase engine idle speed NOTE There are steps that you can
7. 77 JUMP STARTING e f your vehicle has a discharged battery it can be jump started using a set of jumper cables and a battery in another vehicle or by using a portable battery booster pack e Jump starting can be dangerous if done improperly so please follow the proce dures in this section carefully NOTE When using a portable battery booster pack follow the manufacturer s operating instruc tions and precautions j ELS ff i a m r E l n 1 Preparations Jump Start e The battery is stored under an access cover in the trunk Remote battery posts are located on the left side of the engine compartment for jump starting NOTE The remote battery posts are viewed by standing on the left side of the vehicle looking over the fender e Set the parking brake shift the transmission into gear and turn the ignition to OFF e Turn off the heater radio and all unnecessary electrical accessories e f using another vehicle to jump start the battery park the vehicle within the jumper cables reach set the parking brake and make sure the ignition is OFF Jump Starting Procedure e Connect the positive end of the jumper cable to the remote positive post of the discharged vehicle e Connect the opposite end of the positive jumper cable to the positive post of the booster battery e Connect the negative end of the jumper cable to the nega

When the system detects a malfunction the telltale will flash for approximately one minute and then remain continuously illuminated This sequence will continue each time the vehicle is restarted as long as the malfunction exists e When the malfunction indicator is illuminated the system may not be able to detect or signal low tire pressure as intended TPMS malfunctions may occur for a variety of reasons including the installation of replacement or alternate tires or wheels on the vehicle that prevent the TPMS from functioning properly Always check the TPMS 68 malfunction telltale after replacing one more tires or wheels on your vehicle to ensure that the replacement or alternate tires and wheels allow the TPMS to continue to function properly NOTE Tire pressures change by approximately 1 psi 7 kPa per 12 F 7 C of air temperature change Keep this in mind when checking tire pressure Inside a garage especially in the Winter Example If garage temperature is 68 F 20 C and the outside temperature 15 32 F 090 then the cold tire inflation pressure should be increased by psi 21 kPa which equals 1 psi 7 kPa for every 12 F 7 C for this outside temperature condition CAUTION The TPMS has been optimized for the original equipment tires and wheels TPMS pressures and warning have been established for the tire size equipped on your vehicle Undesirable system operation or sensor damage may result when usin
