T TSO HEADSET Use REQUIREMENTS This supplement only applies to pilots flying commercial operations and only under the specific circumstances outlined in the following paragraph FAA Airworthiness standards specified in 14 CFR part 25 do not mandate that transport category aircraft be specifically equipped with headsets for their flightcrew or that flightcrews use only TSO d headsets unless TSO d headset s are installed equipment required to meet 14 CFR 25 1307 d requirements two systems for two way radio communications with controls for each accessible from each pilot station TSO d headsets are only FAA required if replacing these installed TSO d headset s but not if supplementing that installed equipment Note Some Transport Category carriers require pilots to use TSO certified headsets as a company policy2. TSO HEADSET LIMITATIONS CONFIGURATION REPAIR REBUILD Must be maintained without alteration amp repaired rebuilt by an FAA authorized facility to comply with CFR Part 21 Subpart O CONDITION INSPECTION Must be inspected for proper configuration prior to use in aircraft type certified with TSO d headsets An aircraft type certified with TSO certified headsets is unairworthy if operated with a headset s in an unapproved configuration or unknown condition INSTALLATION REMOVAL TSO Conditions amp tests of this article are minimum performance standards Those installing this article on or in a specific type or class of aircraft must determine that the aircraft installation conditions are within the TSO standards The article may be installed only following 14 CFR part 43 or the applicable airworthiness requirements CAUTION Some aircraft require specific impedance e g 600 ohms Damage to the aircraft and or headset may occur if specific impedance requirements are not met Use in extremely close proximity to magnetically sensitive aircraft systems may adversely effect systems performance TSO LIABILITIES Compliance with FAA CFR requirements stated in this guide are the responsibility of Part 121 and Part 135 carriers Enforcement of these requirements and restrictions are the responsibility of air carriers and the FAA The manufacturer guarantees that this product has met TSO standards and manufacturing requirements but is
