Itis not necessary to install Apteryx Imaging from the target computer or network As long as the installer has full read write permissions it can be installed on the server from any client workstation 1 3 2 Installing to a Directory other than the Default Directory gt Create the destination folder first before running the installation 1 3 3 Installing on a Network gt Due to Apteryx s unique Single Installation Multiple Use SIMU technology the software can be installed in one location on a network for client workstations to access To install the software on a server network create the destination folder on the server and share the folder with full read write permissions for Everyone before running the installation program 1 3 4 Windows Vista Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 Installs gt To avoid issues with the Vista Win7 Server 2008 User Access Control UAC feature Apteryx recommends running the installer programs as an Administrator by right clicking the installer s exe file and selecting Run as Administrator Additionally Apteryx recommends users avoid installing the application in the default orogram files x86 directory to prevent possible issues with the Windows VirtualStore feature Apteryx Inc Page 5 of 29 APTERYX October 11 2011 WI Apteryx Imaging Installation Guide THE APTERYX IMAG 2 1 Installing XrayVision and or XVLite 2 1 1 If installing from a CD insert the installa

Scanned X ray Captures a x ray from a scanner or other TWAIN capturing device G Twain Driver Grayscale 150 DPI Acquire without device s interface 5 3 3 6 Depending on the media being acquired select the appropriate tab so that the captured image is appropriately categorized for identity For example if scanning from a phosphor plate scanner select the phosphor plate s imaging extension from the Image Source drop down list on the Scanned X ray tab if scanning in a document from a flatbed scanner make the TWAIN selection from the Scanned Document tab 5 3 3 7 Click OK and follow any additional prompts to capture an image When complete the image will be acquired and displayed on the application desktop Apteryx Inc Page 24 of 29 APTERYX October 11 2011 WI Apteryx Imaging Installation Guide 6 GETTING STARTED XVLITE 6 1 Overview This section provides a brief explanation of how to get started using XVLite More extensive help is available in the help file installed with the software To access the installed help file go to Windows Start gt Programs menu and find Apteryx Imaging menu group For troubleshooting tips and answers to frequently asked questions search the knowledgebase online at http apteryxware com dental knowledgebase If desired training is also available through your Dealer or Apteryx Inc 6 2 Getting Started Adding Patients Patient information can be added manually or

7. 1 WI Apteryx Imaging Installation Guide Select Image Storage Scheme Select the storage format that should be used when storing images captured vom digital sensors The different storage schemes require different amounts of storage space listed from the greatest to the least The smaller the file size the more images that can be stored on a disk drive C Apteryx 16 bit Secure Tag Block The STB16 file format is a secure file format that guarantees image authenticity Not all imaging extensions support 16 bit image capture Other capture depths with be stored in the STB file format Apteryx Secure Tag Block The STB file format is a secure file format that guarantees image authenticity This is the recommended image storage scheme setting C High quality JPEG The high quality JPEG setting stores the image in the JPEG file format using the highest possible quality setting The resulting file size is less than the STB file format Note that JPEG compromises image integrity in order to achieve a higher compression ratio When storing images in the JPEG format you lose the ability to quarantee image authenticity JPEG The JPEG setting stores the image in the JPEG file format using a lower quality setting The lower quality setting results in the smallest image file sizes of all of the available storage schemes Note that JPEG compromises image integrity in order to achieve a higher compression ratio When storing images in th
