1. Make sure that both cushions are set at the same firm ness level The faster you run on the treadmill or the more you weigh the firmer the walking plat form should be Platform Cushion f Cushion Walking Platform 26 HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL To avoid damaging the treadmill adjust the incline to the lowest position before you fold the treadmill Then remove the key and unplug the power cord It may be helpful to adjust the platform cushions to their highest or lowest settings see page 26 to ad just the platform cushions CAUTION You must be able to safely lift 45 Ibs 20 kg to raise lower or move the treadmill 1 Hold the metal frame firmly in the location shown by the arrow below CAUTION Do not hold the frame by the plastic foot rails Bend your legs and keep your back straight 2 Raise the frame until the latch knob locks in the storage position CAUTION Make sure that the latch knob locks To protect the floor or carpet place a mat under the treadmill Keep the treadmill out of direct sunlight Do not leave the treadmill in the storage position in temperatures above 85 F 30 C Before moving the treadmill fold it as described at the left CAUTION Make sure that the latch knob is locked in the storage position Moving the tread mill may require two people 1 Hold the frame and one of the handrails
2. and place one foot against a wheel Pull back on the handrail until the treadmill will roll on the wheels and carefully move it to the desired location CAUTION Do not move the treadmill without tipping it back do not pull on the frame and do not move the treadmill over an uneven surface Place one foot against a wheel and carefully lower the treadmill HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1 27 See drawing 2 Hold the upper end of the treadmill frame with your right hand Then pull the latch knob to the left IMPORTANT Do not turn the latch knob If necessary push the frame forward slightly Pivot the frame downward a few inches and release the latch knob See drawing 1 at the left Hold the metal frame firmly with both hands and lower it to the floor CAUTION Do not hold the frame by the plastic foot rails and do not drop the frame Bend your legs and keep your back straight TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following SYMPTOM The console screen remains lit when the simple steps below Find the symptom that you remove the key from the console applies and follow the steps listed If further assis tance is needed see the front cover of this manual a The console features a display demo mode de signed to be used if the treadmill is displayed in a SYMPTOM The power does not turn on store If the screen remains lit when you remove the key the demo mode is turned on To turn off
3. remove the key from the console See step 7 on page 18 HOW TO USE THE IFIT LIVE MODE The iFit Live mode enables the treadmill to communi cate with your wireless network With the iFit Live mode you can download personalized workouts cre ate your own workouts track your workout results and access many other features See www iFit com for complete information 1 Connect your treadmill to your own wireless network See steps 1 and 2 on pages 23 and 24 To activate and use the iFit Live mode you must have your own wireless network You must have an 802 11b router with SSID broadcast enabled hidden networks are not supported You will also need an iFit com membership 2 Selectthe iFit Live mode To select the iFit Live mode first select the start menu see step 2 on page 16 Next press the Workouts button Then press the Live Workouts button You can also press the Live Workouts but ton on the console To set up an iFit Live account or for more in formation about the iFit Live mode go to www iFit com To switch users press the Switch User button in the lower right corner of the screen Then select the desired user If you have questions after reading this information visit www iFit com support HOW TO USE THE STEREO SOUND SYSTEM To play music or audio books through the console s speakers you must connect your MP3 player CD player or other personal audio player to the console Locate the a
4. the console will not display your heart rate accurately For information about the chest heart rate monitor see page 12 Before using the handgrip heart rate mon itor remove the sheets of plastic from the metal contacts if necessary In addition make sure that your hands are clean To measure your heart rate stand on the walking platform and hold the metal contacts on the handrails for approximately ten seconds avoid moving your hands When your pulse is detected your heart rate will be shown For the most accu rate heart rate reading continue to hold the contacts for about 15 seconds When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console Step onto the foot rails and press the Stop button repeatedly until a workout summary appears on the screen After you view the workout summary press the Done button Then remove the key from the console and put it in a secure place When you are finished using the treadmill press the power switch into the off position and unplug the power cord IMPORTANT If you do not do this the treadmill s electrical components may wear prematurely HOW TO USE A SET A GOAL WORKOUT 1 Insert the key into the console See step 1 on page 16 Select the start menu See step 2 on page 16 Select a set a goal workout To select a set a goal workout press the Workouts button on the screen Then press the Set a Goal button You can also press the Set a Goa
5. monitor is activated when the electrode areas are wetted and the heart rate moni tor is put on the heart rate monitor shuts off when it is removed and the electrode areas are dried If the heart rate monitor is not dried after each use it may remain activated longer than necessary draining the battery prematurely Store the heart rate monitor in a warm dry place Do not store the heart rate monitor in a plastic bag or other container that may trap moisture Do not expose the heart rate monitor to direct sunlight for extended periods of time do not expose it to temperatures above 122 F 50 C or below 14 F 10 Do not excessively bend or stretch the sensor when using or storing the heart rate monitor Clean the sensor using a damp cloth never use al cohol abrasives or chemicals The chest strap may be hand washed and air dried 12 TROUBLESHOOTING The instructions on the following pages explain how the heart rate monitor is used with the con sole If the heart rate monitor does not function properly try the steps below Make sure that you are wearing the heart rate moni tor as described on page 12 Note If the heart rate monitor does not function when positioned as de scribed move it slightly lower or higher on your chest Use saline solution such as saliva or contact lens so lution to wet the two electrode areas on the sensor If heart rate readings do not appear until you begin perspiri

7. your wireless network is encrypted and re quires a password go to step 2b 2a Connect your treadmill to an unencrypted wireless network Select the desired wireless network and press the Connect button When the Disconnect button ap pears your exercise equipment is connected to the wireless network Then press the Done button Go to step 3 23 2b Connect your treadmill to an encrypted wireless network To connect to your encrypted network you will need to know your network SSID network name network encryption type and network password Select the desired wireless network and press the Advanced button If your network is encrypted you must press the Use Encryption button and fill in the entry boxes If desired you may also set a static IP address and or a static domain name server DNS To use encryption press the Use Encryption but ton Select the encryption type and enter the pass word When you are finished press the Submit button To return to the advanced settings screen press the Cancel button To use numbers or other characters on the key board on the screen press the 123 button or the button To return to the letter keyboard press the ABC button To capitalize a character press the button with an upward facing arrow To clear the last character press the button with a back ward facing arrow and an X To use a static IP address press the Use Static IPs button Enter the IP address net

NT If the treadmill has been exposed to cold temperatures allow it to warm to room tem perature before turning on the power If you do not do this you may damage the console displays or other electrical components I Reset 6 IMPORTANT The console features a display demo mode designed to be used if the treadmill is dis played in a store If the demo mode is turned on the displays will light a few seconds after you plug in the power cord and press the power switch into the reset position before you insert the key To turn off the demo mode see step 4 on page 24 Plug in the power cord see page 14 Next locate the power switch on the treadmill frame near the power cord Make sure that the switch is in the reset position Next stand on the foot rails of the treadmill Locate the clip attached to the key and slide the clip securely onto the waistband of your clothes Then insert the key into the con sole After several sec onds the displays will light IMPORTANT In an emergency the key can be pulled from the console causing the walking belt to slow to a stop Test the clip by carefully taking a few steps backward if the key is not pulled from the console adjust the position of the clip Key fl i p Cli Before using the treadmill please check for firmware updates see step 6 on page 26 Note The console may be able to display speed and distance

Roller Adjustment Screws Key Clip A Power Switch Adjustable Platform Cushion ASSEMBLY Assembly requires two persons Set the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packing materials Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed Note The underside of the treadmill walking belt is coated with high performance lubricant During shipping some lubricant may be tra nsferred to the top of the walking belt or the shipping carton This is normal and does not affect performance If there is lubricant on top of the walking belt simply wipe off the lubricant with a soft cloth and a mild non abrasive cleaner Assembly requires the included hex keys land your own Phillips screwdriver 3 wrench afa and adjustable Use the drawings below to identify the assembly hardware The number in parentheses below each drawing is the key number of the part from the PART LIST near the end of this manual The number after the parentheses is the quantity needed for assembly Note Some small parts may have been preassembled To avoid dam aging parts do not use power tools for assembly Extra hardware may be included i 3 8 Star 8 x 3 4 3 8 x 1 1 4 3 8 Jam Nut 7 2 Washer 6 10 Tek Screw 24 4 Screw 2 6 3 8 x 1 3 4 Bolt 3 1 3 8 x 2 Bolt 4 1 3 8 x 3 3 4 Screw 5 4 Make sure that the power cord is unplugged Wi

15. an override the setting by pressing the Speed or Incline but tons however when the next segment begins the treadmill will automatically adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment To stop the workout at any time press the iFit Menu button in the upper right corner of the screen To pause the workout press the Pause button To end the workout and select a new work out press the New Workout button To end the workout press the End Workout button To continue the workout press the Resume button or the Start button The walking belt will begin to move at 2 Km H When the next segment of the workout begins the treadmill will automatically ad just to the speed and incline settings for the next segment 21 Note The calorie goal is an estimate of the number of calories that you will burn during the workout The actual number of calories that you burn will depend on your weight In addi tion if you manually change the speed or in cline of the treadmill during the workout the number of calories you burn will be affected Monitor your progress See step 5 on pages 17 and 18 The screen can also show a profile of the incline settings of the workout When an all terrain trails workout is se lected the screen can show a topographic map of the trail The animated person running on the trail indicates your progress Measure your heart rate if desired See step 6 on page 18 When you are finished exercising
16. and 3 With the help of a second person lower the treadmill off the cardboard stand The stand will be used again in assembly step 10 Identify the Right Upright Sleeve 90 and the Left Upright Sleeve 89 the Upright Sleeves are labeled Right and Left Slide the Right Upright Sleeve onto the Right Upright 92 and slide the Left Upright Sleeve onto the Left Upright 91 Cardboard Stand 4 Have a second person hold the console assem bly near the Uprights 91 92 Connect the Upright Wire 93 to the Console Console Wire 114 See the inset drawing The con nectors should slide together easily and snap into place If they do not turn one con nector and try again IF YOU DO NOT CON NECT THE CONNECTORS PROPERLY THE CONSOLE MAY BECOME DAMAGED WHEN YOU TURN ON THE POWER Remove the wire tie from the Upright Wire Insert the connectors downward into the Right Upright 92 5 Insert the brackets on the Handrail 110 into the Uprights 91 92 Make sure that no wires are pinched Console 6 Partially tighten three 3 8 x 1 1 4 Screws 2 with three 3 8 Star Washers 6 into the Right Upright 92 do not fully tighten the Screws yet Repeat this step with the Left Upright 91 Then firmly tighten all six 3 8 x 1 1 4 Screws 2 7 Slide the Right Upright Sleeve 90 upward against the console assembly Attach the Right Upright Sleeve with two 8 x 3 4 Tek Screws 24 Attach
17. ate Speed button may not be en abled on your treadmill 6 Update the console firmware For the best results regularly check for firmware updates Press the Firmware Update button Press the Begin button to check for updates or the Cancel button to return to the maintenance mode A status bar will appear in the grey box on your screen When the update is complete the words PLEASE CYCLE POWER will appear in the grey box Press the power switch on the treadmill frame into the off position Wait for several seconds and then press the power switch into the reset position It may take a minute for the console to be ready for use 7 View technical information Press the Technical Info button to view the total number of hours that the treadmill has been used and the total number of miles that the walking belt has moved After you view the information press the Finish button 8 Exit the maintenance mode To exit the maintenance mode press the Back but ton repeatedly HOW TO ADJUST THE CUSHIONING SYSTEM Remove the key from the console and unplug the power cord The treadmill features a cushioning sys tem that reduces the impact as you walk or run on the treadmill To increase the firmness of the walking plat form step off the treadmill and slide the platform cush ions toward the front of the treadmill To decrease the firmness step off the treadmill and slide the platform cushions toward the back of the treadmill Note
18. ce the treadmill on any surface that blocks air open ings To protect the floor or carpet from dam age place a mat under the treadmill Do not operate the treadmill where aerosol products are used or where oxygen is being administered Keep children under age 12 and pets away from the treadmill at all times The treadmill should be used only by per sons weighing 350 Ibs 159 kg or less Never allow more than one person on the treadmill at a time Wear appropriate exercise clothes when using the treadmill Do not wear loose clothes that could become caught in the treadmill Athletic support clothes are recom mended for both men and women Always wear athletic shoes Never use the treadmill with bare feet wearing only stockings or in sandals 11 When connecting the power cord see page 14 plug the power cord into an earthed cir cuit No other appliance should be on the same circuit 12 If an extension cord is needed use only a 3 conductor 14 gauge 1 mm cord that is no longer than 5 ft 1 5 m 13 Keep the power cord away from heated sur faces 14 Never move the walking belt while the power is turned off Do not operate the treadmill if the power cord or plug is damaged or if the treadmill is not working properly See TROUBLESHOOTING on page 28 if the tread mill is not working properly 15 Read understand and test the emergency stop procedure before using the treadmill see HOW TO TURN ON TH
19. ch edge of the walking belt 3 to 4 in 8 to 10 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centered Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walk ing belt is properly tightened Idler Roller Screws If the walking belt still slows when walked on see the front cover of this manual SYMPTOM The walking belt is off center or slips when walked on a If the walking belt is off center first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD If the walking belt has shifted to the left use the hex key to turn the left idler roller screw clockwise 1 2 of a turn if the walking belt has shifted to the right turn the left idler roller screw counterclock wise 1 2 of a turn Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is centered 30 If the walking belt slips when walked on first re move the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both idler roller screws clockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is correctly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 3 to 4 in 8 to 10 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walk ing belt centered Then plug in the power cord in sert the key and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is prop
20. current speed setting Your current lap number The time remaining The approximate number of calories burned per hour The number of vertical feet you have climbed Your pace in minutes per mile Your heart rate see step 6 on page 18 The displays at the top of the screen can show two items of information Press each display until the display shows the desired information Note The manual mode does not have a time remaining countdown If desired adjust the volume level by pressing the Vol increase and decrease buttons on the console To reset the console press the iFit Menu button in the upper right corner of the screen To pause the workout press the Pause button To continue the workout press the Resume button or the Start but ton To end the workout and select a new workout press the New Workout button To end the work out press the End Workout button Note The small wire less symbol in the upper right corner of the screen will show your wireless connection sta tus If the symbol is yel low your treadmill is connected to your wireless network If the symbol is green your treadmill is connected to your wire less network and you have logged in to www iFit com If the symbol does not appear your treadmill is not connected to your wireless network T Measure your heart rate if desired Note If you use the handgrip heart rate monitor and the chest heart rate monitor at the same time
21. e maintenance mode Press the Maintenance button in the lower right corner of the screen to enter the maintenance mode fo io Calibrate the incline system of the treadmill Press the Calibrate Incline button Then press the Begin button to calibrate the incline or the Cancel button to return to the maintenance mode If you press the Begin button the treadmill will automati cally rise to the maximum incline level lower to the minimum incline level and then return to the start ing position This will recalibrate the incline system When the incline system is calibrated press the Back button 25 IMPORTANT Keep pets feet and other objects away from the treadmill while the incline is cali brating In an emergency pull the key from the console to stop the incline calibration Calibrate the screen If the screen is not properly calibrated it will be dif ficult to press the buttons on the screen To cali brate the screen press the Calibrate Screen button and then press the Begin button Press the Cancel button to return to the maintenance mode Using a pencil eraser or other small object press the center of the small target on the screen Then press the next two targets After several seconds the console will return to the start menu Calibrate the speed of the treadmill Calibrate the speed of the treadmill only if in structed to do so by an authorized service repre sentative Note The Calibr
22. erly tightened EXERCISE GUIDELINES AWARNING Before beginning any exercise program consult your physician This is especially important for persons over age 35 or persons with pre existing health problems The heart rate monitor is not a medical de vice Various factors may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings The heart rate monitor is intended only as an exercise aid in deter mining heart rate trends in general These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program For detailed exercise information obtain a reputable book or consult your physician Remember proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system exercising at the proper inten sity is the key to achieving results You can use your heart rate as a guide to find the proper intensity level The chart below shows recommended heart rates for fat burning and aerobic exercise 165 155 145 145 138 130 125 120 115 130 125 115 Y 118 110 103 Y 105 95 90 vw 20 30 40 60 70 80 To find the proper intensity level find your age at the bottom of the chart ages are rounded off to the near est ten years The three numbers listed above your age define your training zone The lowest number is the heart rate for fat burning the middle number is the heart rate for maximum fat burning and the highest number is the heart

31. ng rewet the electrode areas 13 As you walk or run on the treadmill position your self near the center of the walking belt For the console to display heart rate readings the user must be within arm s length of the console The heart rate monitor is designed to work with people who have normal heart rhythms Heart rate reading problems may be caused by medical conditions such as premature ventricular contrac tions pvcs tachycardia bursts and arrhythmia The operation of the heart rate monitor can be affected by magnetic interference caused by high power lines or other sources If you suspect that this is a problem try relocating the treadmill OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PRE LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high performance lubricant IMPORTANT Never apply sili cone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform Such substances will dete riorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD This product must be earthed If it should malfunc tion or break down earthing provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of elec tric shock This product s power cord has an equip ment earthing conductor and an earthing plug IMPORTANT If the power cord is damaged it must be replaced with a manufacturer recommended power cord A DANG ER Improper connection of the equipment earthing co
32. nutes of stretch ing Stretching increases the flexibility of your muscles and helps to prevent post exercise problems EXERCISE FREQUENCY To maintain or improve your condition complete three workouts each week with at least one day of rest be tween workouts After a few months of regular exer cise you may complete up to five workouts each week if desired Remember the key to success is to make exercise a regular and enjoyable part of your everyday life SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right Move slowly as you stretch never bounce 1 Toe Touch Siretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible Hold for 15 counts then relax Repeat 3 times Stretches Hamstrings back of knees and back 2 Hamstring Stretch Sit with one leg extended Bring the sole of the opposite foot toward you and rest it against the inner thigh of your extended leg Reach toward your toes as far as possible Hold for 15 counts then relax Repeat 3 times for each leg Stretches Hamstrings lower back and groin 3 Calf Achilles Stretch With one leg in front of the other reach forward and place your hands against a wall Keep your back leg straight and your back foot flat on the floor Bend your front leg lean forward and move your hips toward the wall Hold for 15 counts t
33. od 75 Next locate the Reed Switch 53 and the Magnet 58 on the left side of the Pulley 59 Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch Make sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed Switch is about 1 8 in 3 mm If necessary loosen the indicated 8 x 3 4 Tek Screw 24 move the Reed Switch slightly and then retighten the Tek Screw Then reattach the Motor Hood not shown with the six 8 x 3 4 Screws not shown and run the treadmill for a few minutes to check for a correct speed reading SYMPTOM The incline of the treadmill does not change correctly a Recalibrate the incline system see step 3 on page 25 29 SYMPTOM The iFit Live mode does not function correctly a If the iFit Live mode is not functioning correctly make sure that the treadmill has the most current firmware available see step 7 on page 26 SYMPTOM The walking belt slows when walked on a Cc If an extension cord is needed use only a 3 con ductor 14 gauge 1 mm cord that is no longer than 5 ft 1 5 m If the walking belt is overtightened treadmill perfor mance may decrease and the walking belt may be come damaged Remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both idler roller screws counterclockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is properly tightened you should be able to lift ea

35. rate for aerobic exercise 31 Burning Fat To burn fat effectively you must exer cise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time During the first few minutes of exercise your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy If your goal is to burn fat adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone For maximum fat burning exercise with your heart rate near the middle number in your training zone Aerobic Exercise If your goal is to strengthen your cardiovascular system you must perform aerobic exer cise which is activity that requires large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods of time For aerobic ex ercise adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the highest number in your training zone WORKOUT GUIDELINES Warming Up Start with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching and light exercise A warm up increases your body temperature heart rate and circulation in preparation for exercise Training Zone Exercise Exercise for 20 to 30 min utes with your heart rate in your training zone During the first few weeks of your exercise program do not keep your heart rate in your training zone for longer than 20 minutes Breathe regularly and deeply as you exercise never hold your breath Cooling Down Finish with 5 to 10 mi
36. re you use the treadmill Keep the included hex keys in a secure place one of the hex keys is used to adjust the walking belt see pages 29 and 30 To protect the floor or carpet from damage place a mat under the treadmill Extra hardware may be included 11 HOW TO USE THE CHEST HEART RATE MONITOR HOW TO PUT ON THE HEART RATE MONITOR The chest heart rate monitor consists of two compo nents the chest strap and the sensor Insert the tab on one end of the chest strap into the hole in one end of the sensor as shown in the inset drawing Press the end of the sensor under the buckle on the chest strap The tab should be flush with the front of the sensor Next wrap the heart rate monitor around your chest and attach the other end of the chest strap to the sen sor Adjust the length of the chest strap if necessary The heart rate monitor should be under your clothes tight against your skin and as high under the pectoral muscles or breasts as is comfortable Make sure that the logo on the sensor is facing forward and is right side up Pull the sensor away from your body a few inches and locate the two electrode areas on the inner side the electrode areas are covered by shallow ridges Using saline solution such as saliva or contact lens solution wet both electrode areas Then return the sensor to a position against your chest CARE AND MAINTENANCE Thoroughly dry the heart rate monitor after each use The heart rate
