2. coffee Our view is that personal taste should rule not convention If you like milk in your coffee use warm or hot milk to avoid overcooling the coffee To extract maximum flavour from the coffee it should be cool enough not to scald or burn the mouth but hot enough to let the flavour fill the mouth nose and sinuses not just the taste buds bottled water 7 If you use bottled water check that it doesn t contain flavourings etc and use still water not sparkling The carbon dioxide which gives the sparkle will affect the flavour of your coffee 3 taste 8 Don t be tempted to reheat coffee in the coffee maker You ll damage the coffee maker and the coffee will be undrinkable 9 Clean the filter holder filter and carafe after each use Residue from a previous brew will spoil your coffee preparation 10 Sit the coffee maker on a stable level heat resistant surface 11 Route the cable so it doesn t overhang and can t be tripped over or caught 12 Don t plug it in yet filling 13 Remove the carafe from the hotplate 14 Use the grip to open the lid and expose the reservoir 15 Use the carafe to fill the reservoir to avoid overfilling 16 Press the lever at the rear of the carafe lid above the handle to open the carafe lid 17 Fill with at least 2 cups of water but not above the 10 mark 18 Close the reservoir lid 19 Close the carafe lid 20 Don t replace the carafe yet 21 Press the drawer release button and open

7. flavour It s best to make a fresh pot 4 switching off 43 The coffee maker does not switch itself off you must do this manually 45 The light next to the button will go out 46 Unplug and let the coffee maker and carafe cool down fully before cleaning or for about 10 minutes before refilling caution Don t lift the reservoir lid till the coffee maker has cooled escaping steam may create a scald hazard a quick cup 47 If you want a quick cup of coffee before the brewing cycle has finished 48 You may remove the carafe at any time The non drip valve will prevent coffee dripping on to the hotplate 49 To prevent the filter holder overflowing replace the carafe on the hotplate within about 20 seconds This may not sound much but you ll find it s more than enough time to pour a couple of cups of coffee 50 Replacing the carafe on the hotplate opens the non drip valve to let the coffee flow again brew strength 2 4 51 Use this feature if you re brewing less than 6 cups of coffee It slows the brewing process so your coffee will have the same strength as coffee from a full carafe 52 The brew strength feature will only work if the number of cups is set to 2 or 4 53 Press the 2 4 button to activate the brew strength feature the 2 4 icon will show up on the display coffee later 54 Set the clock to the correct time a Press and release the h button until the correct hour is shown b Press and release the min button until th
