1. FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effec tive and enjoyable When the manual mode of the con sole is selected you can change the speed and incline of the treadmill with the touch of a button As you exer cise the console will display continuous exercise feed back You can even measure your heart rate using the handgrip pulse sensor The console also offers thirty preset workouts twenty calorie burn workouts and ten all terrain trails work outs Each workout automatically controls the speed and incline of the treadmill as it guides you through an effective exercise session In addition you can set a time distance or calorie goal The console also features an iFit Live mode that en ables the treadmill to communicate with your wireless network With the iFit Live mode you can download personalized workouts create your own workouts track your workout results and access many other features See www iFit com for complete information You can also listen to your favorite workout music or audio books with the console s premium stereo sound system while you get in shape To turn on the power see page 13 To use the man ual mode see page 13 To use a set a goal work out see page 16 To use a calorie burn workout or an all terrain trails workout see page 17 To use the iFit Live mode se

Press the Begin button to check for updates or the Cancel button to return to the maintenance mode A status bar will appear in the grey box on your screen When the update is complete the words PLEASE CYCLE POWER will appear in the grey box Press the power switch into the off position Wait for several seconds and then press the power switch into the reset position It may take a minute for the console to be ready for use 8 View technical information Press the Technical Info button to view the total number of hours that the treadmill has been used and the total number of miles that the walking belt has moved After you view the information press the Finish button 9 Exit the mainenance mode To exit the mainenance mode press the Back but ton repeatedly HOW TO ADJUST THE CUSHIONING SYSTEM Remove the key from the console and unplug the power cord The treadmill features a cushioning sys tem that reduces the impact as you walk or run on the treadmill To increase the firmness of the walking plat form step off the treadmill and slide the platform cush ions toward the front of the treadmill To decrease the firmness step off the treadmill and slide the platform cushions toward the back of the treadmill Note Make sure that both cushions are set at the same firm ness level The faster you run on the treadmill or the more you weigh the firmer the walking plat form should be Platform 0 Cushion 7 Increase A

6. button or the Off button Then press the Back button View the unit of measurement Press the US Metric button to view the selected unit of measurement Change the unit of measure ment if desired Then press the Back button Note If you purchased your treadmill in the US the US Metric button may not be enabled Exit the settings mode To exit the settings mode press the Back button HOW TO USE THE MAINTENANCE MODE The console features a maintenance mode that allows you to calibrate the incline and speed of the treadmill restore factory defaults calibrate the screen update the console firmware and view technical information 1 Select the settings mode See step 1 on page 20 Select the mainenance mode Press the Maintenance button in the lower right corner of the screen to enter the maintenance mode io io Calibrate the incline system of the treadmill Press the Calibrate Incline button The treadmill will automatically rise to the maximum incline level lower to the minimum incline level and then return to the starting position This will recalibrate the in 22 cline system Press the Begin button to calibrate the incline or the Cancel button to return to the maintenance mode When the incline system is calibrated press the Back button IMPORTANT Keep pets feet and other objects away from the treadmill while the incline is cali brating In an emergency pull the key from the console to

8. de sired display mode repeatedly press the Display increase or decrease button on the screen As you walk or run on the treadmill the screen can show the following workout information The elapsed time The approximate number of calories you have burned 14 The distance that you have walked or run The incline level of the treadmill The speed of the walking belt A track representing 1 4 mile 400 meters The time to complete one lap at the current speed setting Your current lap number The time remaining The approximate number of calories burned per hour The number of vertical feet you have climbed Your pace in minutes per mile Your heart rate see step 6 on page 15 The displays at the top of the screen can show two pieces of information Press each display until the display shows the desired information Note The manual mode does not have a time remaining countdown If desired adjust the volume level by pressing the Volume increase and decrease buttons on the console To reset the console press the Fit Menu button in the upper right corner of the screen To pause the workout press the Pause button To continue the workout press the Resume button or the Start but ton To end the workout and select a new workout press the New Workout button To end the work out press the End Workout button Note The small wire less symbol in the upper right corner of the screen
9. few min utes Repeat until the walking belt is properly tight Idler Roller Bolts ened c If the walking belt still slows when walked on please see the front cover of this manual 26 PROBLEM The walking belt is off center or slips when walked on SOLUTION a If the walking belt is off center remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD If the walking belt has shifted to the left use the hex key to turn the left idler roller bolt clockwise 1 2 of a turn if the walking belt has shifted to the right turn the left idler roller bolt counterclockwise 1 2 of a turn Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt Plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is cen tered b If the walking belt slips when walked on first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both idler roller bolts clockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is correctly tight ened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 3 to 4 in 8 to 10 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt cen tered Then plug in the power cord insert the key and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened 27 EXERCISE GUIDELINES AWARNING Before beginning any exercise program consult your physician This is especially important for persons over age 35 or persons with pre

11. override the setting by pressing the Speed or Incline but tons however when the next segment begins the treadmill will automatically adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment To stop the workout at any time press the Fit Menu button in the upper right corner of the screen To pause the workout press the Pause button To end the workout and select a new work out press the New Workout button To end the workout press the End Workout button To continue the workout press the Resume button or the Start button The walking belt will begin to move at 1 mph When the next segment of the workout begins the treadmill will automatically ad just to the speed and incline settings for the next segment Note The calorie goal is an estimate of the number of calories that you will burn during the 18 workout The actual number of calories that you burn will depend on your weight In addi tion if you manually change the speed or in cline of the treadmill during the workout the number of calories you burn will be affected Monitor your progress See step 5 on pages 14 and 15 The screen can also show a profile of the incline settings of the workout When an all terrain trails workout is se lected the screen can show a topographic map of the trail The person running on the trail indicates your progress Measure your heart rate if desired See step 6 on page 15 When you are finished exercising remove
12. stop the incline calibration Restore factory defaults If necessary press the Restore Defaults button to reset the firmware to the original factory firmware This will erase all firmware updates that you have downloaded Press the Begin button to restore the default firmware or the Cancel button to return to the maintenance mode When the restoration is complete the words PLEASE CYCLE POWER will appear in the grey box Press the power switch into the off position Wait for several seconds and then press the power switch into the reset position It may take a minute for the console to be ready for use 5 Calibrate the screen If the screen is not properly calibrated it will be dif ficult to press the buttons on the screen To cali brate the screen press the Calibrate Screen button and then press the Begin button Press the Cancel button to return to the maintenance mode Using a pencil eraser or other small object press the center of the small target on the screen Then press the next two targets After several seconds the console will return to the start menu 6 Calibrate the speed of the treadmill Calibrate the speed of the treadmill only if in structed to do so by an authorized service repre sentative Note The Calibrate Speed button may not be en abled on your treadmill 7 Update the console firmware For the best results regularly check for firmware updates Press the Firmware Update button
13. the holes in the latch cap aligned with the holes in the Storage Latch Make sure to keep the latch cap inside the Storage Latch Attach the Storage Latch to the bracket on the Base 103 with a 3 8 x 2 Bolt 4 and a 3 8 Jam Nut 7 Note It may be nec essary to move the Frame 67 back and forth slightly to align the Storage Latch with the bracket Lower the Frame 67 see HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE on page 24 9 With the help of a second person raise the front of the treadmill and insert the crossbar on the Base 103 into the cutout in the cardboard stand as shown Have the second person hold the treadmill to prevent it from moving forward or backward Firmly tighten the four 3 8 x 3 3 4 Patch Bolts 5 With the help of the second person lower the treadmill off the cardboard stand Cardboard Stand 10 Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill Keep the included hex keys in a secure place one of the hex keys is used to adjust the walking belt see pages 26 and 27 To protect the floor or carpet from damage place a mat under the treadmill Extra hardware may be included 10 OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PRE LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high performance lubricant IMPORTANT Never apply sil icone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform Such substances will cause excessive wea
14. will show your wireless connection sta tus If the symbol is yel low your treadmill is connected to your wireless network If the symbol is green your treadmill is connected to your wire less network and you have logged in to www iFit com If the symbol does not appear your treadmill is not connected to your wireless network Measure your heart rate if desired Before using the handgrip pulse sensor remove the sheets of plas tic from the metal con tacts if neces sary In addi tion make sure that your hands are clean 15 To measure your heart rate stand on the walking platform and hold the metal contacts on the handrails for approximately ten seconds avoid moving your hands When your pulse is detected your heart rate will be shown For the most accu rate heart rate reading continue to hold the contacts for about 15 seconds When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console Step onto the foot rails and press the Stop button repeatedly until a workout summary appears on the screen After you view the workout summary press the Done button Then remove the key from the console and put it in a secure place When you are finished using the treadmill press the power switch into the off position and unplug the power cord IMPORTANT If you do not do this the treadmill s electrical components may wear prematurely HOW TO USE A SET A GOAL WORKOUT 1 Insert t

17. admill will run a demo workout 3 Start the walking belt and adjust the speed To start the walking belt press the Start button on the screen or the Start button on the console The walking belt will begin to move at 1 mph As you exercise change the speed of the walking belt as desired by pressing the Speed increase and de crease buttons Each time you press one of the buttons the speed setting will change by 0 1 mph if you hold down the button the speed setting will change in increments of 0 5 mph 13 If you press one of the numbered speed buttons the walking belt will gradually change speed until it reaches the selected speed setting To select a speed setting that includes a decimal such as 3 5 mph press two numbered buttons in succession For example to select a speed setting of 3 5 mph press the 3 button and then immediately press the 5 button To stop the walking belt press the Stop button To restart the walking belt press the Start button Change the incline of the treadmill as desired To change the incline of the treadmill press the Incline increase and decrease buttons or one of the Incline buttons numbered O to 15 Each time you press one of the buttons the incline will grad ually change until it reaches the selected incline setting Monitor your progress The console offers several display modes The dis play mode that you select will determine which workout information is shown To select the
18. ary push the frame forward slightly Pivot the frame downward a few inches and release the latch knob 2 See drawing 1 at the left Hold the metal frame To protect the floor or carpet place a mat under the firmly with both hands and lower it to the floor treadmill Keep the treadmill out of direct sunlight CAUTION Do not hold the frame by the plastic Do not leave the treadmill in the storage position in foot rails and do not drop the frame Make sure temperatures above 85 F 30 C to bend your legs and keep your back straight 24 TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below Find the problem that applies and follow the steps listed If further assistance is needed please see the front cover of this manual PROBLEM The power does not turn on SOLUTION a Make sure that the power cord is plugged into a surge suppressor and that the surge suppressor is plugged into a properly grounded outlet see page 11 Use only a single outlet surge suppres sor that meets all of the specifications described on page 11 IMPORTANT The treadmill is not compatible with GFCl equipped outlets b After the power cord has been plugged in make sure that the key is inserted into the console c Check the power switch located on the treadmill frame near the power cord If the switch protrudes as shown the switch has tripped To reset the switch wait for five minutes and then press the switch back i
19. ay demo mode You may also be able to select the unit of measurement 1 Select the settings mode Insert the key into the console see step 1 on page 13 Next select the start menu see step 2 on page 13 Then press the button in the lower right corner of the screen to select the settings mode 2 Select the wireless network mode Press the Wireless Network button on the screen 20 You must have your own wireless network and an 802 11b router with SSID broadcast enabled hid den networks are not supported If your wireless network is unencrypted and does not require a password go to step 2a If your wireless network is encrypted and re quires a password go to step 2b 2a Connect your treadmill to an unencrypted wireless network Select the desired wireless network and press the Connect button When the Disconnect button ap pears your exercise equipment is connected to the wireless network Then press the Done button Go to step 3 2b Connect your treadmill to an encrypted wireless network To connect to your encrypted network you will need to know your network SSID network name network encryption type and network password Select the desired wireless network and press the Advanced button If your network is encrypted you must press the Use Encryption button and fill in the entry boxes If desired you may also set a static IP address and or a static domain name server DNS

32. ohydrate calories for energy Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy If your goal is to burn fat adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone For maximum fat burning exercise with your heart rate near the middle number in your training zone Aerobic Exercise If your goal is to strengthen your cardiovascular system you must perform aerobic exer cise which is activity that requires large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods of time For aerobic ex ercise adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the highest number in your training zone WORKOUT GUIDELINES Warming Up Start with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching and light exercise A warm up increases your body temperature heart rate and circulation in preparation for exercise Training Zone Exercise Exercise for 20 to 30 min utes with your heart rate in your training zone During the first few weeks of your exercise program do not keep your heart rate in your training zone for longer than 20 minutes Breathe regularly and deeply as you exercise never hold your breath Cooling Down Finish with 5 to 10 minutes of stretch ing Stretching increases the flexibility of your muscles and helps to prevent post exercise problems EXERCISE FREQUENCY To maintain or improve your condition complete three workouts each
