1. fields with the shortcut Ctrl Shift Q This option is useful to add easily the reference of a quote typed in these fields If the bibtex key will be changed the software will update also the possible key containted in these fields A right click of the mouse on the items grid on the compilation area or on the attachment list will show a pop up menu with some menu items commonly used The pop up menu item Open link is enabled only when in the compilation area a field is actually selected and contains an internet address that is it begins with http this menu item allows to open the address in the default browser With the Copyright menu the last one identified by a question mark it is possible to show this user manual in pdf format and the copyright along with the version of the software in use 13 Attachments It is possible to attach many files to a single item dragging them on the form of the software also more files at a time or using the menu item Items Attachments New The attachments are stored in zip format within a directory with the same name and path of the Bibfilex file in use This means that if this file is copied or moved from one location to another it is necessary to copy in the same location also the directory with the same name if it is present namely if there are attachments The attachments directory is completely managed by the software it is created when the first attac

3. 1 Value 2 and Value 3 If two or three conditions are specified they will be linked in AND or in OR condition according to what is specified in the Link box In the values the character cannot be used if the is present and vice versa The wildcard is To search in the Owned field type T as field value to find the checked items and F to find the uncheked ones The filter is case insensitive To search in the attachment field choose AttName as field and remember that the names of the attachments are stored within it as different lines just as they look in the Attachments list Attachments are not stored in the file field according to Biblatex rules because this field should not be compiled properly to make possibile the Bibfilex way of manage more attachments for a single item Anyway in the exported Biblatex files the attachments names are stored in the file field in the JabRef format As long as the conditions are specified the corresponding SQL code will be written in the field at the bottom of the form Changing the value of the box Statement in User defined makes possible to modify directly the SQL statement in the field thus creating more complex queries on more that three fields or making case sensitive filters Selecting Standard in the box Statement restores the original use of SQL field The following buttons are available Apply filter Apply the f

No ibidem or idem just after this command In this option group can be specified the command which begins the area chapter section footnote etc whose first citation will not be replaced by ibidem nor its author will be replaced by idem in any case 4 3 Citations pattern The grid in the Citations pattern tab contains the patterns used by the software to create the citations of the various items Three different kind of citations are available for each Biblatex entry type normal which is the first citation of an item in a LaTex document short which is the citations of an item following the first and biblio which is the citation of the item in the bibliography So it s possible to set different structures of citations according to the position of an item in the Latex document This functionalities is used by the features activated by the menu items Items Copy plain citations Items Copy formatted citations Tools Replace citations and Tools Replace and convert In the first two cases the normal citation will be used Basically a citation is created putting together all the elements contained in the cells of the row corresponding to the type of an item article book etc starting from the left and going rightward If a cell contains the name of one field possibly among other elements commas semicolon LaTex formatting commands etc then all the content o

10. made The format of the Biblatex file is the same of the one produced by the following feature The authors that have no comma inside it because they do not have a name and a family name like institutional authors etc will be exported between two curly brackets If they are more than one each of them will be exported within two curly brakets It s not possibile to mix institutional and personal authors in the same field Export to Biblatex Export the items in a Biblatex file specified by the user If a filter is applied only the filtered data will be exported Possible attachments will be exported within a folder with the same name and location of the Biblatex file and they will be referenced in the file fields These fields will we composed properly to be recognized and opened in JabRef To avoid to create a Biblatex file with an attachment directory that overlaps the one of an existing Bibfilex file it s not possible to give the Biblatex file the name of an existing Bibfilex file The file is imported properly also in Zotero except for the attachments To import the abstracts as Notes activate the option Export abstract as review in the Options of the software Import from Biblatex Import in the file in use a Biblatex file like a database of JabRef or a file exported by Bibfilex More files may be selected and imported at a time just Ctrl click on each one of them In the file to be imported the fie
11. to control it properly and possibly delete it To update the list of double items after deleting one of them just click again on the button Check Replace all BibTex keys Replaces all the BibTex keys in the file in use with news keys defined according to the BibTex key pattern If a filter is active only the filtered items will be modified This procedure is slow because the software must check that each new key is unique within the file in use Replace citations Open a Latex document and replace all its citation commands with the corresponding extended citations and bibliography according to a pattern defined in the Options The resulting modified document will be saved in the same directory of the original one and its name will be the same with the addition of fullcitations at the end of it The commands cite textcite parencite smartcite will be replaced with citations in which the family names of the authors of the bookauthors and of the editors will be printed after their name whereas the printbibliography command will be replaced with a sorted list of citation in which their family names come first The search and replacement of the various bibtex keys is case insensitive The possible prenote and postnote elements each of which must be typed within square brackets just after the command and before the BibTex key will be printed without any modification before and after the citation If within the postno

The keywords list is available in the Keywords list form shown with the menu item Tools Keywords list see below Rename keyword Rename a keyword in all the items of the file in use The user must type the old keyword to be replaced and then the new one if the latter is empty the old password is simply removed from all the items The search for the old password is case insensitive Store keyword Give the user the possibility to type a keyword or more than one separated by a comma and a space and store it in a buffer The keyword could then be inserted in an item with the following functionality When this menu item is activated the possible existing keyword is shown and may be changed or deleted in order to clear the buffer Tha value of the buffer is remembered by the software Add or remove keyword Add to the current item the keyword s saved in the buffer with the previous functionality or removes it if it s already present If there s no keyword in the buffer this functionality does nothing It s useful to add or remove very easily a keyword or more keywords in a single item Filter from Latex file Filter the items whose BibTex key is contained in a Latex file within one of the following commands cite textcite parencite smartcite This functionality is useful to filter the items quoted in a Latex document in order to export them in a Biblatex file to be stored with the document or pasted wi

23. f words that must not be considered in the creation of a BibTex key This functionality will have no effects in the copy of the author and editor fields When the software creates a key if the first word of a field is included in the stop list it s skipped and the next one is included in the key In this way it is possible to ignore articles and other words that may not be significant as a reminder of an item Each word that should be skipped in creating a BibText key must be typed in a new line within the text field of the form With the button Sort it is possible to sort them all Each word in the stop list is supposed to be followed by a space in the fields unless it end with a apostrophe If a wird to be skipped ends with a dot like S as the beginning of S Francis etc type it it the list without the dot 20 Chapter 6 Biblatex basic rules In this part of the manual are reported some basic information to compile the fields of an item according to Biblatex rules They have been taken from Puitirpp LEHMAN The biblatex Package Programmable Bibliographies and Citations Version 2 9a available in http mirrors ctan org macros latex contrib biblatex doc biblatex pdf 6 1 Author and editor The author bookauthor and editors fields must be compiled as Family name Name If they are not physical persons but institutions no comma must be used inside it If the authors and editors are more than one then
24. he current item If the author or the title fields contain a LaTex formatting command like emph they will not be shown in this label In order to avoid unwanted changes of the bibtex keys the Bibtexkey field is read only it cannot be modified directly and has a gray background Its content can be changed only with the menu items Create BibTex key and Modify BibTex key see below for more information The Abstract and Review fields have a slightly bigger font than the other fields to make them readable more easily Furthermore their font size may be increased or decreased with Ctrl plus character and Ctrl less character or with the mouse wheel while holding the Ctrl button The name of their tabs is preceded by a bullet if there is some text within them Furthermore with Ctrl Shift H it s possible to clear the content of both these fields of all the single carriage returns that is of all the line breakings that are not empty lines This is useful when it s pasted within these fields some text from a pdf or other source that turns out to be many single lines ending with a carriage return To have a normally formatted text just add empty lines where the paragraphs should be divided and then use this shortcut to remove the exceeding carriage returns It s possibile to insert the bibtex key of the current item within the cite command in the Abstract and Review
