1. modem asynchronous concentration device PAD STATMUX if required full duplex communication line at a speed of 9600 bps Note A one time installation charge is added if any of the above items are required Additional charges may be applied for the following special assemblies see Section 7 Installation Services building wiring systems special cable or patching systems unique to individual users special communication lines non standard modems uninterruptible power supplies UPS 3 27 BC Power Systems User Manual In a single terminal installation the client is responsible for interfacing their equipment to the modem In multiple terminal installations the client must interface their equipment to either the PAD or STATMUX Caution Client owned equipment connected into DNET components must be compatible with the EIA 232D standard DNET cannot guarantee that those devices failing to meet EIA 232D requirements will operate as expected Device support costs Client requested changes to existing PAD and STATMUX configurations as listed below are subject to one time surcharges asynchronous port speed parity change addition of a network printer port definition adding switched virtual circuits to synchronous X 25 links Networked printers require dedicated Permanent Virtual Circuits PVCs within DNET and are subject to an additional monthl
2. 3 4 DNET Services DNET Services DNET represents a comprehensive service for connecting a single terminal to multiple geographically dispersed hosts on a variety of networks Terminal to host access devices For clients using the standard DNET communication protocols and equipment DNET provides several methods of terminal access For users with multiple terminals requiring host access the following two devices are available 1 X 25 packet assembler disassembler service PAD 2 satellite transmission augmented terminal multiplexor STATMUX PAD service The PAD service works by concentrating multiple inputs into a single high speed line The number of inputs is dependent on the model of the PAD MEMOTEC SP 830 4 inputs SP 8300 16 inputs PAD and STATMUX are communications devices used to concentrate multiple inputs or terminals at a single location into a single high speed communica tions line 3 25 BC Power Systems User Manual Clients receive the following when they lease a PAD connection to DNET full duplex error corrected synchronous communications line and modems running at 9600 bps X 25 PAD on user premise with up to 16 asynchronous connections full DNET connectivity at 9600 bps on all pad channels PAD configuration maintained by DNET maintenance and repairs of leased equipment PADS modems and facilities communications line carried out by
3. BC systems at no additional charge to the client STATMUX service The STATMUX service works by connecting up to 300 terminals to the DNET server infrastructure through dedicated high bandwidth satellite uplink hardware The STATMUX hardware comprises the TR 52 dish system and the TX3 digital amplification and compression module Clients receive the following when they lease a STATMUX connection to DNET full bi directional communication to dnet up to 7 8 gps on all terminals TX3 and TR 52 STATMUX hardware at each client site full DNET connectivity at 7 8gps on all STATMUX frequencies PAD configuration maintained by DNET 3 26 3 4 DNET Services maintenance and repairs of leased equipment TX3 and TR 52 and facilities communications lines carried out by BC systems at no additional charge to the client PAD and STATMUX devices are manufactured in Canada by Memotec Data and remain the property of BC Systems For troubleshooting call BC Systems at 389 3686 Installation costs Network Services can provide installation services for client owned equipment at standard BC System labor rates The cost of connecting a terminal or host ports to either an X 25 PAD or to a STATMUX varies with location and user density The rates for servicing up to 200 unique locations are listed in Appendix 1 under Network Service Rates and assume the following are in place network switch port
4. y surcharge Charges are not applied to local printers i e not networked See Appendix 1 Network Services Rates for further information 3 28
