5. increase the measuring capability of a clamp meter With the use of the Clamp Adapter you can not only extend current range over 3000A but also clamp on a large bus bar or conductor 1 Set the Function Selector switch to the AZ 400A position 2 Select the AC mode with the button 3 As shown in the figure below clamp MODEL CL250 onto the pickup coil of MODEL 99025 4 Clamp MODEL 99025 onto the bus bar or conductor under test 5 Take the reading on MODEL CL250 and multiply it by 10 NOTE For the detailed specification refer to the Clamp Adapter User s Manual IM CL250 11 3 3 OUTPUT Terminal For current measurement only A WARNING e Do not make measurement on a circuit above 750VAC or 1000VDC This may cause electric shock hazard e Never apply voltage to the OUTPUT terminal 1 To obtain output voltage from the OUTPUT terminal connect a suitable cord to the supplied output plug 5 a a OAV SO 2 Slide the terminal cover to the right to enclose the Lo and Hi terminals Insert the output plug into the OUTPUT terminal for connection with a re corder or other recording device 3 Set the Function Selector switch to the AZ 400A or AZ 2000A posi tion The output is available only in the two ranges Proceed to meas urement in the DC or AC mode NOTE e In the DC mode the output voltage from the OUTPUT terminal may not reduce to nil even if the display is zero adjusted with th

8. e turns the instrument to the MAX measurement mode with Z shown on the display Press the button again to exit the MAX mode A press of the button on the resistance range turns the instrument to the continuity check mode with symbol shown on the display In this IM CL250 1 2 Measurement 2 1 Preparation for Measurement A CAUTION e The jaw section is a delicate precision sensor Do not subject the jaw to unreasonably strong shock vibration or force when using it e f dust gets into the tops of the jaws remove it immediately Do not close the jaws when dust is trapped in its joints as the sensor may break e Please check that the range and mode are set to the desired position before measurement 2 2 DC Current Measurement A WARNING e Do not make measurement on a circuit above 1000VDC This may cause shock hazard e Do not make current measurement with the test leads connected to the instrument 1 Set the Function Selector switch to the A gt 400A position and press the button to select the DC mode DC should be shown on the upper left corner of the display 2 With the transformer jaws closed without clamping them onto the con ductor press the button for about one second to zero adjust the display C4 button is enabled only on 400A DC range i should be shown on the display 3 Set the Function Selector switch to the position appropriate for the order of the current under test IM
9. inals 1 Set the Function Selector switch to the AZ 400A or A gt 2000A posi tion and select the AC mode If the instrument is in the DC mode press the button once to select the AC mode The instrument is set to the AC mode when it is powered on AC should be shown on the upper left corner of the display 4 IM CL250 2 Press the open close lever to open the transformer jaws and clamp them onto the conductor under test and take the reading on the display The most accurate reading will be obtained by keeping the conductor at the center of the transformer jaws NOTE e During current measurement keep the transformer jaws fully closed Oth erwise accurate measurement cannot be made The Maximum measur able conductor size is 55mm in diameter e Unlike in DC current measurement zero adjustment is not necessary in AC current measurement There is no polarity in the reading either e The output voltage from the OUTPUT terminal may not reduce to nil even if the display is zero adjusted with the button In this case make zero adjustment on the recorder or other device that the output voltage is connected to 2 4 DC Voltage Measurement A WARNING Do not make measurement on a circuit above 1000VDC This may cause electric shock hazard Red test lead Black test lead 1 Set the Function Selector switch to the A gt 400V or 1000V posi tion If the instrument is in the AC mode press the button once t
10. lack test lead into the Lo terminal 3 Press the button to select the continuity check mode The symbol should be shown on the display 4 Check that the display reads OL Then short together the tip of the test leads and make sure that the display reads 0 and the buzzer beeps IM CL250 T 3 Connect the other end of the tip of the red test lead the positive side of the circuit under test and the tip of the black test lead to the negative side Take the reading on the display If the test lead connection is reversed the sign is shown on the display 2 5 AC Voltage Measurements A WARNING Do not make measurement on a circuit above 750V AC This may cause electric shock hazard Red test lead Black test lead 1 Set the Function Selector switch to the AZ 400V or 750V position If the instrument is in the DC mode press the button once to se lect AC mode The instrument is set to the AC mode when it is powered on The AC should be shown on the upper left corner of the display 2 Slide the terminal cover to the left Plug the red test lead into the Hi ter minal and black test lead into the Lo terminal 3 Connect the tip of the test leads to the circuit under test Take the reading on the display 6 IM CL250 5 Connect the tip of the test leads to the circuit under test The buzzer beeps when the resistance is about 50Q or less NOTE e When the tip of the test leads is shorted toge
