2. onto your desktop take a moment and think about how you trade now or may trade in the future If you have several broker accounts where you trade futures and maybe stocks or ETF s in the IB Universal account you may want to copy My Trade Analyzer onto your desktop and rename it so you can analyze the different instruments you trade most people have different trading styles for trading different instruments Or if you are using a simulated account you may want to set up a copy to track how your simulated trading is doing Creating a copy of your program on your desktop See back of manual for the procedures you can make as many copies of the program as you wish Never rename the saved ORIGINAL SHEETS as these must be Kept as is for My Trade Analyzer to function properly Step 1 Setup your Template with User Definitions The Templates are designed to allow you to modify or change most of the coding to fit your style of trading For example in your style of trading let s say you do not take Break out or break down plays but you do take 123 Continuation plays or Gap plays You can go to the descriptions white cells of the Setup type timeframe source and time of day section and modify to suit your needs and even change the code You can also change the description of errors on all but error codes 1 2 and 7 those have linked formulas to them All other error codes in the Demon section can be changed t

Aw Interactive Brokers User Manual MyTradeAnalyzer Introduction My Trade Analyzer was primarily designed to monitor and analyze your actual trades executed each day You can copy your actual trades taken daily from your IB Trader Platform on the IB website export to an Excel worksheet and paste directly into this program thus saving time and minimizing input errors This program does not need to distinguish between trades of different instruments it can calculate for Stocks ETF s Futures and Emini s This analyzer was designed using Microsoft s 2007 Excel Edition with file format xlsm If you have the previous Excel 2003 version My Trade Analyzer is available in xls format Please make sure you select the proper format when you download the analyzer Do not try to convert from 2003 to 2007 or vice versa Microsoft Excel has some inherent compatibility issues that could make the program function improperly Remember This is a macro enabled file If you are using Excel 2007 you must save it as a Macro Enabled Workbook If you are using Excel 2003 save it as an Excel 97 2003 Workbook Due to the vast amount of information My Trade Analyzer creates for you the ideal set up would be a four monitor system stacked which would allow full view access to your worksheet If you are using a one monitor or two monitor system side by side scrolling will be required however we have created a Toggle View

9. imited and then semicolon as the delimiter Once you have finished with this conversion dialog your trade information will be in Excel format Report from Trader Workstation Although you can go back seven days in this screen you cannot get the columns that the Trade Analyzer needs for days other than current day To get the appropriate columns for previous days you just have to approach it a different way So IT IS IMPORTANT IF YOU WISH TO USE THIS METHOD TO EXPORT YOUR CURRENT DAY S TRADES TO A TXT FILE BEFORE YOU CLOSE DOWN FOR THE DAY The information will then just sit out there waiting for you to post into My Trade Analyzer If you forget to do this then from the Trader Workstation choose View Statements from the menu This will connect you to the website choose Daily Activity and Summary Double click on the Trades section of this report to open up your trades for the particular date specified This will provide a report that you can copy and paste in pieces into an Excel worksheet In addition you will have to manually type in BOT and SLD in the appropriate spots as this field is not provided by reports generated in this manner This method takes much longer and is subject to more user errors So you are strongly encouraged to export the Day s Trades under the method suggested above from the Trades screen of your IB Workstation before the End of the Day Setting up your Program Once you have downloaded your program

12. ous columns that you can have in the report Use the Select and Move Up and Move Down buttons on the right to make sure you have the following columns checked only these columns and they must be in this order Underlying Action Quantity Price Time Commission and Realized P amp L Then check OK If the Trades window does not update immediately with any changes you made you may have to close the Trades window x out in upper right corner and reopen with the Trades button on the 2 main Trader Workstation screen If the Realized P amp L column is not available as one of your choices from the main Trader Workstation screen choose Configure Feature Selector Real Time Activity Monitoring P amp L Columns to enable this feature Once your Trades window shows the day s trades with the columns above go to File Export Today s Reports Select Custom Columns and make sure the same columns as above are selected and in the same order usually allow the filename and path to stay the same as the default Click Ok and a message will pop up telling you the file has been exported In Excel to open the file choose all files in the type and in your IBJTS folder you should find the day s trades If you have allowed the default name to remain in the previous step the file will be named trades 20090601 txt if the date of the trades was June 1 2009 When the text import wizard pops up choose del
13. ports your trades in GMT there is a GMT Converter Time Zone built into the analyzer to allow you to set up the analyzer for your time zone This will allow the time of your trades to be posted in your local time Step 4 Consolidate and Post Now click on the Consolidate and Post Hot button It will ask you which sheet you want to post to Select your monthly sheet you are working on and click OK You will now see your trades on the monthly sheet You will also notice the trades have filtered out your partial fills at the same trade price Note If you get behind and decide to generate a report for multiple days make sure at this point you manually go in and insert a blank row between each of the trade dates Otherwise the program will consider all the days of trading as one day Step 5 Process Day s Trade Click on any cell within your days trade range to tell the analyzer which trades you want to analyze Click on the Hot Button Process Day s Trade If you get a default This date is not in the date range Click OK It is looking to see that you have not duplicated same trade dates My Trade Analyzer will determine whether it is a Long or a Short trade and insert the yellow coding cells for you Tip When coding the Yellow cells you must put your coding on the same row as your P amp L which is the same row as your Long or Short You will notice a warning message pop up reminding you to fill in
14. r trading Here is where the chart analysis really tells you important information and summarizes which are your most crucial demons and to what degree they are affecting your trading In the first row Row Y it is of the greatest importance to place the appropriate code that caused the major error in the trade to ultimately fail The other three rows of errors can be changed as you see fit The reason for this is the SDollar total and average loss on these trade errors is determined from this Row Y error code Although you may have also made other errors in this trade it does total the number of errors you are making and calculates the percentage of the errors made Your greatest percentage in the Demon column is the biggest demon You need to get under control Interpreting Your Cumulative Trading Worksheet Now let s evaluate your trades and see what it tells you Tip As you accumulate more trades for the month valuable information starts to pop out at you The upper section for your total Wins vs Losses calculates your Batting Average and Sharpe ratio for each type of trade Obviously you want to keep the highest Batting Average on your wins and the Lowest Batting Averages as possible on your Losses Scratches and Stop Outs Your objective is to keep less than 10 on each of your losses which affords you no more than 30 Batting Average on your losses Again most traders strive to keep their win Batting Average above 70 and t
