18. d Systems and the software designed to process the information The PCR seeks to gather the data about the pregnant woman and the newborn for which there is universal consensus developing a sort of road map in one single sheet containing the minimum indispensable data for an adequate care The final result is straightforward and inexpensive tool The sheet displays several sections containing the documentation about the obstetric events and those related with the newborn in the early neonatal period Based on a list of closed questions the PCR s design facilitates the systematic and timely collection of data In all cases the tutorial handbook Publication CLAP SMR N _563 contributes to the record s consistency The PCR has the data essential for the management of most low risk cases The annual statistics produced with the mechanisms traditionally used to process data tend not to be easily available to the health staff and when they are they fail to meet their needs because of their untimeliness Feedback is a key element in the evaluation and improvement of health related actions when it is not available the providers do not benefit of the lessons they could learn To address those issues the Perinatal Computing System includes the software required to process the data empowering the institution s staff to use the information they generated themselves The operator may enter the data from the PCR filling the facsimile sheet La
