7. refer to Time Keeping section Additional Programming All other programming has been set at the factory You may wish to reprogram some of the settings now or to wait and do this at some point in the future 1 14 Initial Set Up Version 2 0 Addressing Assigning an Address to a Unit For proper operation each unit must be assigned an address The address identifies an Amtel unit Like an extension number on the phone Each Amtel unit must be assigned a unique 2 character address a combination of letters A through Z and or numerals through 9 pp 3 Ki 9 i 9 v lt Addresses are usually assigned and maintained by the System Administrator Addresses can be protected from change by entering a setup password Note The unit address can be the user 5 initials or the location of the unit Note If there is more than one unit with the same address communication delivery can be unreliable Figure 2 1 This diagram displays in a series of steps how to customize the addresses on an Amtel Unit Keyboard Assign a unique address for the unit Y Assign the initial address for all keys N Remotely for other units y Assign the initial address for individual keys Locally at the unit Remotely Locally at the unit for other units Panel and Wallmount Assign a unique address for the unit Enter a user directory Locally at the unit Remotely from a key

Press SEND SEND AS ALERT The screen displays SET LIST ENTRY 1 AA AA is the first address in our example list 4 Press CHOICE 2 v repeatedly until the screen displays the desired entry Press CLEAR to exit without making changes OR CA 6 Press CHOICE 1 or v to assign the 1 character CHOICE 2 v to move to the next space CHOICE 1 or v to assign the 2 1 character 7 Press CHOICE 2 v to enter any additional addresses 8 When all entries have been entered press SEND SEND AS ALERT The unit saves the changes made to the distribution list The screen displays SET DISTRIBUTION LIST a with the current programmed list number flashing to allow initializing of another list To continue modifying distribution lists 9 Press CHOICE 1 to the desired list number 10 Follow steps 3 through 8 to continue 11 Press CLEAR when finished to end the process Programming an Initial Address Programming an initial address for all units from a remote keyboard unit The initial address is the first address to appear when a phrase button key is pressed or on a keyboard when the ALERT ENTER MESSAGE ENTER or REMINDER ENTER key 1s pressed Note The factory default is Z Z The initial address can be the same for all buttons keys for a unit orindividual buttons keys can be assigned a different initial address Note It is recommended that the unit S initial address be set before programming in dividual
14. received Check the communication mode and zone settings Check the connection of data cord to the back of unit and wall jack A flashing number indicates at least one new message has been received and not reviewed The number indicates how many messages are stored Flashing number on the right side of display Sometimes a unit will stop communicating after being moved from one location to another If the unit is not working at the new location 1 Check the mode of communication fastwire hardwire 2 Same zone as other units on the network 3 Are hardwire cords plugged in properly Make sure the hardwire cable is plugged securely into the I O port and in turn plugged into the proper Amtel dedicated RJ 11 jack 4 Try swapping this unit with another working unit If another unit still is not able to establish communication at your location you will need to have the vendor that did your hardwiring Unit has stopped check the network wiring communicating 5 Ifall units stop communicating check to see if any electrical or telephone work has been done in your building You may need to have the vendor that did the hardwiring check the network wiring Electrical or telephone workers can interrupt the Amtel network 6 Sometimes you can re establish communication by simply unplugging and re plugging the unit similar to rebooting a computer a Check the data jack in the back of the Amtel b Check the power c
