11. steps to build a query These range from selecting from one data source to numerous parameter selection steps There are two common types of pages one where a county boundary map appears immediately Figure 8 and one where the map appears after you submit the query Figure 9 For the map after query option a series of blue drop down boxes appears with several questions about the data you want to see The questions involve the geographic extent time period and measure specific parameters You do not need to select these options you can simply click Submit and the default map and data will appear Figure 10 The output results interface has three areas 1 Graphics 2 Legend top right 3 Data Table across the bottom At the top of the Interactive Data Query Box is a metadata search option Enter your key word s to search metadata for the included data types Click the Go button after typing in your choice and a pop up window will appear with the results Clicking on a link will take you that metadata file Figure 10 Interactive Query Tool example of output Figure 9 Interactive Query Tool Map after query option The Graphical Output The metadata record provides Federal This appears as a map when it first opens Geographic Data Committee FGDC compliant Figure 12 There are four tabs across the top metadata content for each data type HTML and Map Chart Metadata and Report The one XML versions can be ge
