INON D 180 D 180S 0 5 Diffuser Thank you for purchasing Inon products By attaching this diffuser panel to an Inon D 180 or D 180S strobe the beam angle widens from a circular 100 to 110 degrees and the quality of light and shadows become softer The diffuser can be used in both External Auto and Manual Modes This diffuser is a dedicated option for use with the D 180 and D 180S strobes only and cannot be used with the Z 220 or Z 220S Compatible Strobes D 180 D 180S Attachment Method Set the D 180 1 4 EV Compensation Switch or the D 180S 1 2 Compensation Switch to the OFF position Place the diffuser over the strobe face as in image below While holding the diffuser down and pressing your thumb over the Light Adjustment Sensor making sure the diffuser seats over it completely thread in the two fixing screws When facing the strobe screw in the right side screw first then left side Do not over tighten as this could damage the diffuser Check the diffuser position making sure that it is seated evenly around the strobe face and not protruding up as in image below Use Method and Precautions Using in External Auto Mode With the diffuser installed compared to the uninstalled configuration the resulting images will be exposed 1 3EV lighter about 1 3 of a stop or the same as if you had compensated for 1 3EV without the diffuser This is because the diffuser is spreading the light wider in2. effect meaning less light is reaching the subject Accordingly the D 180 D 180S Light Sensor is receiving less reflected light from the subject so the strobe tries to compensate by firing a stronger flash resulting in 1 3EV exposure When using the diffuser it is not possible to compensate exposure with the D 180 1 4EV Compensation Switch or the D 180S 1 2EV Compensation Switch Taking the shooting conditions into consideration use the strobe s Aperture Value Set Switch INON D 180 D 180S 0 5 Diffuser Manual 1 Version 1 02 J uly 27 2003 Translation Copyright 2003 Mark Rupert All rights reserved to obtain flash output compensation Also with the diffuser installed in External Auto mode the light adjustment working distance range will shift 1 2EV about 0 5 of a stop towards the subject For more detailed explanation of External Auto Flash Compensation and Light Adjustment Range refer to your D 180 D0180S User Manual Using in Manual Mode D 180 onl With the diffuser installed the actual light volume which will transmit though the diffuser will be 1 2EV about 0 5 of a stop weaker than the setting on the strobe s main mode switch i e the image will be 1 2EV 0 5 stop darker Compared to the strobe s Main Mode Switch setting position the actual strobe output is as follows Air ISO100 x meter Flash output compared to D 180 set at Full Switch Position Guide Numbe
