5. 2 content or files from the software player This software player takes CPU resources on the IP Director workstation to decode the images Be careful when designing your setups to take this information into consideration and especially for standalone workstations because the IP Director shares CPU resources with other services synchro DB routing SQL2005 These services when loaded can use a large amount of CPU resources 1 5 1 Physical memory The PDirector version 5 8 needs 2 GB of RAM A warning will be raised every time the IPDirector will be started if the workstation doesn t meet this requirement 1 5 2 IP Director 1U workstation Pentium mobile IP Director 1U workstations based on the Pentium mobile motherboard MB 896 cannot be used with IP Director version 5 8 as it is not powerful enough You can identify this by right clicking on MyComputer and choosing Properties The System properties will display Intel Pentium M as the processor type 1 5 3 IPDirector 1U workstation Core Duo processor IP Director 1U worstations based on the Core Duo processor MB 899 T2300 CPU can be used with the software player but we have noticed some CPU peaks around 90 when the workstation is used to decode HD images i e DNxHD 100 mpbs and when the workstation is used in standalone mode running as database server connected to an XT server and with synchroDB management In this scenario the IP Director interface can be slow some
