3. tive segments During the workout the profile will show your prog ress The flashing segment of the profile represents 5 the current segment of the workout The height of the flashing segment indicates the speed or incline setting for the current segment If a different speed and or incline setting is programmed for the next 6 segment the treadmill will automatically adjust to the new speed and or incline setting The workout will continue in this way until the last 7 segment of the profile flashes in the display and the last segment ends The walking belt will then slow to a stop If the speed or incline setting is too high or too low at any time during the workout you can manu ally override the setting by pressing the Speed or Incline buttons however when the next seg ment of the workout begins the treadmill will automatically adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment Note This will change the workout see step 4 18 To stop the workout at any time press the Stop button The time will begin to flash in the display To resume the workout press the Start button or the Speed increase button The walking belt will begin to move at 1 mph When the next segment of the workout begins the treadmill will automatically adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment Change the workout if desired If desired you can change the workout while you are using it To change

5. an iFit Live workout To download an iFit Live workout in your schedule press the Map Train or Lose Wt button to down load the next workout of that type in your schedule To download the next workout in your schedule press the iFit Live button To compete in a race that you have previously scheduled press the Compete button To re run a recent iFit Live workout from your schedule first press the Track button Next press the increase and decrease buttons to select the desired workout Then press the Enter button to start the workout To use a set a goal workout press the Set A Goal button see page 17 Note Before some workouts will download you must add them to your schedule on iFit com For more information about the iFit Live work outs please see www iFit com When you select an iFit Live workout the display will show the name duration maximum speed setting and distance of the workout The display will also show the approximate number of calories you will burn during the workout and a profile of the speed settings of the workout If you select a competition workout the display may count down to the beginning of the race 5 Start the workout See step 3 on page 16 During some workouts the voice of a personal trainer will guide you through your workout To stop the workout at any time press the Stop button The time will begin to flash in the display To resume the workout press the Start button

8. option the number option or the symbol option 21 Press the up down left and right buttons to high light the desired letter or number Then press the Enter button to select the letter number or symbol When you have finished entering the password press the Done button A numerical code and a web address will appear in the matrix Go to the web address on your internet compatible device Log in to your iFit Live account on the web page Then enter the numerical code into the indicated field Follow any other instructions on the web page When the console is connected to a wireless network the wireless symbol in the display will stop flashing and become solid The wireless sym bol will show the strength of your wireless signal four arcs indicate full signal strength If you cannot complete any part of this process or if you have any questions go to http support ifit com for assistance Use WiFi WPS to set up a wireless connection This option will allow you to set up a wireless net work connection using your WPS router To set up a wireless network connection using your WPS router first press the Enter button and follow the instructions in the matrix A numerical code and a web address will appear in the matrix Go to the web address on your internet compatible device Log in to your Fit Live account on the web page Then enter the numerical code into the indicated field Follow any other ins
9. or the Speed increase button The walking belt will begin to move at the speed setting for the first seg ment of the workout When the next segment of the workout begins the treadmill will automatically adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment 6 Follow your progress with the displays See step 5 on page 14 During a competition workout the Compete option will show your progress in the race As you race the top line in the matrix will show how much of the race you have completed The other lines will show your top four competitors The end of the matrix represents the end of the race 7 Measure your heart rate if desired See step 6 on page 15 8 Turn on the fan if desired See step 7 on page 15 9 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console See step 8 on page 15 For more information about the iFit Live mode go to www iFit com IMPORTANT To satisfy exposure compliance requirements the antenna and transmitter inside the console must be at least 8 in 20 cm from all persons and must not be near or connected to any other antenna or transmitter 19 HOW TO CHANGE CONSOLE SETTINGS The console features a settings mode that allows you to view usage information to personalize console set tings and to set up and manage a wireless network connection 1 Select the settings mode To select the settings mode hold down the Stop button while inserting the key into the
10. press the switch back in Tripped SYMPTOM The power turns off during use a Check the power switch see the drawing above If the switch has tripped wait for five minutes and then press the switch back in b Make sure that the power cord is plugged in If the power cord is plugged in unplug it wait for five minutes and then plug it back in 24 Remove the key from the console and then reinsert it If the treadmill still will not run please see the front cover of this manual SYMPTOM The console screen remains lit when you remove the key from the console a The console features a display demo mode designed to be used if the treadmill is displayed in a store If the screen shows a demo presenta tion when you remove the key the demo mode is turned on To turn off the demo mode hold down the Stop button for a few seconds If the displays are still lit see HOW TO CHANGE CONSOLE SETTINGS on page 20 to turn off the demo mode SYMPTOM The displays of the console do not function properly a Remove the key from the console and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Place the treadmill in the storage position see HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL on page 23 Next remove the two indicated 8 x 5 8 Screws 28 Lower the treadmill see HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE on page 23 Remove the five 8 x 3 4 Screws 10 Carefully raise the ends of the Left and Right Foot Rail Covers 49 73 to remove two of
11. the Screws Then carefully remove the Motor Hood 74 Locate the Reed Switch 59 and the Magnet 58 on the left side of the Pulley 57 Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch Make sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed Switch is about 1 8 in 3 mm If necessary loosen the 8 x 3 4 Tek Screw 9 move the Reed Switch slightly and then retighten the Screw Reattach the Motor Hood not shown and run the treadmill for a few minutes to check for a correct speed reading SYMPTOM The incline of the treadmill does not change correctly a Hold down the Stop button and the Speed increase button insert the key into the console and then release the Stop button and the Speed increase button Press the Stop button and then press the Incline increase or decrease button The treadmill 25 will automatically rise to the maximum incline level and then return to the minimum level This will recalibrate the incline system If the incline does not begin calibrating press the Stop button again and then press the Incline increase or decrease button again When the incline is calibrated remove the key from the console SYMPTOM The walking belt slows when walked on a Use only a surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 11 If the walking belt is overtightened treadmill per

14. 80 Your browser will load a web page If the web page does not appear double check the IP address and the previous instructions of this step Follow the instructions on the web page to connect the tread mill to your wireless network Note A warning may appear stating that the server cannot be identified If this happens make sure that you have entered the IP address correctly If you cannot complete any part of this process or if you have any questions go to support ifit com for assistance Exit the settings mode To exit the settings mode remove the key from the console 22 HOW TO USE THE STEREO SOUND SYSTEM To play music or audio books through the console s stereo speakers you must connect your MP3 player CD player or other personal audio player to the con sole through the MP3 jack To use the MP3 jack plug your audio wire into the MP3 jack on the console see the drawing on page 12 Then plug your audio wire into a jack on your MP3 player CD player or other personal audio player Make sure that your audio wire is fully inserted Next press the play button on your MP3 player CD player or other personal audio player Adjust the vol ume on your personal audio player or press the volume increase and decrease but tons on the console Increase Decrease If you are using a personal CD player and the CD skips set the CD player on the floor or another flat sur face instead of on the console

O CHANGE CONSOLE SETTINGS on page 20 to turn off the demo mode Next stand on the foot rails of the treadmill Locate the clip attached to the key and slide the clip securely onto the waistband of your clothes Then insert the key into the console After a moment the displays will light IMPORTANT In an emergency the key can be pulled from the console causing the walking belt to slow to a stop Test the clip by carefully taking a few steps backward if the key is not pulled from the console adjust the position of the clip Note The first time you insert the key into the console the incline may automatically rise to the maximum incline level and then return to the minimum incline level This will calibrate the incline of the treadmill If the incline does not automatically change see step 3 at the right Note The console can display speed and distance in either miles or kilometers To find out which unit of measurement is selected or to change the unit of measurement see HOW TO CHANGE CONSOLE SETTINGS on page 20 For simplicity all instructions in this section refer to miles 13 HOW TO SET UP THE CONSOLE Before using the treadmill for the first time set up the console 1 Create an iFit Live account To create an iFit Live account or for more informa tion about the account go to www iFit com and click Register Select either the basic plan or

To purchase a surge suppressor see precaution 13 on page 3 Use only a surge suppressor that is UL 1449 listed as a transient voltage surge suppressor TVSS The surge suppressor must have a UL suppressed voltage rating of 400 volts or less and a minimum surge dissipation of 450 joules The surge suppressor must also be electri cally rated for 120 volts AC and 15 amps There must be a monitoring light on the surge suppressor to indi cate whether it is functioning properly Failure to use a properly functioning surge suppressor could result in damage to the control system of the treadmill and serious injury to users Plug in the Power Cord The treadmill must be grounded If it should malfunc tion or break down grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of elec tric shock The treadmill power cord has a plug witha grounding pin see drawing 1 on this page A DANGER Improper connection of the power cord increases the risk of elec tric shock Do not modify the plug if it will not fit an outlet have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician If you are unsure whether the treadmill is properly grounded contact a qualified electrician Plug the power cord into a surge suppressor and plug the surge suppressor into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances The outlet must be on a 11 nominal 120 v
20. console and then release the Stop button The settings mode will then appear in the display The time display will show the total number of hours that the treadmill has been used The distance display will show the total number of miles or kilometers that the walking belt has moved 2 Navigate the settings mode menu The matrix will display a menu of the settings mode options Press the increase and decrease buttons next to the Enter button to highlight the desired option The lower part of the matrix will display instructions for the highlighted option Make sure to follow the instructions displayed in the lower part of the matrix 3 Change settings as desired Safety Sensor If the ultrasonic sensor is turned on the word ON will appear in the matrix To turn on or turn off the ultrasonic sensor press the Enter button Demo The console features a display demo mode designed to be used if the treadmill is dis played in a store While the demo mode is turned on the console will function normally when you plug in the power cord press the power switch into the reset position and insert the key into the console However when you remove the key the displays will remain lit although the buttons will not function If the demo mode is turned on the word ON will appear in the matrix To turn on or turn off the demo mode press the Enter button 20 Units The selected unit of measurement will appear in the matr
21. cts on the handrails for approximately ten seconds avoid moving your hands When your pulse is detected first a heart symbol in the calorie display will appear next one or two dashes will appear and then your heart rate will be shown For the most accurate heart rate reading continue to hold the con tacts for about 15 seconds Turn on the fan if desired The fan features mul tiple speed settings Press the fan increase or decrease button to select a fan speed or to turn off the fan Note If the fan is on when the walking belt is stopped the fan will turn off auto matically after a few minutes Increase Decrease When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console When you are finished using the treadmill step onto the foot rails press the Stop button remove the key from the console and put it in a secure place Next press the power switch into the off position and unplug the power cord IMPORTANT If you do not do this the treadmill s electrical components may wear prematurely HOW TO USE AN ONBOARD WORKOUT 1 Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 13 Select an onboard workout To select an onboard workout press the Intensity button the Speed button the Incline button or the Calorie button repeatedly until the desired workout appears in the display When you select an onboard workout the display will show the duration the distance the na

36. or fat burning the middle number is the heart rate for maximum fat burning and the highest number is the heart rate for aerobic exercise 27 Burning Fat To burn fat effectively you must exer cise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time During the first few minutes of exercise your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy If your goal is to burn fat adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone For maximum fat burning exercise with your heart rate near the middle number in your training zone Aerobic Exercise If your goal is to strengthen your cardiovascular system you must perform aerobic exercise which is activity that requires large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods of time For aerobic exercise adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the highest number in your training zone WORKOUT GUIDELINES Warming Up Start with 5 to 10 minutes of stretch ing and light exercise A warm up increases your body temperature heart rate and circulation in preparation for exercise Training Zone Exercise Exercise for 20 to 30 min utes with your heart rate in your training zone During the first few weeks of your exercise program do not keep your heart rate in your training zone for longer than 20 minutes B
