10. 640 Wind Direction of Gusts 641 640 Wind Speed 641 640 Wind Speed of Gusts 641 640 Table 5 1 Overview of which station each climate parameter origins from 6 Processesing of Hydrological Data As with the climate data the aim of the data processing of the hydrological data is to establish one data series of high quality for each measured hydrological parameter The data processing for stage water level data includes the following steps 1 The manual and precise measurements of water level are structured and for each measurement the positions of the sonic range sensor and the pressure transducers are calculated relative to a reference point near the station 2 Any necessary corrections of the data are performed This includes unit transformation corrections for sudden erroneous change in water level caused by sensor displacement and finally removing error data 3 Water level data are corrected for slow displacement of the pressure transducers when a correction factor is added or subtracted from the measurements This correction factor is calculated by linear interpolation between manual stage measurements 4 Finally all valid water level data from the station are combined to perform the final time series The data processing and calculation of a Q h relation includes the following steps 1 The discharge measurements are imported to a database that handles stage and discharge 2 The discharge measurements are quality checked a

14. able at the moment Project no B15 02 May 2010 Q ClimateBasis Manual for ZERO Version 1 5 Radiation parameters Belfort precipitation gauge Northwest Southwest Figure 2 2 An overview of the climate stations 640 and 641 2 1 The Climate stations 640 and 641 The two almost identical climate stations 640 and 641 are placed in the same microclimatic environment in the central valley of Zackenbergelven drainage basin This drainage basin includes Zackenbergdalen Store S dal Lindemansdalen and Slettedalen and covers an area of 514 km of which 106 km are covered by glaciers Most parameters are measured at the same height at both stations ensuring complete time series even with data outage from one mast but some parameters are only measured at one mast Photosyntetical active radiation PAR and Net radiation NR at station 640 only and UV B radiation UVB at station 641 only Precipitation PRE is measured at both stations but at station 640 presently with a tipping bucket gauge and at station 641 with a Belfort and a PLUVIO gauge Station 640 is equipped with an Iridium modem transferring data to Asiaqs database once a day Data from station 641 is collected at least once a year in connection with station maintenance visit performed by Asiaqs technicians GeoBasis also collects data from the stations on a weekly basis during the field season The equipment measuring the

16. different parameters are mounted on a 7 5 m mast two 2 m masts and a precipitation gauge see Figure 2 2 All masts were erected August 1995 A uniform and planar remnant of a meltwater plain surrounds the 7 5 m masts Project no B15 02 May 2010 mod ASIA Q ClimateBasis Manual for ZERO Version 1 6 which are placed approximately 43 m above mean sea level The vegetation underneath the masts is a homogeneous cover of Cassiope vegetation which is 0 20 cm high Physical changes to the station such as changes in the data logger program replacements and calibration of sensors will be published once a year in a separate report the QC report 2 2 Hydrometric Station 642 The hydrometric station 642 is located by the Zackenberg River 0 5 km from the climate station 640 and 641 and approximately 1 5 km from the Zackenberg Bay 15 m above sea level The station was established August 29 1995 on the western bank of the lower part of the river but was moved to the eastern bank of the river in 1998 after problems with the station being buried beneath a thick snowdrift each winter In 2005 the station was flushed away during a flood and rebuild on August 5 2005 at a position 30 m south of the river crossing still on the eastern bank were it is located at present me The station measures the water level water temperature air temperature suspended sediment and conductivity automatically every 15 minute see Table 3 2 The water
