1.     3  Select the iFit fitness journal     To select the fitness journal  scroll through the  main menu and press the screen near the word  JOURNAL  The console will then load the stored  journal information     To enter the date and time  see step 5 on page 17   4  View exercise information     When you select the fitness journal  a calendar for  the current month will appear  To select a day of  the month  press the day on the screen  To select  a week  press the box at the left of the desired  week  To view exercise information for the current  month  press MONTH TOTALS  To view a different  month  slide your finger across the screen to scroll  through the months  If not all of the days of a  month are displayed on the screen  press the More  increase or decrease button on the screen to see  additional days  Note  If you exercise more than  once per day  all of the exercise information for  that day will be combined     The fitness journal can display the following exer   cise information     e Time   The  total number  of hours you  have walked  or run on the  treadmill        SPE    DIS TAHICE 1267 M  ANE  PF    CALORIES            Distance   The total distance you have walked or  run on the treadmill       Calories   The total approximate number of calo   ries you have burned       Average Speed    Your average walking or run   ning speed       Average Pace    Your average walking or running  pace in minutes per mile or kilometer     5  Exit the fitness journal     To e
2.  14   Use only a single outlet surge suppres   sor that meets all of the specifications described on page 14  IMPORTANT  The treadmill is not  compatible with GFCl equipped outlets       After the power cord has been plugged in  make sure that the key is inserted into the console     frame near the power cord  If the switch protrudes as  shown  the switch has tripped  To reset the switch   wait for five minutes and then press the switch back  in  Tripped       The power turns off during use    a     Cc     d     Check the power switch  see the drawing above   If the switch has tripped  wait for five minutes  and then press the switch back in       Make sure that the power cord is plugged in  If the power cord is plugged in  unplug it  wait for five    minutes  and then plug it back in   Remove the key from the console  Reinsert the key into the console     If the treadmill still will not run  please see the front cover of this manual     The console displays remain lit when you remove the key from the console    a     The console features a display demo mode  designed to be used if the treadmill is displayed in a   store  If the displays remain lit wnen you remove the key  the demo mode is turned on  To turn off  the demo mode  hold down the Stop button for a few seconds  If the displays are still lit  see THE  INFORMATION MODE on page 27 to turn off the demo mode     The displays of the console do not function properly    a     Remove the key from the console and UNPLUG THE

If desired  you can redefine the workout while  using it  To change the speed or incline setting  for the current segment  simply press the speed  or incline buttons  When the current segment ends   the new setting will be saved in memory  To increase  the length of the workout  first wait until the workout  ends  Then  press the Start button and program  speed and incline settings for as many additional seg   ments as desired  custom workouts can have up to  40 segments  When you have added as many seg   ments as desired  press the Stop button twice  To  decrease the length of the workout  press the Stop  button twice when you want the workout to end     Follow your progress with the screen   See step 5 on page 20    Measure your heart rate if desired   See step 7 on page 19    Turn on the fan if desired    See step 8 on page 19     When you are finished exercising  remove the  key from the console     See step 9 on page 19     HOW TO USE AN IFIT COMPETITION TRAINING  WORKOUT    1     Insert the key into the console   See step 1 on page 16   Personalize console settings if desired     See HOW TO PERSONALIZE CONSOLE SET   TINGS on page 16     Personalize race settings if desired     To personalize race settings  scroll through the  main menu and press the screen near the word  COMPETITION  Then press SETTINGS     Select a maximum incline by scrolling through the  incline settings and pressing the desired maximum  incline  Then  select the speed at which you will  start walki

POWER CORD  Next  carefully lower the Uprights  81   111   Then  remove the two indicated  8 x 3 4  Screws   1   Note  A Phillips screwdriver with a shaft at least 8  in   20 cm  long is required           29    PROBLEM     SOLUTION     PROBLEM     SOLUTION     Raise the Uprights  81  111  to the vertical position     Remove the three  8 x 3 4  Screws  1  from the Motor    Hood  63   and carefully pivot the Motor Hood off     Locate the Reed Switch  65  and the Magnet  49  on  the left side of the Pulley  51   Turn the Pulley until the  Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch  Make sure  that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed  Switch is about 1 8 in   3 mm   If necessary  move  the Reed Switch slightly using a slotted screwdriver   Reattach the Motor Hood  not shown   making sure  that the five  8 x 3 4  Screws  not shown  are inserted  into the same holes from which they were removed   Run the treadmill for a few minutes to check for a cor   rect speed reading     The incline of the treadmill does not change correctly                                                                                     a  With the key in the console  press one of the Incline buttons  While the incline is changing  re   move the key  After a few seconds  re insert the key  The treadmill will automatically rise to the  maximum incline level and then return to the minimum level  This will recalibrate the incline system     The walking belt slows when walked on    a  Use only a single outlet

7.  surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 14     b  If the walking belt is overtightened  treadmill perfor   mance may decrease and the walking belt may be   come damaged  Remove the key and UNPLUG THE  POWER CORD  Using the hex key  turn both idler  roller bolts counterclockwise  1 4 of a turn  When the  walking belt is properly tightened  you should be able  to lift each edge of the walking belt 3 to 4 in   8 to 10  cm  off the walking platform  Be careful to keep the  walking belt centered  Then  plug in the power cord   insert the key  and run the treadmill for a few minutes   Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened           Idler Roller Bolts    c  If the walking belt still slows when walked on  please see the front cover of this manual     30    PROBLEM  The walking belt is off center or slips when walked on    SOLUTION  a  If the walking belt is off center  remove the key and  UNPLUG THE POWER CORD  If the walking belt  has shifted to the left  use the hex key to turn the left  idler roller bolt clockwise 1 2 of a turn  if the walking  belt has shifted to the right  turn the bolt counter   clockwise 1 2 of a turn  Be careful not to overtighten  the walking belt  Plug in the power cord  insert the key   and run the treadmill for a few minutes  Repeat until  the walking belt is centered     b  If the walking belt slips when walked on  first remove  the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD  Using the  hex key  turn both idler roller bo

IDELINES    Warming Up    Start with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching  and light exercise  A warm up increases your body  temperature  heart rate  and circulation in preparation  for exercise     Training Zone Exercise     Exercise for 20 to 30 min   utes with your heart rate in your training zone   During  the first few weeks of your exercise program  do not  keep your heart rate in your training zone for longer  than 20 minutes   Breathe regularly and deeply as you  exercise   never hold your breath     Cooling Down    Finish with 5 to 10 minutes of stretch   ing  Stretching increases the flexibility of your muscles  and helps to prevent post exercise problems     EXERCISE FREQUENCY    To maintain or improve your condition  complete three  workouts each week  with at least one day of rest be   tween workouts  After a few months of regular exer   cise  you may complete up to five workouts each  week  if desired  Remember  the key to success is to  make exercise a regular and enjoyable part of your  everyday life     32    SUGGESTED STRETCHES  The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right  Move slowly as you stretch   never bounce   1  Toe Touch Siretch    Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from  your hips  Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach  down toward your toes as far as possible  Hold for 15 counts  then  relax  Repeat 3 times  Stretches  Hamstrings  back of knees and  back     2  Hamstring Stretch    Sit with on

To use an iFit card  see page 25   To view the iFit fitness journal  see page 26  To use  the stereo sound system  see page 26  To use the  information mode  see page 27     15    HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER    IMPORTANT  If the treadmill has been exposed to  cold temperatures  allow it to warm to room tem   perature before turning on the power  If you do not  do this  you may damage the console displays or  other electrical components     Plug in the power cord  see  page 14   Next  locate the  power switch on the tread   mill frame near the power  cord  Make sure that the  switch is in the reset  position     Ni    Reset    IMPORTANT  The console features a display demo  mode  designed to be used if the treadmill is dis   played in a store  If the displays light as soon as  you plug in the power cord and press the power  switch into the reset position  the demo mode is  turned on  To turn off the demo mode  hold down  the Stop button for a few seconds  If the displays  remain lit  see THE INFORMATION MODE on page  27 to turn off the demo mode     Next  stand on the foot rails of the treadmill  Find the  clip attached to the key  see the drawing on page 15   and slide the clip onto the waistband of your clothes   Then  insert the key into the console  After a moment   the displays will light  IMPORTANT  In an emergency   the key can be pulled from the console  causing  the walking belt to slow to a stop  Test the clip by  carefully taking a few steps backward  if the key is  no

17. d or incline setting may be pro   grammed for consecutive segments     Start the walking belt     Press the Start button to start the workout  A mo   ment after you press the button  the treadmill will  automatically adjust to the first speed and incline  settings of the workout  Hold the handrails and  begin walking     During the program  the profile will show your  progress  The flashing segment of the profile repre   sents the current segment of the program  The  height of the flashing segment indicates the speed  setting for the current segment  At the end of each  segment  a series of tones will sound and the next  segment of the profile will begin to flash  If the  speed and or incline is about to change  the speed  and or incline setting will appear on the screen to  alert you  The treadmill will then automatically ad   just to the speed and or incline settings for the next  segment     The program will continue in this way until the last  segment of the profile flashes and the last segment  ends  The walking belt will then slow to a stop     If the speed or incline setting for the current seg   ment is too high or too low  you can manually over   ride the setting by pressing the speed and incline    20    buttons  however  when the current segment of  the program ends  the treadmill will automati   cally adjust to the speed and incline settings for  the next segment     To pause the program at any time  press the Stop  button  To restart the program  press the Start 
18. demo mode     To exit the settings mode  press the Home button     HOW TO PERSONALIZE EQUALIZER SETTINGS  Press the Home button to return to the main menu     Press EQUALIZER  Scroll through the settings and  press the desired setting     17    Insert the key into the console   See step 1 on page 16   Personalize console settings if desired     See HOW TO PERSONALIZE CONSOLE SET   TINGS on page 16     Select the manual mode     To select the manual mode  scroll through the  main menu and press the screen near the word  MANUAL     Start the walking belt and adjust the speed     To start the walking belt  press the Start button  the  Speed increase button  or one of the 1 Step Speed  buttons numbered 1 to 12  Note  After you press  button  it may take a moment for the walking belt to  reach the selected speed setting     If you press the Start button or the Speed increase  button  the walking belt will begin to move at 1  mph  As you exercise  change the speed of the  walking belt as desired by pressing the Speed in   crease and decrease buttons  Each time you press  one of the buttons  the speed setting will change  by 0 1 mph  if you hold down the button  the speed  setting will change in increments of 0 5 mph  If you  press one of the numbered 1 Step speed buttons   the speed of the walking belt will gradually change  until it reaches the selected speed setting     To pause the walking belt  press the Stop button   To restart the walking belt  press the Start button   the Sp
19. e con   trol system of the treadmill  If the control sys   tem is damaged  the walking belt may slow   accelerate  or stop unexpectedly  which may  result in a fall and serious injury     Keep the power cord and the surge suppres   sor away from heated surfaces     Never move the walking belt while the power  is turned off  Do not operate the treadmill if  the power cord or plug is damaged  or if the  treadmill is not working properly   See  TROUBLESHOOTING on page 29 if the tread   mill is not working properly      Read  understand  and test the emergency  stop procedure before using the treadmill  see  HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 16      Never start the treadmill while you are stand   ing on the walking belt  Always hold the  handrails while using the treadmill     18     19     20     21     22     The treadmill is capable of high speeds   Adjust the speed in small increments to  avoid sudden jumps in speed     The pulse sensor is not a medical device   Various factors  including the user s move   ment  may affect the accuracy of heart rate  readings  The pulse sensor is intended only  as an exercise aid in determining heart rate  trends in general     Never leave the treadmill unattended while it  is running  Always remove the key  unplug  the power cord  and press the power switch  into the off position when the treadmill is not  in use   See the drawing on page 5 for the lo   cation of the power switch      Do not attempt to raise  lower  or move the  treadmill unt

43. ur ex   ercise     Workout Intensity Level Bar    TRAINING ZONES                                                                         7  Measure your heart rate if desired     Before using  the handgrip  pulse sensor   remove the  sheets of  plastic from  the metal con   tacts  In addi   tion  make       sure that your hands are clean  3     To measure your heart rate  stand on the foot  rails and hold the metal contacts on the handrail     avoid moving your hands  When your pulse is de   tected  your heart rate will be shown  For the most  accurate heart rate reading  continue to hold  the contacts for about 15 seconds     Turn on the fan if desired     The console features an adjustable speed fan   Press the Fan button repeatedly to select a fan  speed or to turn off the fan  Note  If the fan is on  when the walking belt is stopped  the fan will turn  off automatically after a few minutes     When you are finished exercising  remove the  key from the console     Step onto the foot rails  press the Stop button  and  adjust the incline of the treadmill to the lowest  setting  The incline must be at the lowest setting  when you fold the treadmill to the storage posi   tion or you may damage the treadmill  Next  re   move the key from the console and put it in a secure  place     When you are finished using the treadmill  press  the power switch into the off position and unplug  the power cord  IMPORTANT  If you do not do  this  the treadmill   s electrical components may  w
44. w a workout time of forty  minutes and a flat profile  If the workout time is  not forty minutes or the profile is not flat  see  HOW TO USE A CUSTOM WORKOUT on page  22     Each custom workout is divided into one minute  segments  One speed setting and one incline set   ting can be programmed for each segment     Start the walking belt     Press the Start button to start the workout  A mo   ment after you press the button  the walking belt  will begin to move  Hold the handrails and begin  walking     21    To program a speed setting and an incline setting  for the first one minute segment of the workout   simply adjust the speed and incline of the treadmill  as desired by pressing the speed and incline but   tons     When the first segment ends  a series of tones will  sound and the current speed and incline settings  will be saved in memory    Program a speed setting and an incline setting for  the second segment as described above  Continue  programming speed and incline settings for up to  40 segments    When you are finished programming your workout   press the Stop button twice  The custom workout  will then be saved in memory    Follow your progress with the screen    See step 5 on page 20    Measure your heart rate if desired    See step 7 on page 19    Turn on the fan if desired     See step 8 on page 19     When you are finished exercising  remove the  key from the console     See step 9 on page 19     HOW TO USE A CUSTOM WORKOUT    1     Insert the key into the co
