2. 9 2 Setting up a Dial up Connection This section is intended for users who currently use the Internet and already have an account Under each user s profile a dial up connection may be personalized with their own login name and password Step 1 Double click on the My Computer icon generally located in the top left corner of your Windows desktop Step 2 Click on the link Network and Dial Up Connection Step 3 Make sure that the modem 1s installed in the Computer system and that it is plugged into a telephone wall outlet Step 4 Follow the screen instructions NOTE If a successful telephone connection is not made the user name and password will not be saved until a valid connection has taken place 47 10 Sharing the Internet Connection in Windows XP Professional 32 bit or Home Edition 10 1 Simultaneous and Independent Sharing Two people can simultaneously and independently share the Internet using ONE modem ONE telephone line and ONE Internet Service Provider ISP Each user can send and recetve e mail browse the World Wide Web play games chat and download files simultaneously and independently of each other Please note however that America Online AOL does not allow multiple users to check e mail simultaneously If using AOL only the host station can connect to AOL and browse the Internet Once the host is connected to AOL the station user can bring up Internet Explorer and both users can the

If the BeTwin software is uninstalled and re installed on the same computer it will be necessary to register before BeTwin can work 25 4 7 Configuring the BeT win Station Using Configuration Wizard If you have not run the BeTwin Station Configuration Wizard during the software installation or if your hardware configuration has changed you can still run the Configuration Wizard from the BeTwin Control Center Step 1 Double click on the BeTwin icon to open Control Center On the opening screen click on STATION CONFIGURATION W Be Twin Host Program Users Stations Messages Options Help rae Stations Legged sen Ei Host Admin i Send a Message Step 2 The Configuration Wizard feature enables BeTwin to auto assign the USB mice and keyboards to their respective workstations To auto assign the USB audio speakers you need to connect the peripherals USB mouse keyboard and speakers of each workstation to its USB Hub respectively Click on CONFIGURATION WIZARD Station Configuration 26 Step 3 You should see a window similar to the one below Click OK to disable BeTwin reboot the system and start the Configuration Wizard Be Twin BeTwin is currently active and must be disabled The Configuration Wizard only runs when BeTwin is disabled because the Wizard needs to access all the video cards keyboards and mice that are connected to the computer Press OK to disable BeT

If an error message occurs when users try to simultaneously initiate a print job try printing again If a system configuration makes using peripherals difficult from a BeTwin Station try using the Computer s console for these functions For example if there is trouble printing from a BeTwin Station try printing from the Host workplace DO NOT shut down the Computer while any games are running Installing the BeTwin software interferes with the Windows Multi monitor support Some video drivers complain about this interference by displaying the yellow exclamation point next to the appearance of the video adapter in both the Windows Device Manager as well as the BeTwin Control Center s Hardware list Most of the time this is normal and does not prevent BeTwin from working properly 50 13 Registration Licensing 13 1 Demo version When initially installed BeTwin runs in demo mode While in demo mode you can evaluate BeTwin before you purchase During the evaluation period you can use up to eight BeTwin stations After the period BeTwin will terminate all BeTwin Station s If you do wish to purchase BeTwin you will need to access our web site to purchase and register the software 13 2 Internet Registration Note Please make sure that the BeTwin Stations are setup and running correctly under demo mode before registering BeTwin For Internet Registration you will need to use Microsoft s Internet Exp

Insert the manufacturer s installation disk and then a make sure that the corect drive is selected below Cancel Copy manufacturer s files from DAV G Alsis6326 ka Step 7 You should now see a dialogue box titled Select the Device Driver Select the model SiS 6326 and click on Next to proceed Hardware Update Wizard Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware S Select the manufacturer and model of your hardware device and then click Next IF you have a disk that contains the diver you want to install click Have Disk This driver is not digitally signed Tell me why driver signing iz important Step 8 Once Windows XP has copied the information from the video driver disk you should see a screen that looks like the one below Click on Finish to proceed 19 4 4 Hardware Update Wizard Completing the Hardware Update Wizard The wizard has finished installing the software for g slo 6326 Click Finish to close the wizard Step 9 You will be prompted to restart your computer Remove the video driver disk from the CD ROM drive Click on the Yes button to restart Your computer will reboot and you will next see the Windows XP desktop screen Enabling the Multiple Display Monitor feature under Windows 2000 Professional After successfully installing the PCI or PCI Express video card by default the Multiple Display Monitor feature is disabled To enable the Multiple

Step 9 You should now see a dialogue box similar to the one below Click on the Next button Upgrade Device Driver Wizard Start Device Driver Installation The device driver will be installed with the default settings The wizard is ready to install the driver for the following hardware device m SiS 6326 Windows will use default settings to install the software for this hardware device To install the software for your new hardware click Next Cancel Step 10 You should now see a screen that looks like the one below Click on Yes to proceed Digital Signature Not Found i x xX The Microsoft digital signature affirms that software has been tested with windows and that the software has nat been altered since it was bested The software you are about to install does not contain a Microsoft digital signature Therefore there it no guarantee that this software works comectl with Windows sis 6326 If You want to search for Microsoft digitally signed oftware vizit the Windows Update Web site at http iwindowsupdate microsoth com to see if one it available Do vou want to continue the installation Ho More Info Step 11 Once Windows 2000 has copied the information from the video driver disk you should see a screen that looks like the one below Click on Finish to proceed 14 Upgrade Device Driver Wizard Completing the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard E S
10. correctly If you cannot see this please contact the video card manufacturer for assistance Step 7 Connect the USB mouse and USB keyboard to the computer following the manufacturer s instructions Step 8 Windows will now detect the USB equipment and may ask for Windows disk or USB driver disk supplied with the USB equipment Refer to the instructions supplied with the mouse and keyboard to direct you through this portion on the installation e It is possible at this point that Windows has already detected and installed the new hardware properly and may not request any additional drivers Step 9 The USB mouse and USB keyboard can be tested by its effect on the host screen e You may verify the working status of the keyboard by pressing the Windows key The start menu should be displayed e You may verify the working status of the mouse by moving it The mouse cursor should move e Ifthe mouse and keyboard do not work properly please contact the manufacturer of those devices for assistance At this point the video card or video adapter monitor USB mouse and USB keyboard should be working properly with Windows You may now install the BeTwin software 10 4 2 Installing the Video Drivers for Windows 2000 Professional Follow the instructions below for installation of the video drivers if your personal computer is running Windows 2000 Professional Step 1 Right click on the conflicting device under the Dis

18. and BeTwin workstations 49 12 Problem Solving 12 1 General Guidelines The following are general guidelines which will assist in properly using and maintaining BeTwin If you are having trouble getting the additional display to work correctly make sure that the AGP or PCI Express adapter is the primary display It is the primary display if the attached monitor is used while the computer is booting If it is not you should change the BIOS option in the BIOS setup screen When editing the Primary Display option You should make sure that it says AGP or PEG Some BIOSs have slightly different wording some do not have this option If the BIOS does not have this option it may be possible for BeTwin to work however the use of such machines is not recommended Always install and uninstall programs on the Computer when BeTwin stations are not in use e Use the Computer s console host workplace when listening to audio from multimedia CD s or the World Wide Web Sound is not supported on BeTwin Stations unless USB audio equipment has been installed Try to schedule the use of floppy disk drives for times when the usage of BeTwin is at a minimum Use of floppy drives may cause momentary slow downs of the system If a monitor keyboard or mouse is replaced shut down then restart the BeTwin Station e The BeTwin Station will not work unless all three devices are attached monitor keyboard and mouse
