3. Denmark 1 1 CHAPTER 1 General Introduction Following information is relevant when both SLFLIB and LODLIB are used to update library files SLFLIB maintains a date and time stamp for each program whenever a program is inserted or updated on the library file The stamp is used both for documentation and synchronization control in the TP8 librarian mode Although the library file may be updated both from LODLIB and SLFLIB care must taken when using LODLIB since it erased all stamps from the library file Stamps may be re inserted with the STAMP directive to ensure proper synchronization in the TP8 librarian mode When using LODLIB on a library file last updated with SLFLIB the length specification in the directory TABLE is incorrect due to SLFLIB s use of date and time stamp This error is automatically corrected by LODLIB for subsequent runs and has no practical impact SLFLIB creates a dummy member S L F on the library file for stamp maintenance A LODLIB directory will include this dummy member otherwise it has no practical impact 1 2 TP LIB Compatibility With the re introduction of DMIV TP LIB for the TP8 environment IT3 0 SLFLIB has been extended to include both LODLIB and TP LIB format support SLFLIB naturally maintains compatibility with TP LIB library format however the functional operation of a TP LIB library is equivalent for both TP LIB and LODLIB format Thus SLFLIB is not compatible with any form of TP
