1. appears when the information mode is selected press the Speed decrease button so d disap pears To exit the information mode remove the key from the console HOW TO ADJUST THE CUSHIONING SYSTEM The treadmill fea tures an ad justable cushion ing system that reduces the im pact as you walk or run on the treadmill To in crease the firm ness of the walk ing platform turn the adjustment knob counterclockwise To decrease the firmness turn the knob clockwise Note The faster you run on the treadmill or the more you weigh the firmer the cushioning system should be HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill adjust the incline to the lowest position If this is not done the treadmill may be per manently damaged Remove the key and unplug the power cord CAUTION You must be able to safely lift 45 pounds 20 kg to raise lower or move the treadmill 1 Hold the treadmill with your hands in the location shown by the arrow at the right CAUTION To decrease the possi bility of injury bend your legs and keep your back straight As you raise the treadmill make sure to lift with your legs rather than your back Raise the treadmill about halfway to the vertical position 2 Move your right hand to the position shown and hold the treadmill firmly Using your left hand pull the latch knob to the left and hold it Raise the treadmill unti

6. a problem try relocating the treadmill e The CR2032 battery may need to be replaced see page 28 OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PRE LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high performance lubricant IMPORTANT Never apply sili cone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform Such substances will deterio rate the walking belt and cause excessive wear HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD This product must be earthed If it should malfunction or break down earthing provides a path of least resistance for electric cur 1 Socket on Treadmill rent to reduce the risk of electric shock This product is equipped with a power cord having an equipment earthing conductor and an earthing plug Important If the power cord is damaged it must be replaced with a manufacturer recommended power cord See drawing 1 Plug the indicated end of the power cord into the socket on the treadmill See drawing 2 Press the pins on the other end of the power cord Adaptor into the indicated metal clips in the adaptor Close the adaptor cover D over the end of the power cord and tighten the screw in the adaptor Important Make sure that the adaptor cover is secure and that the screw has been tightened before using the power cord See drawing 3 Plug the power cord into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and earthed in accordance with all local codes and ordinances Important The treadm
7. and dis tance in either kilome tres or miles To deter mine which unit of mea surement is selected hold down the Stop button while inserting the key into the console An M for metric kilometres or an E for English miles will appear in the upper right area of the display Press the Speed increase but ton to change the unit of measurement When the desired unit of measurement is selected remove the key Note For simplicity all instructions in this section refer to kilometres 13 The lower centre of the display will show the dis tance that you have walked or run during your workout Odometer l Distance To see the total number of kilometres that the walking belt has moved since the treadmill was purchased press the Odometer button the words Total Dist and the total number of kilometres will appear in the display To see the number of kilometres that the walking belt has moved during the last week the last month or another period of time press the Odometer button again the words My Dist and the total number of kilometres will appear in the display To reset this number hold down the Odometer button for a few seconds To see the distance that you have walked or run during your workout press the Odometer button again To reset the display press the Stop button re move the key and then reinsert the key Measure your heart rate if desired To use the chest
8. and the two Short Console Bolts Console Assembly Insert an Upright Endcap 79 into the top of each Upright 69 only one side is shown Note Insert the end of the Upright Endcap indicated by the arrow first use a rubber mallet if necessary 7 Press the Latch Knob Sleeve 70 into the left Upright 69 Note lt may be helpful to use a rubber mallet to fully insert the Latch Knob Sleeve Remove the knob from the pin Make sure that the collar and the spring are on the pin as shown Note If there are two collars place one on each side of the spring Insert the pin into the Latch Knob Sleeve 70 and the left Upright 69 Tighten the knob back onto the pin 8 Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill Keep the included allen wrench in a secure place the allen wrench is used to adjust the walking belt see page 27 To protect the floor or carpet from damage place a mat under the treadmill HOW TO USE THE CHEST PULSE SENSOR HOW TO PUT ON THE CHEST PULSE SENSOR The chest pulse sensor consists of two components the chest strap and the sensor unit see the drawing below Insert the tab on one end of the chest strap into the hole in one end of the sensor unit as shown in the inset drawing Press the end of the sensor unit under the buckle on the chest strap The tab should be flush with the front of the sensor unit e mg J Sensor Unit Next wrap the chest pulse se
9. gauge cord that is no longer than 1 5 m 5 ft b If the walking belt is overtightened treadmill perfor mance may decrease and the walking belt may be come damaged Remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the allen wrench turn both rear roller bolts counterclockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is properly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 7 to 10 cm 3 to 4 in off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centred Plug in the power cord in sert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Rear Roller Bolts Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened c If the walking belt still slows when walked on see the front cover of this manual PROBLEM The walking belt is off centre or slips when walked on SOLUTION a If the walking belt is off centre remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD If the walking belt has shifted to the left use the allen wrench to turn the left rear roller bolt clockwise 1 2 of a turn if the walking belt has shifted to the right turn the left rear roller bolt counterclockwise 1 2 of a turn Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt Plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is centred b If the walking belt slips when walked on first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the allen wrench turn both rear roller bolts clockwise 1 4 of a t
10. into an earthed cir cuit No other appliance should be on the same circuit When replacing the fuse an ASTA ap proved BS1362 type should be fitted to the fuse carrier A 13 amp fuse should be used If an extension cord is needed use only a 3 conductor 1mm 14 gauge cord that is no longer than 1 5 m 5 ft 12 Keep the power cord away from heated sur faces 13 Never move the walking belt while the power is turned off Do not operate the treadmill if the power cord or plug is damaged or if the treadmill is not working properly See TROU BLESHOOTING on page 26 if the treadmill is not working properly 14 Never start the treadmill while you are stand ing on the walking belt Always hold the handrails while using the treadmill 15 The treadmill is capable of high speeds Adjust the speed in small increments to avoid sudden jumps in speed 16 The pulse sensors are not medical devices Various factors including the user s move ment may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings The pulse sensors are intended only as an exercise aid in determining heart rate trends in general 17 Never leave the treadmill unattended while it is running Always remove the key unplug the power cord and switch the on off switch to the off position when the treadmill is not in use See the drawing on page 5 for the loca tion of the on off switch 18 Do not attempt to raise lower or move the treadmill until it is pr

12. 5 To use a heart rate program see page 16 To use an iFIT com MP3 CD or video program see page 20 To use an iFIT com program directly from our Web site see page 22 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER El Plug in the power cord see page 10 Locate the on off switch near the power cord Make sure that On the switch is in the on Position position Stand on the foot rails of the treadmill Find the clip attached to the key see the drawing on page 11 and attach the clip onto the waistband of your clothes Next insert the key into the console After a moment the display will light Test the clip by carefully taking a few steps backward until the key is pulled from the console If the key is not pulled from the console adjust the position of the clip as needed HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE 1 Insert the key into the console 4 See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER above 2 Select the manual mode When the key is in i E E serted the manual mode will Odometer Track be selected M If a program G has been selected reselect the manual mode by pressing the Programs button repeatedly until a track appears in the centre of the display Make sure that the word Programs does not appear below the track E Start the walking belt To start the walking belt press the Start button the Speed increase button or one of the ten 1 Step Speed buttons 12 If the Start button or the i Speed increas

A few minutes after the walking belt is stopped the fan will automatically turn off 14 When you are finished exercising remove the key Step onto the foot rails press the Stop button and adjust the incline of the treadmill to the lowest setting The incline must be at the lowest setting when the treadmill is folded to the storage posi tion or the treadmill will be damaged Next re move the key from the console and put it in a se cure place Note If the display remains lit after the key is removed the console is in the demo mode See page 23 and turn off the demo mode When you are finished using the treadmill switch the on off switch to the off position and unplug the power cord HOW TO USE A PRESET PROGRAM Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 12 Select one of the preset programs To select one of the Ze eight preset _ 2S5555 5 programs Odometer Programs press the UTA Programs HIS Lt button re i peatedly until the words Weight Loss Aerobic or Performance and the number 1 2 or 3 appear in the lower cen tre of the display As each preset program is selected the maximum speed setting of the program and the maximum incline setting of the program will flash in the dis play for a few seconds The display will then show how long the program will last A profile of the speed settings of the program will scroll across the matrix i

NFORMATION MODE DEMO MODE The console features an information mode that keeps track of the total number of hours that the treadmill has been operated and the total number of kilometres that the walking belt has moved The information mode also allows you to select kilometres or miles as the unit of measurement and to turn on and turn off the demo mode To select the information mode hold down the Stop button while inserting the key into the console When the information mode is selected the following informa tion will be shown in the display The upper left area of the dis play will show the total number of hours that the treadmill has been used The lower centre of the display will show the total number of kilometres that the walking belt has moved An M for metric kilometres or an E for English miles will appear in the upper right area of the display Press the Speed increase button to change the unit of measurement Hours a ILI I Kilometres IMPORTANT If a d appears in the upper centre of the display the console is in the demo mode This mode is intended to be used only when a treadmill is 23 displayed in a store When the console is in the demo mode the power cord can be plugged in the key can be removed from the console and the indicators in the display will automatically light in a preset sequence al though the buttons on the console will not operate If a d

To reduce the risk of burns fire electric shock or injury to persons read the following important precautions and information before operating the treadmill 1 10 11 It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that all users of this treadmill are adequately informed of all warnings and precautions Use the treadmill only as described Place the treadmill on a level surface with at least 2 5 m 8 ft of clearance behind it and 0 5 m 2 ft on each side Do not place the treadmill on any surface that blocks air open ings To protect the floor or carpet from dam age place a mat under the treadmill Keep the treadmill indoors away from mois ture and dust Do not put the treadmill in a garage or covered patio or near water Do not operate the treadmill where aerosol products are used or where oxygen is being administered Keep children under the age of 12 and pets away from the treadmill at all times The treadmill should not be used by persons weighing more than 135 kg 300 Ibs Never allow more than one person on the treadmill at a time Wear appropriate exercise clothes when using the treadmill Do not wear loose clothes that could become caught in the treadmill Athletic support clothes are recommended for both men and women A ways wear athletic shoes Never use the treadmill with bare feet wearing only stockings or in sandals When connecting the power cord see page 10 plug the power cord
18. ck lected the r centre of the display will show a 400 metre 1 4 mile track As you walk or run the indicators around the track will light in succession until the entire track is lit The track will then darken and the indicators will again begin to light in succession The lower right area of the display will show a training zone bar that in dicates the approximate intensity level of your ex ercise If five or six indi cators in the bar are lit for example the bar shows that your pace is ideal for aerobic exercise Training Zones Performance Endurance Aerobic Fat Burn Warm Up Cool Down The upper left area of the display will show the incline level of the tread mill the elapsed time and the approximate number of grams of carbs you have burned Note Each time the in cline changes the display will show the incline setting for a few seconds When a program is se lected the display will show the time remaining in the program instead of the elapsed time Incline a foi wl L The upper centre of the display will show the approximate number of calories you have burned The display will also show your heart rate when you use the handgrip pulse sensor or the chest pulse sensor 1 I l LI The upper right area of the display will show the speed of the walk ing belt and your pace pace is measured in minutes per kilometre Speed ori cys Note The console can display speed
19. cted the matrix in the centre of the display will show a moving graphic that represents your heart rate Each time a heartbeat is detected an additional peak will ap pear 16 DI Enter a maximum heart rate setting When a heart rate pro gram is selected the words Heart Rate will appear in the upper cen tre of the display and the target heart rate setting for the program will flash If desired press the Heart Rate increase and decrease buttons to ad just the target heart rate setting Note See the heart rate chart on page 29 for heart rate guidelines Heart Rate Ie I I I Press the Start button or the Speed increase button to start the program A moment after the button is pressed the tread mill will automatically adjust to the first speed and incline settings of the program Hold the handrails and begin walking Each heart rate program is divided into 20 one minute segments One target heart rate is pro grammed for each segment Note The same tar get heart rate setting may be programmed for two or more consecutive segments During each segment the console will regularly compare your heart rate to the current target heart rate If your heart rate is too far below or above the target heart rate the speed and or incline of the treadmill will automatically increase or de crease to bring your heart rate closer to the target heart rate During the last three seconds of each segment a series of
20. e Bar Assembly The connectors should slide to gether easily and snap into place If they do not turn one connector and try again Insert the wires into the crossbar Attach the Pulse Bar Assembly 65 to the crossbar on the Uprights 69 with four Pulse Bar Bolts 33 and four Star Washers 77 Start all four Pulse Bar Bolts and then tighten them Make sure that no wires are pinched 5 Have a second person hold the console assembly near the 5 Uprights 69 Connect the Upright Wire Harness 98 and the Pulse Wire 66 to the wires extending from the console Console assembly The connectors should slide together easily Assembly and snap into place If they do not turn one connector and try again Then insert the connectors into the console Ground assembly Wire Connect the Upright Ground Wire 11 to the ground wire extending from the console assembly Make sure that the wires are fully connected Then insert the ground wires into the console assembly 6 Set the console assembly on the Uprights 69 Make sure that no wires are pinched Finger tighten a Console Bolt 78 with a Star Washer 77 into the lower hole in each Upright only one side is shown Next finger tighten a Short Console Bolt 106 with a Star Washer 77 into the upper hole in each Upright 69 only one side is shown Be careful not to drop the Short Console Bolts into the Uprights Firmly tighten the two Console Bolts 78

47. urn When the walking belt is correctly tight ened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 7 to 10 cm 3 to 4 in off the walking plat form Be careful to keep the walking belt centred Plug in the power cord insert the key and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened 27 PROBLEM The chest pulse sensor does not function properly SOLUTION a If the chest pulse sensor does not function properly see CHEST PULSE SENSOR TROUBLE SHOOTING on page 9 b If the chest pulse sensor still does not function properly the battery b should be changed To replace the battery first locate the battery Battery Cover cover on the back of the sensor unit Insert a coin into the slot in the cover and turn the cover counterclockwise to the open position Then remove the cover Next remove the old battery from the sensor unit and insert a new CR 2032 battery with the battery oriented so the writing on top GS Battery STF Make sure that the rubber gasket is in place in the sensor unit Then 7 Cover I I Battery Rubber reinsert the battery cover and turn it to the closed position PROBLEM The shock does not assist the lowering of the treadmill frame SOLUTION a Environmental factors such as cold temperatures can affect the performance of the shock To re store shock performance hold the ends of the frame near the endcaps firmly with both hand
