Deep cycle batteries are designed to handle a longer and deeper discharge Though they are similar in appearance to automotive batteries they are not interchangeable Automotive batteries are not designed to handle a long deep discharge and also are unsafe for use in power chairs Lead MANDATORY Battery posts terminals and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds Wear goggles and gloves when handling batteries and wash hands after handling WARNING Always use two batteries of the exact same type chemistry and amp hour ma i Ah capacity Refer to specifications table in this manual and in the manual supplied with the battery charger for recommended type and capacities J N WARNING Contact your authorised Pride Dealer if you have any questions regarding 4 N the batteries in your power chair Charging the Batteries The battery charger 15 essential in providing long life for your power chair batteries It is designed to optimise your power chair s performance by charging the batteries safely quickly and easily The battery charger is only functional when the battery charger lead is plugged into an electrical outlet A PROHIBITED Removal of grounding prong can create electrical hazard If necessary properly install an approved 3 pronged adapter to an electrical outlet having 2 pronged plug access Eme ps amp EN PROHIBITED Never use an extension lead to plug in your battery charger

Hipupthe seat latch safety 2 Squeezethe seat latch together See figure 12 3 Pullthe front of the seat up 4 Slide seat forward and off of the power base Power Base Disassembly The Jazzy 1107 power base disassembles into six parts for easy transportation and storage See figure 13 To disassemble the power base Turn off the power to the controller Disconnect the controller from the power base See figure 6 Remove the seat Press the foot platform release button and lift off the foot platform See figure 13 Flip down the battery box latches on each side of the power base See figure 14 Slide the battery boxes back and off of the power base Flip up the centre section latch See figure 14 Rotate the centre section forward Grabaside section by the side frame handle 10 Lift the side section up and off of the centre section 11 Grab the other side section by the side frame handle 12 Lift the side section up and off of the centre section 90 NOTE Perform the disassembly steps in reverse order to assemble the power chair NOTE During assembly make sure the battery box latches are in the up locked position and the centre section latch is in the down locked position FRONT BATTERY BOX RIGHT FRAME SECTION FOOT PLATFORM Figure 13 Power Base Components Jazzy 1107 www pridemobility com 23 gt m Lu n n lt n gt m Lu n n lt

IV Jazzy 1107 BATTERY BOX LATCH www pridemobility com BATTERY BOX LATCH UNLOCKED Figure 14 Battery Box Removal and Frame Separation CENTRE SECTION LATCH 24 V COMFORT ADJUSTMENTS COMFORT ADJ USTMENTS After becoming familiar with your power chair s operation you may find the need to make some adjustments to increase your comfort These adjustments include seat height and angle armrest angle foot platform height and angle and controller position NOTE If your power chair is equipped with a Specialty Seat or a Synergy Seat refer to the information provided in separate manuals If your power chair is equipped with a contoured seat refer to the following information WARNING If your power chair was configured by your authorised Pride Dealer please consult your healthcare professional before changing the seat position or making any other adjustment Some adjustments may degrade your power chair s performance and safety by changing its centre of gravity N WARNING Some power chair components are heavy You may need assistance to lift or carry them Please refer to the specifications table for specific component weights before you disassemble the power chair WARNING Remove the occupant from the power chair before making any adjustments FRONT SEAT INTERFACE You may need the following to make comfort adjustments metric standard socket set and ratchet E adjustable spanner SEAT POST B

To replace the batteries Turnoffthe powerto the controller 2 Make sure that the power chair is in drive mode See III Your Power Chair 3 Remove the battery boxes See IV Assembly Disas sembly Disconnect the wiring harness from the batteries Remove the batteries from the battery boxes Place new batteries in the battery boxes See figure 28 Reconnect the battery harnesses according to the bat tery wiring diagram label See figure 29 WARNING Make sure you tighten the 4 fasteners so that the connections are secure S DAN AGE 8 Reinstall the battery boxes onto the power base Make sure that the battery box latches are in the up locked position 9 Charge the batteries See VI Batteries and Charging When to See Your Authorised Pride Dealer for Service The following symptoms could indicate a serious problem with your power chair If necessary contact your authorised Pride Dealer When calling have the model number serial number nature of the problem and the error code if available Motor noise Frayed harnesses Cracked or broken connectors Uneven wear on any of the tyres Jerky motion Pulling to one side Bent or broken wheel assemblies Does not power up Powers up but does not move Corrective Maintenance If the battery condition meter does not light up when you turn on the power Check the harness connections Make sure they are tight Check the circuit breake
6. areas A covered with snow ice cut grass or wet leaves 2 WARNING Never travel down an incline rearward Doing so may cause the power chair to tip Always exercise extreme caution when negotiating an incline WARNING If your power chair is equipped with a reclining seatback do not attempt to negotiate inclines with the seat in a reclined position Do not attempt to negotiate obstacles with the seat in a reclined position unless an attendant is present to help stabilise the chair Failure to heed could result in the power chair tipping over 10 www pridemobility com Jazzy 1107 SAFET Y in figure 1 do not under any circumstances exceed the incline guidelines or any other specifications presented in this manual Doing so could cause instability in your power chair A WARNING Even though your power chairis capable of climbing slopes greater than those illustrated Pride recommends that the maximum slope of an incline you attempt to safely ascend or descend on your power chair does not exceed 8 7 5 See figure 1 N WARNING Any attempt to climb or descend a slope steeper than 8 7 5 may put your power W chair in an unstable position and cause it to tip Figure 1 Maximum Safe Slope Ascending and Descending Freewheel Mode Your power chair is equipped with two manual freewheel levers to allow for manual manoeuvrability by a trained attendant For more information about how to place your power c

Plug the charger directly into a properly wired standard electrical outlet are charging Pride recommends that you do not charge the batteries while the power chair is occupied ey 5 PROHIBITED Do not allow unsupervised children to play near the power chair while the batteries Ve N MANDATORY Read the battery charging instructions in this manual and in the manual supplied Uy with the battery charger before charging the batteries WARNING Explosive gases may be generated while charging the batteries Keep the power chair and battery charger away from sources of ignition such as flames or sparks and provide adequate ventilation when charging the batteries WARNING You must recharge your power chair s batteries with the supplied off board charger Do not use an automotive type battery charger WARNING Inspectthe battery charger wiring and connectors for damage before each use Contact A your authorised Pride Dealer if damage is found CS WARNING Do not attempt to open the battery charger case If the battery charger does not appear to be working correctly contact your authorised Pride Dealer WARNING If the battery charger is equipped with cooling slots then do not attempt to insert objects through these slots WARNING If your battery charger has not been tested and approved for outdoor use then do not expose it to adverse or extreme weather conditions If the battery charger 15 exposed to adverse 1 Orextreme

You can change each armrest s width independently of the other NOTE Changing the armrest width may increase the overall width of your power chair To change the armrest width 1 Locate the armrest knob on each side of the armrest receiver bracket See figure 18 2 Loosen the knobs 3 Slide the armrests in or out to the desired width 4 Tighten the knobs Figure 19 Underside of Armrest Armrest Angle Adjustment To change the armrest angle 1 Lift the armrest straight up so that it is perpendicular to the floor See figure 18 2 Loosenthe locking nut 3 Turn adjusting screw to raise or lower the front of the armrest 4 Tighten the locking nut to lock the armrest angle adjusting screw into place Controller Position You can position the controller for either left hand or right hand use y WARNING Do not place the controller harness so that it can be pinched in the seat frame or the gt power base frame To extend the controller 1 Flip up armrest so it is perpendicular to the floor 2 Loosen the setscrew on the controller bracket See figure 19 3 Slide the controller into or out of the armrest to the desired position 4 Tighten the setscrew to secure the controller To change the controller position Turn off the power to the controller Disconnect the controller from the power base Cut the wire tie s that attaches the controller cable to the armrest Flip up the armrest
9. apply a light coat of car wax to help it retain its high gloss appearance Check all electrical connections Make sure they are tight and are not corroded Batteries must sit flat within the battery well with the battery terminals facing inward toward each other Refer to the frame decal for the correct wiring layout lt lt N WARNING Even though the power chair has passed the necessary testing requirements for ingress of liquids you should keep electrical connections away from sources of dampness including direct exposure water or bodily fluids and incontinence Check electrical components frequently for signs of corrosion and replace as necessary Daily Checks B With the controller turned off check the joystick Make sure it is not bent or damaged and that it returns to the neutral position when you release it Check the rubber boot around the base of the joystick for damage Visually inspect the boot Do not handle or try to repair it See your authorised Pride Dealer if there is a problem Visually inspect the controller cable Make sure that it is not frayed cut or has any wires exposed See your authorised Pride Dealer if there is a problem Check for flat spots on solid tyres Flat spots could adversely affect stability E Inspect the armrests for loose hardware stress points or damage See your authorised Pride Dealer if there is a problem Weekly Checks Disconnect and inspect the controller batte
10. in your power chair although the power chair has passed the necessary testing requirements for cigarette Ip smoking You must adhere to the following safety guidelines if you decide to smoke cigarettes N while seated in your power chair y m Do not leave lit cigarettes unattended WB Keep ashtrays a safe distance from the seat cushions WB Always make sure cigarettes are completely extinguished before disposal Electromagnetic and Radio Frequency Interference EMI RFI WARNING Laboratory tests have shown that electromagnetic and radio frequency waves 4 have an adverse affect the performance of electrically powered mobility vehicles Electromagnetic and Radio Frequency Interference can come from sources such as cellular phones mobile two way radios such as walkie talkies radio stations TV stations amateur radio HAM transmitters wireless computer links microwave signals paging transmitters and medium range mobile transceivers used by emergency vehicles In some cases these waves can cause unintended movement or damage to the control system Every electrically powered mobility vehicle has an immunity or resistance to EMI The higher the immunity level the greater the protection against EMI This product has been tested and has passed at an immunity level of 20 V m WARNING Be aware that cell phones two way radios laptops and other types of radio transmitters may cause unintended movement of your electrically
11. most electrical equipment is susceptible to damage from the elements Avoid damp areas of any kind malfunction electronically and mechanically Water can cause electrical components to corrode and the chair s frame to rust Power chairs should be examined periodically for signs of corrosion AN caused by water exposure bodily fluids exposure or incontinence Damaged components should replaced or treated immediately WARNING Direct or prolonged exposure to water or dampness could cause the power chair to GS IN 2 Should your power chair come in contact with water 1 Dry your power chair as thoroughly as possible with a towel 2 Allow your power chair to sit in a warm dry place for 12 hours to allow unseen water to evaporate 3 Checkthe joystick operation and the brakes before using your power chair again 4 Ifany inconsistencies are found take your power chair to your authorised Pride Dealer Power chairs that are fre quently exposed to sources of water such as incontinence should be inspected often for corrosion and electronic components may need to be replaced frequently Temperature B Some of the parts of your power chair are susceptible to extreme changes in temperature Always keep your power chair between the temperatures of 8 C 18 F and 50 C 122 B Inextremely cold temperatures the batteries may freeze The specific temperature at which they freeze depends on a number of factors such as batte
12. power chair to tip Figure 2 Correct Kerb Approach Figure 3 Incorrect Kerb Approach 12 www pridemobility com Jazzy 1107 II SAFETY Stairs and Escalators Power chairs are not designed to travel up or down stairs or escalators Always use a lift JX A WARNING Never use your power chair to negotiate steps or escalators i Doors E Determine if the door opens toward or away from you Drive your power chair gently and slowly forward to push the door open or drive your power chair gently and slowly rearward to pull the door open Lifts Modern lifts have a door edge safety mechanism that when pushed reopens the lift door s Ifyou are in the doorway of a lift when the door s begin to close push on the rubber door edge or allow the rubber door edge to contact the power chair and the door will reopen B Use care that handbags packages or power chair accessories do not become caught in lift doors Lift Elevation Products If you will be traveling with your power chair you may find it necessary to use a lift elevation product to aid in transporta tion Pride recommends that you closely review the instructions specifications and safety information set forth by the manufacturer of the lift elevation product before using that product WARNING Never sit on your power chair when it is being used in connection with any type of lift elevation product Your power chair was designed with such use mind NA an
13. powered mobility vehicle due to EMI Exercise caution when using any of these items while operating your mobility vehicle and avoid coming into close proximity of radio and TV stations WARNING The addition of accessories or components to the electrically powered mobility vehicle can increase the susceptibility of the vehicle to EMI Do not modify your power chair in any way not authorised by Pride WARNING The electrically powered mobility vehicle itself can disturb the performance of other electrical devices located nearby such as alarm systems NOTE For further information on EMI RFI go to the Resource Center on www pridemobility com If unintended motion or brake release occurs turn your power chair off as soon as it is safe to do so Contact your authorised Pride Dealer to report the incident ia s R IUI O T a s 16 www pridemobility com Jazzy 1107 IlI YOUR POWER CHAIR THE AZZY 1107 The Jazzy has two main assemblies the seat assembly and the power base assembly See figure 5 Typically the seat assembly includes the armrests seatback and seat base The power base assembly includes two motor brake assemblies two drive wheels two anti tip wheels two castor wheels two battery boxes and wiring harnesses See figures 5 6 and 7 o SEATBACK ARMRESTS JOYSTICK SEAT ASSEMBLY CONTROLLER SEAT BASE SEATBACK RELEASE LEVER FOOT RIGGING FOOT PLATFORM SHOWN POWER BASE ASSEMBLY I d m CA
14. require a positioning belt to safely operate your power chair make sure it is fastened securely in order to reduce the possibility of a fall from the power chair WARNING The positioning belt is not designed for use as a seat belt in a motor vehicle Jazzy 1107 www pridemobility com 13 IUS SAFETY Batteries In addition to following the warnings below be sure to comply with all other battery handling information For more information about your power chair s batteries see VI Batteries and Charging Lead WARNING Battery posts terminals and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds Wear goggles and gloves when handling batteries and wash hands after handling WARNING Power chair batteries are heavy See specifications table If you are unable to lift that much weight be sure to get help Use proper lifting techniques and avoid lifting beyond your capacity WARNING Always protect the batteries from freezing and never charge a frozen battery Charging a frozen battery may result in damage to the battery WARNING Connect your battery harnesses in the proper manner RED cables must be connected to positive 4 battery terminals posts BLACK cables must be connected to negative battery terminals posts Protective caps should be installed over all battery terminals REPLACE cables immediately if damaged Removable Parts P WARNING Do not attempt to lift or move a power chair b
15. weather conditions then it must be allowed to adjust to the difference in environmental 5 conditions before use indoors Refer to the manual supplied with the battery charger for more VJ information N gt Jazzy 1107 www pridemobility com 31 VI BATTERIES AND CHARGING To charge the batteries using the off board charger 1 Position your power chair next to a standard electrical outlet 2 Becertain the controller power is turned off 3 Plug off board charger into the off board charger programming socket on the controller 4 Plug the off board charger into the electrical outlet NOTE If it is a Pride off board charger then there are two lights in it The red light indicates that power to the off board charger is on The green light indicates that the batteries are fully charged If it is not a Pride off board charger then follow the instructions supplied by the manufacturer 5 When the batteries are fully charged unplug the off board charger from the electrical outlet and then from the controller OFF BOARD CHARGER PORT NOTE You can remove both battery boxes from the power base and charge them using the off board charger port located on the front battery box The battery boxes must be connected in order to charge them See figure 25 Figure 25 Battery Boxes Removed from Power Base Battery Break in To break in new batteries for maximum efficiency 1 Fully recharge any new battery prior to it
16. weight capacity of your power chair Exceeding the weight capacity voids your warranty Pride will not be held responsible for injuries and or property damage resulting from failure to observe weight limitations N WARNING Do not carry passengers on your power chair Carrying passengers on your power chair may affect the centre of gravity resulting in a tip or a fall Tyre Inflation If your power chair is equipped with pneumatic tyres you should check or have the air pressure checked regularly Proper inflation pressures will prolong the life of your tyres and help ensure the smooth operation of your power chair WARNING It is important that 2 4 bar 35 psi tyre pressure be maintained in pneumatic tyres at all times Do not underinflate or overinflate your tyres Low pressure may result in loss of control and overinflated tyres may burst Failure to maintain 2 4 bar 35 psi tyre pressure in pneumatic A tyres at all times may result in tyre and or wheel failure WARNING Inflate your power chair drive tyres from a regulated air source with an available pressure gauge Inflating yourtyres from an unregulated air source could overinflate them resulting in a burst tyre Incline Information More and more buildings have ramps with specified degrees of inclination designed for easy and safe access Some ramps may have turning switchbacks 180 degree turns that require you to have good cornering skills on your power chair E Proce
17. your power chair to inclement weather conditions should be avoided whenever possible If suddenly caught up in rain snow severe cold or heat while operating your power chair proceed to shelter at the earliest opportunity Thoroughly dry your power chair before storing charging or operating your power chair KEN PROHIBITED Operating in rain snow salt mist spray conditions and on icy slippery surfaces can have an adverse affect the electrical system Maintain and store your power chair in dry and Wee clean condition A WARNING Prolonged exposure to hot or cold conditions may affect the temperature of upholstered and non upholstered items the power chair possibly resulting in skin irritation Exercise caution when using the power chair in extremely hot or cold conditions when exposing your power chair to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time Stationary Obstacles Steps Kerbs etc Proceed with extreme caution when driving near raised surfaces unprotected ledges and or drop offs kerbs porches stairs etc Be sure your power chair is traveling perpendicular to any kerb you may be required to navigate See figure 2 WARNING Do not attempt to have your power chair climb or descend an obstacle that is higher A than 5 cm 2 in unless you have the assistance of an attendant V WARNING Do not attempt to have your power chair proceed rearward down any step kerb or other obstacle This may cause the

I thread lock Seat Height and Seat Angle Adjustment You can change the seat height to one of two positions in 2 5 cm 1 in increments by raising the front seat interface and side frame handles See figures 15 and 16 If you raise or lower only the front seat interface or the side frame handles you can also change the seat base angle dump To change the seat height 1 Turn off the power to the controller 2 Disconnect the controller from the power base See figure 6 3 Remove the seat from the power base 4 Loosen the screws that attach the side frame handles and front seat interface to the seat posts See figures 15 and 16 5 Remove the retaining clips that secure the seat posts to the power base 6 Move the seat posts up or down to the desired height 7 Reinstall the retaining clips 8 Remove each screw from the side frame handles and front seat interface and apply thread lock 9 Reinstall each screw and tighten 10 Reinstall the seat 11 Reconnect the controller to the power base OW oe DDR Figure 16 Side Frame Handles Height Adjustment Jazzy 1107 www pridemobility com 25 V COMFORT ADJUSTMENTS Seat Position Adjustment You can move the seat forward or rearward by changing the extrusion mounting position To change the position 1 Turn off the power to the controller 2 Unplug the controller from the power base 3 Remove the seat from the power base 4 Remove both extru

STOR WHEEL DRIVE WHEEL WHEELS Figure 5 The Jazzy 1107 Jazzy 1107 www pridemobility com 17 lll YOUR POWER CHAIR FRONT TRAPEZE BAR CONTROLLER CONNECTOR re MANUAL FREEWHEEL LEVER MOTOR BRAKE ASSEMBLY AY P1 774 WS LSS Figure 6 The Jazzy 1107 Power Base Electrical Components The electrical components consist of the controller assembly the batteries and the motors The batteries motors and controller power module are located on the power base assembly See figures 6 and 7 The controller is located on the seat assembly Connectivity between the controller and the motors the batteries and the battery charger is provided by one or more wiring harnesses Controller Harness Connector The controller harness connector is where the controller plugs into the power base Each controller uses a different type of harness If the controller has a power module in the power base the connector is a small communications type connector If the controller is integrated then the harness has a large 9 pin connector Regardless of which type of controller is used the harness must be secured to the seat assembly and not allowed to drag on the floor Battery Harness Connector This is where the controller connects to the battery boxes Jaa n Kc X wi c J rE 18

Such use may cause the power chair to tip User Positioning Pride recommends that all users be seated in an upright position with their pelvis positioned as far rearward as possible in the power chair seat users need to discuss pelvic positioning with their authorised Pride Dealer therapist s or healthcare profes sional to determine appropriate pelvic position when seated on the power chair based on the user s individual medical needs Prescription Drugs Physical Limitations Users must exercise care and common sense when operating a power chair This includes awareness of safety issues when taking prescribed or over the counter drugs or when the user has specific physical limitations WARNING Consult your physician if you are taking prescribed or over the counter medication or if you have certain physical limitations Some medications and limitations may impair your ability 4 to operate your power chair in a safe manner Alcohol Smoking The power chair user must exercise care and common sense when operating his her power chair This includes awareness of safety issues while under the influence of alcohol or while smoking WARNING Do not operate your power chair while you are under the influence of alcohol as this may impair your ability to operate your power chair a safe manner Jazzy 1107 www pridemobility com 15 WARNING Pride strongly recommends that you do not smoke cigarettes while seated
22. able you to disengage the drive motors from the gearboxes and manoeuvre the chair manually WARNING Do not use the power chair while the drive motors are disengaged Do not disengage the drive motors when the power chair is on an incline or decline as the unit could roll on its own Only engage the freewheel mode when on a level surface IN WARNING It is important to remember that when your power chair is in freewheel mode the braking system is disengaged To engage or disengage the drive motors 1 Locate the lever top of each motor 2 Pull the two levers upward to engage the drive motors drive mode See figure 8 3 Pushthetwo levers downward to disengage the drive motors freewheel mode See figure 9 If a lever is difficult to move in either direction slightly rock the power chair back and forth The lever should then move to the desired position N A WARNING Do not use freewheel lever handles as tie down points to secure this product MANUAL FREEWHEEL LEVER Figure 8 Drive Mode Drive Engaged Figure 9 Freewheel Mode Drive Disengaged 20 www pridemobility com Jazzy 1107 IV ASSEMBLY DISASSEMBLY INITIAL ASSEMBLY Your power chair may require some assembly either before initial use or after transportation It may also require disassem bly to make some comfort adjustments Figure 10 details those parts of the power chair that are designed to be disas sembled and assembled
