1. 3 SYMPTOM THE DSPLAYS OF THE CONSOLE DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY a Check th ebatteries in the console See BATTERY INSTALLATION on page 8 Most problems are the re sult of drained batteries 4 SYMPTOM THE WALKING BELT SLOWS WHEN WALKED ON a If an extension cord is needed use only a 14 gauge cord of 5 feet 1 50 m or less in length b If the walking belt still slows when walked on please call our Customer Service Department 5 SYMPTOM THE WALKING BELT IS OFF CENTRE WHEN WALKED ON a If the walking belt has shifted to the left first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the allen wrench turn the left rear roller adjustment bolt clockwise 1 4 of a turn Plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few min utes Repeat until the walking belt is centred ASSEMBLY Assembly requires two people Set the treadmill in a cleared area and remove the packing materials Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed Assembly requires the included allen wr ench a phillips screwdriver _ and scissors om not included 1 Attach six Base Pads 43 to the Base 86 and the Base Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand Hold the treadmill firmly with both hands and lower the Refer to the drawing on page 4 and identify the right side of the treadmill With the help of a second person carefully lay the treadmill on its right si

Bracket Screws 126 from the right side of the Frame 83 Position the right Handrail Bracket 42 over the four screw holes in the Frame Loosely thread two of the Screws into the back holes of the Bracket and into the Frame as shown HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL Before moving the treadmill convert the treadmill to the stor age position as described above Make sure that the stor Repeat this step on the left side of the Frame 83 age latch is closed fully over the frame guide 1 Hold the upper ends of the treadmill Place one foot on the base as shown 2 Tilt the treadmill back until it rolls freely on the front wheels Carefully move the treadmill to the desired location Never move the treadmill without tipping it back or the base pads may come off To reduce the risk of injury use extreme caution while moving the treadmill Do not at tempt to move the treadmill over an uneven surface 7 Locate the section HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE on page 10 Follow the instructions to fold the treadmill Thread two more Handrail Bracket Screws 126 into the right Handrail Bracket 42 and Frame 83 Firmly tighten all four Screws in the Bracket Thread two more Screws into the left Handrail Bracket and Frame not shown Firmly tighten all four Screws in the Bracket 3 Place one foot on the base and carefully lower the tread mill until it is resting in the storage position HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR

USE 1 Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand as shown Using your left thumb slide open the storage latch and hold it open Pivot the treadmill until the frame is past the storage latch Storage Latch 8 Remove the backing from the Adhesive Clip 90 Press the Clip onto the Base 86 in the indicated location Press the Allen Wrench 89 into the Clip 2 Hold the treadmill firmly with both hands and lower the treadmill to the floor Caution To avoid pinching your hands do not hold the treadmill in the locations indi cated by the arrows To decrease the possibility of in jury bend your legs and keep your back straight 9 Make sure that all parts are tightened before you use the treadmill Note To protect the floor or carpet place a mat under the treadmill For information on ordering a mat see REPLACEMENT PARTS on the back cover 11 Change the incline of the treadmill if desired When you are finished exercising stop the 6 7 walking belt and remove the key OPERATION AN D ADJ USTM ENT To increase or decrease POWER INCLINE the incline hold down the top or bottom of the incline button Important Do not E Step onto the foot rails THE PERFORMANT LUBE WALKING BELT stop the walking belt and remove the key from the console Store the key in a secure place Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with PERFORMANT LUBE a high
5. performance lubricant IMPOR TANT Never apply silicone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform They will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear change the incline of the treadmill by placing ob jects under the treadmill Change the incline only as described above HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD Note Any time that the walking belt is stopped and no console buttons are pressed for five min This product must be earthed If it should malfunction or break IMPORTANT Before folding the treadmill ad utes the displays will automatically turn off down earthing provides a path of least resistance for electric cur just the incline to the lowest position rent to reduce the risk of electric shock This product is equipped with a cord having an equipment earthing conductor and a earth ing plug Plug one end of the cord into the treadmill Plug the power cord into an appropriate outlet that is properly in stalled and earthed in accordance with all local codes and ordinances A DANGER Improper connection of the equipment earthing conductor can result in an in creased risk of electric shock Check with a qualified electrician or serviceman if you are in doubt as to whether the product is properly earthed Do not mod ify the plug provided with the product if it will not fit the outlet have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREA
6. rate and circulation in prepa ration for strenuous exercise Training Zone Exercise After warming up increase the intensity of your exer cise until your heart rate is in your training zone for 20 to 60 minutes During the first few weeks of your exer cise program do not keep your heart rate in your train ing zone for longer than 20 minutes Breathe regularly and deeply as you exercise never hold your breath move the motor hood unless instructed to do so by an authorised service representative Servicing other than the procedures in this manual should be performed by an autho rised service representative only 15 Never start the treadmill whilst you are stand ing on the walking belt Always hold the handrails whilst using the treadmill 16 The treadmill is capable of high speeds Adjust the speed in small increments to avoid sudden jumps in speed 17 To reduce the possibility of the treadmill over heating do not operate the treadmill continu ously for longer than 1 hour 18 Never leave the treadmill unattended whilst it is running Always remove the key when the treadmill is not in use 19 Inspect and tighten all parts of the treadmill every three months 20 Never insert any object into any opening 21 Do not attempt to raise lower or move the treadmill until it is properly assembled See ASSEMBLY on pages 5 and 6 and HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL on page 11 You must be able to safely lift 45 Ibs

ON THE FLOOR a Make sure that the six base pads are attached to the treadmill see assembly step 2 on page 5 13 12 TROUBLE SHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below Find the symptom that applies and follow the steps listed If further assistance is needed please call our Customer Service Department 1 SYMPTOM THE POWER DOES NOT TURN ON a Make sure that the power cord is plugged into a properly earthed outlet See HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD on page 7 If an extension cord is needed use only a 14 gauge cord of five feet 1 50 m or less in length b After the power cord has been plugged in make sure that the key is fully inserted into the console See step 1 on page 9 c Check the circuit breaker located on the treadmill near the power cord If the switch protrudes as shown the circuit breaker has tripped To reset the circuit breaker wait for five minutes and then press the switch back in Cc Tripped M Reset 2 SYMPTOM THE POWER TURNS OFF DURING USE a Check the circuit breaker located on the treadmill frame near the power cord see 1 c above If the circuit breaker has tripped wait for five minutes and then press the switch back in b Make sure that the power cord is plugged in c Remove the key from the console Reinsert the key fully into the console See step 1 on page 9 d If the treadmill still will not run please call our Customer Service Department

14. d of the walking belt BSE SPEED CALORIES FAT CAL ORIES PULSE display This display shows the approximate numbers of calories and fat calories you have burned See FAT BURNING on page 14 for an explanation of fat calories Every seven seconds the display will change from one number to the other The FAT CALS indicator will light when the number of fat calories is displayed Note This display will also show your pulse when the pulse sensor is used The displays can be reset if desired by pressing the C ON RESET button ON RESET CALS FAT CALS PULSE Measure your pulse if desired To use the pulse sensor stand on the foot rails and place your thumb on the pulse sensor as shown The pulse sensor is pressure activated fully press down the pulse sensor Do not press too hard or the circula tion in your thumb will be re stricted and your pulse will not be detected Next slightly raise your thumb until the heart shaped indicator by the CALORIES FAT CALORIES PULSE display flashes steadily Hold your thumb at this level After 5 to 10 seconds your pulse will be shown Hold your thumb on the sensor Indicateur for another 15 seconds for the most accurate reading If the displayed pulse appears to be too high or too low or if your pulse is not displayed lift your thumb off the sensor and allow the display to reset Press down again on the sensor as described above QALS FAT CALS

19. ill help you to plan your ex ercise program Remember these are general guide lines only For more detailed exercise information ob tain a reputable book or consult your physician EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system the key to achieving the desired results is to exercise with the proper intensity The proper intensity level can be found by using your heart rate as a guide The chart below shows recommended heart rates for fat burning and aerobic exercise AEROBIC MAX FAT FAT BURN HEART RATE TRAINING ZONES To find the proper heart rate for you first find your age at the top of the chart ages are rounded off to the nearest ten years Next find the three numbers below your age The three numbers are your training zone The lower two numbers are recommended heart rates for fat burning the higher number is the recommended heart rate for aerobic exercise Fat Burning To burn fat effectively you must exercise at a relatively low intensity level for a sustained period of time During the first few minutes of exercise your body uses easily accessible carbohydrate calories for energy Only after the first few minutes does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy If your goal is to burn fat adjust the speed and incline of the treadmill until your heart rate is near one of the lower two numbers in your training zone It may also be helpful to se
