1. HOWTO LEARN IN THE ALARM CONTROL UNITTO A WIRELESS NETWORK 1 Using a ballpoint pen briefly push and release the learn button on the back of the control unit The red LED next to the learn button will flash briefly then light up for approximately 5 seconds During these 5 seconds you need to briefly press the test button on an alarm already in the network to wirelessly interlink the two The alarm will give an audible sound consisting of two cycles of three loud beeps The red LED on the back of the control unit will flash to indicate that it has been learned in successfully If the test button is not pressed quickly enough the learn in process will fail If this happens repeat the process 4 To complete the installation simply slide the control unit onto the bracket until it clicks into place The control unit is now part of the whole network The method above assumes you have already installed your alarm network prior to installing your Alarm Control Unit If you want to install your Alarm Control Unit first you can learn your smoke heat and CO alarm into it by following the instructions in your alarm manual using the Alarm Control Unit as alarm 1 and holding the Test button of the Alarm Control Unit for at least 2 seconds MAKING THE ALARM CONTROL UNIT TAMPER PROOF Do not complete this action until you have wirelessly interlinked all of your alarms The Alarm

Control Unit is provided with an anti tamper feature ensuring where needed it cannot be removed from the wall To make use of this feature you will need to tap out the two blanking plates on the top right hand side of the bracket using a small screwdriver being careful to support the bracket fully whilst doing so Once the rest of the installation is complete and the control unit is fixed to the bracket it can only be removed using the following method Insert a small screwdriver into the hole on the top right hand corner of the control unit until it stops this will disengage the lock then gently ease the control unit up to release it from the USER GUIDE TESTING THE ALARM SYSTEM Press the Test Silence s button to confirm that the control unit is operating properly This will instigate a three minute test All networked alarms should sound To stop the test earlier than 3 minutes simply press the Test Silence tst button again This test should be performed on a weekly basis PRODUCT FUNCTIONALITY Function Description Test Silence button Test button This allows you to test all wirelessly interlinked alarms from one centralised location Silence button This will silence all wirelessly interlinked smoke and heat alarms and reduce the system sensitivity for up to 10 minutes Locate button This will silence all wirelessly interlinked alarms

6. fly push and release and then push and hold the learn in button The red LED will remain illuminated during this process When the red LED goes out release the button it will then flash twice followed by three further flashes to illustrate that the alarm has successfully been un learnt from the network 2a Once the faulty unit has been un learnt the Alarm Control Unit will continue to flash for up to 24 hours After which the flash pattern will change to a triple flash at this point follow the process described in 2a Deleting a Faulty Alarm from the Alarm Control Unit s Memory Identifying an Alarm in the Network which has Lost Communication with the Alarm Control Unit If the amber fault LED is triple flashing every second this shows that an alarm on the network has lost communication with the Alarm Control Unit To identify the alarm in question press the TEST button on the Alarm Control Unit All alarms in the network will sound a test pattern except the alarm which has lost communication If this fault cannot be resolved you will need to delete the alarm from the Alarm Control Unit s memory see 2a below Deleting a Faulty Alarm from the Alarm Control Unit s Memory To delete the alarm from the Alarm Control Unit s memory simply press and hold the Locate button for 5 seconds The Alarm Control Unit will stop flashing and the faulty alarm will be deleted from the memory It will take the Alarm Control Unit 2 minutes to reco
7. ion Activating the Alarm Control Unit Unable to remove the control unit from its bracket You need to disengage the locking pins Refer to the Making the Alarm Control UnitTamper proof section 20 MAINTENANCE This Alarm Control Unit will act as a remote interface between the alarms in your home when maintained properly To ensure the reliability of the control unit Keep the control unit free from dust by gently vacuuming the case with a soft brush attachment every 3 months Never use cleaning solutions on the control unit Simply wipe with a damp cloth Do not paint the control unit Do not spray aerosols on or near the control unit Do not use any solvent based products near the control unit Do not attempt to repair the control unit Do not attempt to change the battery Do not remove any screws or open the main casing of the control unit Any attempt to do so may cause malfunction and will invalidate the warranty 21 DISPOSAL Waste electrical products should not be disposed of with your other household waste The Alarm Control Unit is ideally suited for disposal within the waste electronic and electrical equipment WEEE recycling scheme Please recycle where facilities exist Check with your local authority retailer or contact ourTechnical Support team for recycling disposal advice as regional variations apply WARNING Do not burn or dispose of in fire WARNING If your Alarm C

11. s Please Note An alarm cannot be silenced using the Alarm Control Unit if carbon monoxide has been detected however the Locate function will allow you to find out which of the CO alarms is the initiating alarm ALARM MEMORY If one of the alarm indicators is flashing every 10 seconds this indicates that a smoke alarm heat alarm or carbon monoxide alarm has previously been activated Pressing the Locate button Q will sound the source alarm so you can investigate this further The LED will continue to 14 flash for 10 minutes after the Locate button Q is pressed for the first time allowing you to press the button repeatedly until the source alarm is identified After 10 minutes the flashing LED s will clear fully compatible with the SONA Wi Safe 2 smoke heat and CO alarms FAULT DETECTION 1a Identifying a Faulty Alarm in the Network If the amber fault LED and a red alarm LED are flashing this indicates that an alarm on the network has developed a fault To identify the faulty alarm press the Locate button and the alarm in fault will sound an SOS sound pattern If the fault can t be rectified you must un learn it from the network see 1a below Removing a Faulty Alarm from the Network To remove a faulty alarm from the network you will need to perform a button press sequence consisting of a short press followed by a long press Using a ball point pen in the circular learn in hole in the back of the alarm brie
