PROFESSIONAL Operating and installation instructions for washer extractor PW 6065 To avoid the risk of accidents or damage to the machine it is essential to read these instructions before it is installed and used for the first time M Nr 06 872 220 Caring for the environment Disposing of the packing material The transport and protective packing has been selected from materials which are environmentally friendly for disposal and can normally be recycled Ensure that any plastic wrappings bags etc are disposed of safely and kept out of the reach of babies and young children Danger of suffocation Rather than just throwing these materials away please ensure that they are offered for recycling Disposal of your old machine Electrical and electronic machines often contain materials which if handled or disposed of incorrectly could be potentially hazardous to human health and to the environment They are however essential for the correct functioning of your machine Please do not therefore dispose or it with your household waste Please dispose of it at your local community waste collection recycling centre and ensure that it presents no danger to children while being stored for disposal It should be disconnected from the mains supply by a competent person The cable should be cut off directly behind it to prevent misuse See the Warning and Safety section of this booklet for further det
2. m Dyes suitable for use in a washing machine can be used However please note that the salt used in the dyeing process can cause corrosion to stainless steel components in the machine if you dye frequently Always observe the manufacturer s instructions carefully External dispensing system This machine is suitable for connecting to an external dispensing system A conversion kit is required which must be fitted by a Miele approved service technician 29 Cleaning and care Disconnect the machine from the mains electricity supply m Clean the casing and fascia panel with a damp cloth and a mild non abrasive detergent or soap and water Wipe dry with a soft cloth m The drum and any other stainless steel components can be cleaned using a suitable proprietary stainless steel cleaning agent following the manufacturer s instructions on the packaging E Cloth A microfibre E Cloth is available from the Miele UK Spare Parts Department which is suitable for cleaning surfaces such as stainless steel glass plastic and chrome without the use of chemicals 30 Extra cleaning Carry out a hot wash 70 C or above with powder detergent approx every 6 weeks to help prevent deposits building up in the machine These can occur when washing is mainly done at low temperatures and also lead to unpleasant smells N Do not use solvents abrasive cleaners glass cleaners or all purpose cleaning agents These mig

It is most important that this basic safety requirement is present and regularly tested and where there is any doubt the on site wiring system should be inspected by a qualified electrician The manufacturer cannot be held liable for the consequences of an inadequate earthing system e g electric shock Do not connect the machine to the mains electricity supply by an extension lead Extension leads do not guarantee the required safety of the machine e g danger of overheating The machine is built in accordance with current safety requirements Unauthorised repairs could result in unforeseen dangers for the user for which the manufacturer cannot accept liability Repairs should only be undertaken by a Miele approved technician Ensure current is not supplied to the machine until after maintenance or repair work has been carried out In the event of a fault or for cleaning purposes the machine is only completely isolated from the electricity supply when it is switched off at the mains or the mains fuse is withdrawn Warning and Safety instructions This machine must only be connected to the on site water supply using a new hose kit Old hoses must not be re used Check the hose regularly for signs of wear Change in good time to avoid the risk of leaks and subsequent damage Faulty components must only be replaced by genuine Miele original spare parts Only when these parts are fitted can the s

Problem Possible cause Liquid detergent does not give the required result Grey greasy particles cling to washed laundry White residues which look like powder detergent are seen on dark textiles after washing Textiles have particularly greasy soiling Liquid detergents usually contain no bleaching agents They do not remove fruit coffee and tea stains Insufficient amounts of detergent were used to break down the particles of grease in heavily soiled laundry The detergent contained compounds zeolites to aid water softening which are not soluble in water They have ended up on the laundry Use a general purpose detergent containing a bleaching agent Pour stain removers into compartment UY of the dispenser drawer and liquid detergent into a dispenser ball Never put stain removers and liquid detergent together in the dispenser drawer Use more detergent Before washing the next load run a Cottons 95 C programme with powder detergent but without a load Try and brush off the residues with a soft brush once the laundry is dry Wash dark textiles using a detergent which contains no zeolites Liquid detergents usually contain no zeolites Select a programme with pre wash The use of heavy duty detergent is recommended in the main wash for very heavily soiled work clothing Consult detergent producers for advice 35 Problem solving guide The drum door cannot be open

Hygiene This option is visible in the display but not available on this machine The machine is delivered with the option deactivated N B This option is only suitable for use on machines fitted with a dump valve It must not be activated on machines fitted with a drain pump Disinfection This option is visible in the display but not available on this machine Pre wash You can choose for pre wash to be carried out with every Cottons hygiene Cottons universal and Minimum iron programme or to select it on an individual basis via the Extras menu The machine is delivered with the option to select the pre wash from the Menu activated 65 Settings Supervisor level menu 2 Pre wash Kitchen linen An additional pre wash can be carried out in the Kitchen linen programme m Detergent for the additional pre wash should be added to the laundry in the drum The machine is delivered with this option deactivated No rinses Cottons You can alter the number of rinses which are carried out in the Cottons programmes 2 rinses default setting 3 rinses 4 rinses 5 rinses No rinses Min iron You can alter the number of rinses which are carried out in the Minimum iron programme 2 rinses default setting 3 rinses 4 rinses 66 Pre rinse Cottons A pre rinse can be carried out in the Cottons programmes The machine is delivered with this option
9. a ring piped hot water supply The maximum temperature must not exceed 70 C It is not economical to run it from an individual hot water supply if it is not in continuous use as the water in the supply pipes cools down and more energy would be required to reheat the water For hot water connection the same conditions apply as for cold water connection The inlet hose with the red stripes hot water hose is connected to the stopcock For operational reasons the machine must not be connected to hot water only If the machine is not connected to a hot water supply the hot water inlet hose must be disconnected and the water settings for the main wash pre wash and rinses must be reprogrammed The programme durations may be longer 50 Connection to a very hot water supply It is possible to connect the machine to a very hot water supply 70 C toa maximum of 85 C A special inlet hose is required The machine must also be reprogrammed by a Miele service technician or Miele authorised service dealer Installation and connection Connection to drainage Machines with a drain pump The machine drains via a drain pump with a delivery head of 1 metre The drain hose must not be kinked as this would restrict drainage The swivel elbow at the end of the hose can be turned in either direction or can be detached if required with a sharp twist and pull For a delivery head of more than 1 m up to a max

14. of 1 8 m a second duo drain pump is available with the corresponding kit from the Miele Spare Parts Department or your Miele Dealer The drain hose may be connected as follows 1 Direct into a sink or basin drain pump version Please note Hook the hose over the edge and secure Make sure that the water can drain away freely without hindrance Otherwise there is a risk of water overflowing or of some of the drained water being sucked back into the machine 2 Connected securely to a plastic drain pipe with a rubber nipple There is no need to use a non return valve 3 Connected securely to a standpipe Seal the hose into the pipe to avoid flooding in case of the drainpipe being blocked 4 Connected securely to a floor gully If required the drain hose can be extended to a length of 5 m The necessary parts can purchased from the Miele Spare Parts Department or your Miele dealer Dump valve version A motorised dump valve is used to drain the machine A DN 70 angle connector can be used for draining the machine via an on site gully with odour trap N B If not supplied with the machine an angle connector is available through the Miele Spare Parts Department 51 Installation and connection Electrical connection U K All electrical work must be carried out by a suitably qualified and competent person in strict accordance with current national and local safety regulations BS 7

17. accessory 43 Installation and connection The washer extractor is not suitable for building under Installation on a raised plinth The machine can be installed on a steel plinth base available open or closed or on a concrete plinth m Secure the front feet of the washer extractor with the clamps supplied when installing on a concrete plinth m Follow the fitting instructions supplied Washer dryer stack A Miele tumble dryer can be stacked on top of this washer extractor The appropriate stacking kit WTV is required The stacking kit must be fitted by a Miele authorised service technician 44 Replacing the lid If the lid has been removed in order to fit the washer dryer stack ensure that if the lid is ever replaced it fits securely into the rear holders Otherwise it is not properly secure for transport Payment system This washer extractor can be fitted with a payment system This must be connnected and programmed by a Miele service technician or authorised dealer Coins tokens must be removed from the payment system regularly otherwise it will become blocked Automatic switch off devices such as timers must not be fitted to this machine as the machine must remain connected to the electricity supply so that the drum door can be opened The sticker supplied with the text This machine must be connected to the electricity supply to allow the door to b

21. d confirm your selection If you do not make a selection in the sub menu within approx 20 seconds the menu display will revert to the Settings menu Although the Time of day and Memory settings are visible in the display they are not available on this machine To close the Settings menu m Select Back and confirm your selection The display will return to the entry menu 56 Settings menu F Language P The machine is delivered with Suds cooling activated The display can be set to appear in one of several different languages To select the language you want goto Time of day the Languages sub menu This option is visible in the display m If the language shown is not the one but not available on this machine you want turn the multi function selector to highlight the one that you do want and confirm your selection The flag after the word Language acts as a guide to prevent a language which will not be understood from being set The different language setting will only apply to the programme currently in use After the programme has finished the display will revert to the default language Suds cooling When this is activated additional water flows into the drum at the end of the main wash to cool the suds down Hot suds can damage plastic drainage pipes Suds cooling takes place when temperatures of more than 70 C are selected Suds cooling should be activated to pr
22. e opened On no account should the door be opened with force should be placed near to the machine where it can be seen easily All items marked are available to order from your Miele Dealer or from the Miele Spare Parts Department Installation and connection Installation surface Do not install the machine near or directly above an open gully or floor drain Moisture from these can penetrate the machine and damage the electric components A concrete floor is the most suitable installation surface being far less prone to vibration during the spin cycle than wooden floorboards or a carpeted surface NI the machine is installed on an on site concrete or brick plinth it must be secured using the clamps supplied with the machine Otherwise there is the danger of the machine moving about m The machine must be level and securely positioned m To avoid vibrations during spinning the machine should not be installed on soft floor coverings If installing on a wooden joist floor m We recommend a plywood base at least 70 x 60 x 3 cm The base should span several joists and be bolted to the joists and not only to the floorboards Check for the presence of pipes and cables first If possible install the machine in a corner as this is usually the most stable part of the floor Installing the washer extractor To manoeuvre the machine out of its packing case to its installlation site hold it by the edge
