Configuring the phone via the Web configurator Configuring the phone via the Web configurator The Web configurator for your Gigaset telephone enables you to change the set tings for your phone conveniently on your PC Alternatively you can change settings that are also available on a registered Gigaset telephone handset via the Web browser on your PC e g configuring VolP connections downloading firmware updates or starting Eco Mode You can change additional settings that are not possible via a registered hand set e g meeting particular prerequisites for connecting the phone to a com pany network or adjusting the voice quality on VolP connections On the base you can save data that is required to access specific services on the Internet These services include access to public and private net directories to the POP3 server for your e mail account and synchronising the date time with a time server You can save configuration data for your telephone as files on your PC and reload these onto your telephone in the event of an error You can manage the directories on registered Gigaset handsets save to PC compare them with one another or against a directory on your PC Below you will find a list of the Web configurator functions and the navigation paths to the Web configurator pages where the functions are available See the online Help for the Web configurator page 124 fo

3. 69 Using directories Starting a refined search You can use the search options available in the refined search first name and or street to limit the number of hits returned by a previous search Prerequisite A search result is displayed hit list with multiple entries or a message indicating too many hits Refine Press the display key Or EM gt Refine Search Select and press 4 The search criteria from the previous search are copied and entered in the corre sponding fields Surname Net directory or Category name Yellow Pages If necessary change the name category or extend the partial name City Name of the city from the previous search is shown cannot be changed Street If necessary change the name of the street max 30 characters First Name only in the net directory If necessary enter the first name max 30 characters OK Start detailed search Using the private net directory 70 Some providers offer users the option of creating and managing a private net direc tory on the Internet The advantage of an net directory is that you can call up entries from any telephone or PC e g from your VoIP phone in the office or your PC at a hotel You can use the private net directory on your handset Prerequisites Create your private net directory using your PC s Web browser Create and manage entries in the net directory via your PC s Web browser Activate the net directory on y

10. 135 Configuring the phone via the Web configurator 136 Setting DTMF signalling for VoIP You can change the settings for DTMF signalling in the DTMF over VoIP connec tions area on the Web page Settings gt Telephony gt Advanced VolP Settings DTMF signalling Dual Tone Multi Frequency is required for example for querying and controlling certain network mailboxes via digit codes for controlling of auto matic directory enquiries or for remote operation of an answering machine To send DTMF signals via VoIP you must first define how key codes should be con verted into and sent as DTMF signals as audible information via the speech channel or as an SIP Info message Ask your VoIP provider which type of DTMF transmis sion it supports You can configure your telephone in such a way that it attempts with each call to set the most suitable DTMF signalling for the current codec Automatic negotia tion of DTMF transmission Or you can explicitly define the type of DTMF signalling Audio or RFC 2833 if DTMF signals are to be transmitted acoustically in voice packets SIP Info if DTMF signals are to be transmitted as code Please note The settings for DTMF signalling apply to all VoIP connections VoIP accounts DTMF signals cannot be transmitted in the audio path Audio on broadband connections the G 722 codec is used Configuring call transfer via VoIP You can change the settings for call trans

Applying changes As soon as you have made your change on a page save and activate the new set ting on the phone by selecting Set If your entry does not comply with the rules for this field an appropriate error mes sage is displayed You can then repeat the input Warning Changes that have not been saved on your phone are lost if you move to another Web page or the connection to the Web configurator is lost e g due to exceeding the time limit gt page 121 Buttons Buttons are displayed in the bottom section of the working area Depending on the current function of a Web page various buttons are displayed The functions of these buttons are described in the online Help of the Web configurator The most important buttons are Cancel Reject changes made on the Web page and reload the settings that are currently saved in your phone to the Web page Set Store changes made on a Web page on the phone Help You will see a question mark at the top right of most Web pages Click this question mark to open the online Help for this Web page in a separate window The Help pages are downloaded directly from the configuration server Please note You may need to change your browser settings to display the Help pages cor rectly Internet Explorer and Firefox require the following settings for example gt You must allow blocked active content for Help right click the information bar at the top of the browser window
