1. first time without completely reading and understanding this owner s manual Your power chair is a state of the art life enhancement device designed to increase mobility Pride provides an extensive variety of products to best fit the individual needs of the power chair user Please be aware that the final selection and purchasing decision regarding the type of power chair to be used is the responsibility of the power chair user who is capable of making such a decision and his her healthcare professional 1 medical doctor physical therapist etc The contents of this manual are based on the expectation that a mobility device expert has properly fitted the power chair to the user and has assisted the prescribing healthcare professional and or the authorised Pride Pro vider in the instruction process for the use of the product There are certain situations including some medical conditions where the power chair user will need to practice operating the power chair in the presence of a trained attendant A trained attendant can be defined as a family member or care professional specially trained in assisting a power chair user in various daily living activities As you begin using your power chair during daily activities you will probably encounter situations in which you will need some practice Simply take your time and you will soon be in full and confident control as you maneuver through doorways on and off of lifts up and down ram
2. unregulated air source could overinflate them resulting in a burst tyre WARNING When changing a tyre remove only the centre lug nut then remove the wheel If any further disassembly is required deflate the tyre completely or it may explode NOTE If the tyre on your power chair lists the psi rating only use the following conversion formulas to find the bar or kPa rating bar psi x 0 06895 kPa psi x 6 89476 Incline Information More and more buildings have ramps with specified degrees of inclination designed for easy and safe access Some ramps may have turning switchbacks 180 degree turns that require you to have good cornering skills on your power chair Proceed with extreme caution as you approach the downgrade of a ramp or other incline Take wide swings with your power chair s front wheels around any tight corners If you do that the power chair s rear wheels will follow a wide arc not cut the corner short and not bump into or get hung up on any railing corners When driving down ramp keep the power chair s speed adjustment set to the slowest speed setting to ensure a safely controlled descent Avoid sudden stops and starts When climbing an incline try to keep your power chair moving If you must stop start up again slowly and then accelerate cautiously When driving down an incline set your power chair to the slowest speed setting and drive in the forward direction only If your power chai
3. 24 www pridemobility com Vogue IV COMFORT ADJUSTMENTS Armrest Height Adjustment Armrest height adjustments can be made on both the top and the bottom of the armrest The total height adjustment range is 15 24 cm from 27 94 to 43 18 cm This range is measured from the seat pan to the top of the armrest pad Top height adjustments do not require any tools The top height adjustment range is 7 62 cm in 0 95 cm incre ments The bottom height adjustment range is 7 62 cm in 2 54 cm increments To remove the armrest assembly 1 Rotate the armrest lock lever forward See figure 15 2 Lift up the armrest assembly To install the armrest assembly 1 Place the armrest assembly into the armrest lock See figure 15 2 Rotate the armrest lock lever rearward To adjust the top height 1 Ifpresent remove the optional locking pin See figure 16 2 Pull the armrest up to raise or press the release lever to lower the armrest to the desired height If applicable reinsert the locking pin Repeat for the other armrest if necessary BR WwW To adjust the bottom height 1 Remove the two button head screws from the detent bar See figure 17 2 Slide the armrest up or down 3 Line up the holes in the armrest 4 Reinstall the two button head screws into the detent bar 5 Repeat for the other armrest if necessary 1 9 ary 9 Figure 15 Armrest Removal installation LOCKING PIN ARMREST HE

10. possible E Limit baggage weight to essential items Try to maintain an even speed and avoid stop and go driving What type of batteries should I use We recommend deep cycle batteries that are sealed and maintenance free Both AGM and Gel Cell are deep cycle batteries that are similar in performance WARNING Corrosive chemicals contained in batteries Use only AGM or Gel Cell batteries to reduce the risk of leakage or explosive conditions Why do my new batteries seem weak Deep cycle batteries employ a much different chemical technology than that used in car batteries nickel cadmium nicads or in other common battery types Deep cycle batteries are specifically designed to provide power drain down their charge and then accept a relatively quick recharge AGM and Gel Cell batteries should be charged as often as possible They do not have a memory like nickel cadmium batteries We work closely with our battery manufacturer to provide a battery that best suits your power chair s specific demands Fresh batteries arrive regularly at Pride and are promptly shipped with a full charge During shipping the batteries encounter temperature extremes that may influence initial performance Heat robs the charge from the battery and cold slows the power available and extends the time needed to recharge the battery just as with a car battery It might take a few days for the temperature of the battery to stabilise and adjust to its n
11. your power chair If necessary clean your product with an approved disinfectant Make sure the disinfectant is safe for use on your product before application WARNING Follow all safety instructions for the proper use of the disinfectant and or cleaning agent before applying it to your product Failure to comply may result in skin irritation or premature deterioration of upholstery and or power chair finishes a WARNING Never hose off your power chair or place it in direct contact with water Your power chair has a painted ABS plastic body shroud that allows it to be easily wiped clean with a damp cloth WARNING Never use any chemicals to clean a vinyl seat as they may cause the seat to become slippery or dry out and crack Use soapy water and dry the seat thoroughly Wheel Replacement If your chair is equipped with a solid tyre insert then you must replace the entire wheel assembly Replacement wheel assemblies are readily available through your authorised Pride Provider WARNING The wheels on your power chair should only be serviced or replaced by an authorised Pride Provider or a qualified technician 7 N WARNING Be sure that the power to the controller is turned off and the power chair is not in 7 freewheel mode before performing this procedure WARNING When changing a tyre remove only the centre lug nut then remove the wheel If any further disassembly is required deflate the tyre completely or it may explode
12. 6 Use wire ties to secure the controller cable and the manual recline lever cable to the armrests 7 Route the controller cable to the front of the power base and reconnect the controller See figure 20 To change the controller position in a figure 8 assembly 1 Turn off the power to the controller SETSCREWS 2 Unplug the controller connector from the front of the power base See figure 6 Figure 19 Controller Position Figure 8 3 Remove any wire ties securing the controller cable to the Assembly armrest 4 Loosen the setscrews on the figure 8 clamp assembly located on the armrest See figure 19 5 Slide the controller out of the loosened clamp assembly 6 Loosen the setscrews on the clamp assembly on the other armrest 7 Remove the manual recline lever assembly and insert it into the clamp assembly on the opposite armrest See figure 10 8 Tighten the setscrews to secure the manual recline lever assembly in the figure 8 clamp 9 Insert the controller into the remaining open clamp assembly 10 Tighten the setscrews to secure the controller in the figure 8 clamp 11 Use wire ties to secure the controller cable and the manual recline lever cable to the armrests 12 Route the controller cable to the front of the power base and reconnect the controller See figure 20 Figure 20 Cable Routing 26 www pridemobility com Vogue IV COMFORT ADJUSTMENTS To extend the controller 1 Loosen the setscrews

ANCE Storage Your power chair should be stored in a dry place free from temperature extremes When storing disconnect the batteries from the power chair See V Batteries and Charging WARNING If you fail to store the unit properly the frame can rust and the electronics can be damaged Batteries that are regularly and deeply discharged infrequently charged stored in extreme temperatures or stored without a full charge may be permanently damaged causing unreliable performance and limited service life It is recommended that you charge the batteries periodically throughout periods of prolonged storage to ensure proper performance You may wish to place several boards under the frame of your power chair to raise it off of the ground during periods of prolonged storage This takes the weight off the tyres and reduces the possibility of flat spots develop ing on the areas of the tyres contacting the ground Disposal of Your Power Chair Your power chair must be disposed of according to applicable local and national statutory regulations Contact your local waste disposal agency or authorised Pride Provider for information on proper disposal of power chair packaging metal frame components plastic components electronics and batteries Cleaning and Disinfection E Use a damp cloth and mild non abrasive cleanser to clean the plastic and metal parts of your power chair Avoid using products that may scratch the surface of

N WARNING If your power chair is equipped with a kerb climber do not attempt to climb any kerb A in excess of 10 cm 4 in in height Do not approach kerbs at an angle instead approach any kerb you intend to ascend descend in the forward position WARNING Do not attempt to have your power chair proceed rearward down any step kerb or other obstacle This may cause the power chair to tip Stairs and Escalators Power chairs are not designed to travel up or down stairs or escalators Always use a lift WARNING Never use your power chair to negotiate steps or escalators Doors Determine if the door opens toward or away from you Drive your power chair gently and slowly forward to push the door open Or drive your power chair gently and slowly rearward to pull the door open Lifts Modern lifts have door edge safety mechanism that when pushed reopens the lift door s Ifyou in the doorway of a lift when the door s begin to close push on the rubber door edge or allow the rubber door edge to contact the power chair and the door will reopen E Use that handbags packages or power chair accessories do not become caught in lift doors Lifts Elevation Products If you will be traveling with your power chair you may find it necessary to use a lift elevation product to aid in transportation Pride recommends that you closely review the instructions specifications and safety information

PLACE cables immediately if damaged Removable Parts ff N WARNING Do not attempt to lift or move a power chair by any of its removable parts including 4 the armrests seat front riggings controller and shrouds Preventing Unintended Movement Am WARNING If you anticipate being seated in a stationary position for an extended period of time SaN turn off the power This will prevent unexpected motion from inadvertent joystick contact This will also eliminate the possibility of unintended chair movement from electromagnetic EM sources Reaching and Bending Never reach lean or bend while driving your power chair If it is absolutely necessary to reach lean or bend while seated on your power chair it is important to maintain a stable centre of gravity and keep the power chair from tipping Pride recommends that the power chair user determine his her personal limitations and practice bending and reaching in the presence of a qualified healthcare professional WARNING Do not bend lean or reach for objects if you have to pick them up from the floor by IN reaching down between your knees or if you have to reach over the back of the seat Movements j such as these may change your centre of gravity and the weight distribution of the power chair This may cause your power chair to tip PROHIBITED Keep your hands away from the tyres when driving Be aware that loose fitting clothing can become caught in drive tyr

Vogue www pridemobility com 35 VI CARE AND MAINTENANCE AXLE KEY WARNING Completely deflate the tyre before attempting repair Figure 24 Vogue Drive Wheel Figure 25 Vogue Drive Wheel Disassembled Follow these easy steps for a quick and safe repair for both pneumatic and solid tyres Turn off the power to the controller Set the power chair up on blocks If you are changing a pneumatic tyre completely deflate it before removing the wheel Remove the nut from the wheel hub See figure 24 Remove the wheel from the axle Remove the screws and washers and separate the front and rear rim See figure 25 Remove the old tube from the pneumatic tyre and replace it with a new tube or replace the entire assembly if it is a solid tyre 8 Screw together the two rim halves 9 Slide the wheel back onto the axle 10 Reinstall the nut and tighten 11 Inflate pneumatic tyres to the psi bar kPa air pressure rating indicated on each tyre 12 Remove the power chair from the blocks Oe Battery Replacement A battery wiring diagram is printed on a decal located on the battery door See figure 26 Refer to the specifications table for correct battery specifications MANDATORY Battery posts terminals and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds Wear goggles and gloves when handling batteries and wash hands after handling WARNING Do not replace battery when seat is occupied WARNING The batteries on your power ch

22. ain the leverage they need to maneuver over the obstacle When the chair is once again on level ground and the spring loaded foot no longer senses an obstacle it will return to its normal position and will not drag or scrape the ground NOTE For more information regarding the kerb climber feature please contact your authorised Pride Provider KERB CLIMBER Figure 7 Vogue with Kerb Climber 20 www pridemobility com Vogue lll YOUR POWER CHAIR Manual Freewheel Levers For your convenience your power chair is equipped with two manual freewheel levers mounted on the motors These levers allow you to disengage the drive motors and maneuver the chair manually You can manually push the power chair by the seatback WARNING Do not use the power chair while the drive motors are disengaged Do not disengage the drive motors when the power chair is on an incline or decline as the unit could roll on its own Only engage the freewheel mode when on a level surface WARNING It is important to remember that when your power chair is in freewheel mode the braking system is disengaged To engage or disengage the drive motors 1 Locate the lever on top of each motor 2 Push the two levers downward to engage the drive motors drive mode See figure 8 3 Pull the two levers upward to disengage the drive motors freewheel mode See figure 9 NOTE If the lever is difficult to move in either direction rock your
23. air should only be serviced or replaced by an authorised Pride Provider or a qualified technician WARNING Power chair batteries are heavy See specifications table If you are unable to lift that much weight be sure to get help Use proper lifting techniques and avoid lifting beyond your capacity WARNING Do not mix old and new batteries Always replace both batteries at the same time 36 www pridemobility com Vogue VI CARE AND MAINTENANCE To replace the batteries 1 Turn off the power to the controller Push the manual freewheel levers down for drive mode Slide the battery door latches toward the inside of the the power chair See figure 26 Lift with an upward rotation to remove the battery door See figure 26 Locate the battery quick disconnects on the frame and disconnect both of them See figure 26 Remove the batteries from the power base Disconnect the battery wiring harness from each battery Reinstall the battery wiring harness on each new battery Make sure that you connect the red wire to the positive battery terminal and the black wire to the negative battery terminal iN WARNING Make sure you tighten fasteners so that the connections are secure 9 Place batteries back into power base 10 Connect the battery quick disconnects according to the battery wiring diagram label located on the frame See figure 26 11 Replace the battery door and reconnect the batter
