4. 1 Before installing the retractor check that the seat 1 Check that the seat belt is not twisted or caught on belt can be pulled out freely 2 Make sure that the seat belt does not lock when the retractor A is leaned slowly up to 15 from the mounted position Inside Forward P 3 Lean the retractor over 40 and make sure that the seat belt does not lock when pulled out over 900 mm 35 4 in Do not attempt to disassemble the retractor Replace the seat belt with a new assembly if there is any abnormality Do not disassemble any part of the seat belt for any reason 23 10 anything After installing the anchors check for free movement on the anchor bolts If necessary remove the anchor bolts and check that the washers and other parts are not damaged or improperly installed Check the seat belts for damage or discoloration Clean with a shop towel if necessary Use only soap and water to clean NOTE Dirt build up in the loops of the upper anchors can cause the seat belts to retract slowly Wipe the inside of the loops with a clean cloth dampened in isopropyl alcohol Check that the seat belt does not lock when pulled out slowly The seat belt is designed to lock only during a sudden stop or impact For rear center shoulder belt check that the seat belt locks when pulled out over 400 mm 15 7 in with the seat back folded down Make sure that the seat belt will retract

12. and set the clock Do the engine control module ECM idle learn procedure see page 11 139 23 14 Steering related Precautions Cable Reel Alignment Misalignment of the cable reel could cause an open in the wiring making the SRS system and the horns inoperative Center the cable reel whenever the following is performed see step 6 on page 23 121 Installation of the steering wheel installation of the cable reel Installation of the steering column Other steering related adjustment or installation Do not disassemble the cable reel Do not apply grease to the cable reel If the cable reel shows any signs of damage or contamination replace it with a new one For example it does not rotate smoothly V s ww ws ow J amp 2 A Airbag Handling and Storage Store the removed airbag on a secure flat surface away from any high heat source exceeding 200 F Do not disassemble an airbag It has no serviceable 93 C parts Once an airbag has been deployed it cannot be repaired or reused For temporary storage of an airbag during service observe the following precautions Store the removed airbag with the pad surface up Never put anything on the airbag Never perform electrical inspections to the airbags such as measuring resistance Do not position yourself in front of the airbag during removal inspection or replacement To prevent damage to the airbag keep
