Seal Removal These instructions apply to valves which have been removed from machines If room permits rebuilding on the machine first disconnect any lines which could hold pressure or supply oil into the valve assembly It is recommended to drain the valve prior to rebuilding For clarification the control handle side of the valve is considered the front side The seal retainer plate Item 3 is the larger round plate with a hole in the center and two half round notches opposite each other on the outer edge 1 Remove the bonnet and spool positioner hardware Item 1 from the back of the work section Keep parts in order of disassembly If the work section does not include a handle assembly prevent the spool from turning or moving by inserting a screw driver through clevis slot or running a rod through the pin hole and using it as a handle Model V20 Service and Parts Manual Catalog No SC 1102 5 Remove the complete handle handle bracket or seal retainer hardware Item 2 from the front of the work section Push the spool into the housing from the front of the valve until the front seal is exposed Since the spool seals can be replaced externally it is not necessary to remove the spool from the housing Remove the retainer plate washers Item 3 back up washers Item 4 and spool seals Item 5 Remove the back seal in the same manner Note The back spool seal is located inside the detent sleeve in V20 Fl

71. control valve The Reference Numbers referred to in the following procedures may be found in the PA Pneumatic Spool Actuator Assembly Drawing on Page 13 Actuator Installation Remove the existing positioner and seal retainer plate from the control valve Do not remove the spool seal or back up washer Remove any oil film from the internal threads of the valve spool Insert the seal retainer plate No 1 over the end of the spool ensuring that it locates in the counter bore correctly Insert the spool collar No 5 thru the outer spring collar No 4 centering spring No 3 and inner spring collar No 2 Note The shorter of the two spring collars goes next to the spool Remove any oil film from the threads of the spool collar No 5 and apply 08006001 thread locking adhesive Loctite 2426 supplied in the kit Install in the spool and tighten to 38 46 in Ib 4 5 Nm torque Caution Over tightening the spool collar may cause spool binding Slide the spring tube No 6 into place over the spring assembly Insert spacer No 7 into spring tube No 6 Lubricate the piston rod No 11 with the supplied grease high temperature silicon based bearing grease with a NLGI 2 consistency Avoid getting lubricant on the threads Carefully insert the threaded end of the piston rod thru the inner end cap assembly No 9 Install the piston assembly No 12 and washer No 14 on the piston rod No 11 as sh
